Children shall not play with the product. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision. The product is not a toy. Risk of electric shock! mDANGER! Never open the housing of the product or of the power adaptor. In case of malfunction, repairs are to be conducted by qualified personnel only. mWARNING! Protect the product and the power adaptor from dripping and splashing water. Do not place containers filled with liquids (such as vases or drinks) on or near the product or the power adaptor. Do not immerse any product components in liquids. Never hold the product under running water. To avoid fire, do not place burning candles on or near the product. mDANGER! Do not touch the power adaptor with wet hands. mCAUTION! Never use a damaged product. If you notice any damage, disconnect the power adaptor immediately from the mains network. Remove the batteries from the product. Contact your retailer if the product is damaged. Always turn the product off before disconnecting it from the power supply. Only use this product with the supplied power adaptor or one of identical construction. The product should only be supplied with a SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) corresponding to the marking on the product or on the power adaptor. Contact your retailer if the power adaptor is damaged. Only use the radio with batteries (AA) and / or the supplied or an identical power adaptor. Refer to the technical data of the radio. The radio is classified as protection class III and therefore operates with a completely safe voltage range.GB/IE 29 The power adaptor is classified as protection class II. To avoid damaging the cord, do not squeeze, bend or chafe it on sharp edges. Keep it away from hot surfaces and open flames as well. Lay out the cord in such a way that no unintentional pulling or tripping over is possible. Keep the power adaptor and its cord out of reach of children. When disconnecting the power adaptor from the electrical outlet, do not pull by the connection cord but by the power adaptor. Do not wrap the connection cord around the product. Connect the power adaptor to an electrical outlet that is always easily reachable so that in case of an emergency the product can be unplugged immediately. Pull the power adaptor out of the power supply to completely disconnect the product from the mains network. The power adaptor continues to draw a small amount of electric- ity, even without the radio being operated, as long as the power adaptor is connected to the power supply. To completely switch off the power adaptor, it must be discon- nected from the mains network. Do not subject the product to physi- cal shock or strong vibrations. If smoke or unusual sounds are observed, immediately unplug the power adaptor from the power supply. Remove the batteries from the product. The power adaptor shall not be covered. Disconnect the power adaptor from the power supply and remove the battery / batteries from the product when not in use and before cleaning. Let the product dry completely before connecting it to the mains supply and before storage. Allow the product to cool down com- pletely before storage. DANGER OF EXPLOSION! Never recharge non-rechargea- ble batteries. Do not short-circuit batteries / rechargeable batteries and / or open them. Overheating, fire or bursting can be the result. Never throw batteries / rechargea- ble batteries into fire or water. Do not exert mechanical loads to batteries / rechargeable batteries. Risk of leakage of batteries / rechargeable batteries Avoid extreme environmental con- ditions and temperatures, which could affect batteries / rechargea- ble batteries, e.g. radiators / direct sunlight. If batteries / rechargeable batter- ies have leaked, avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes with the chemicals! Flush immedi- ately the affected areas with fresh water and seek medical attention!
WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES! Leaked or damaged batteries / rechargeable batteries can cause burns on contact with the skin. Wear suitable protective gloves at all times if such an event occurs. In the event of a leakage of batteries / rechargeable batteries, immediately remove them from the product to prevent damage. Remove batteries / rechargeable batteries if the product will not be used for a longer period. Risk of damage of the product Only use the specified type of battery / rechargeable battery! Insert batteries / rechargeable batteries according to polarity marks (+) and (–) on the bat- tery / rechargeable battery and the product. Clean the contacts on the battery / rechargeable battery and in the battery compartment before inserting! Remove exhausted batteries / rechargeable batteries from the product immediately. NOTE: This product is equipped with rubber feet to protect delicate surfaces. It cannot be ruled out that furniture care agents will attack or damage the rubber feet.GB/IE 31 Before use Unpacking Remove all packaging materials (including foils). Check if all parts are present. Inserting / Replacing the batteries NOTE: The product can be used with batteries or via the power adaptor
. The batteries should be removed when the product is powered via the power adaptor. Open the battery compartment

For a better signal reception always expand the telescopic antenna
. For optimal reception, the telescopic antenna can be rotated and swivelled.GB/IE32 Language setting NOTE: The product’s display shows a variety of information needed to operate the product. Upon delivery, this information will be displayed in English. This instruction manual provides all displayed information in English language. Changing the language settings: “System settings” “LANGUAGE”. Mode selection The product features FM and DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) reception. Press MODE
to toggle between FM and DAB. Volume adjustment Turn and hold VOLUME
to the right to increase the volume. Turn and hold VOLUME
to the left to decrease the volume. Connecting headphones Connect the 3.5 mm plug of your headphones (not supplied) with the headphones socket
. The speaker is muted as long as the headphones are connected. mCAUTION! Remember that excessive sound pressure or volumes can lead to damage to the hearing. Always adjust the volume to a pleasant, not too loud level. If you have adjusted the volume of the product to be too high and use that for an extended period, it can damage the listener’s hearing. Automatic time setting The product updates the time au- tomatically if it can receive DAB/ FM signal. In order to synchronise to the cur- rent local time, the product needs to receive signals from the DAB/ FM station for a period of time. System settings Press and hold MENU/INFO

Name Displays the frequency of the currently set station. Audio info Shows if the station be- ing received is in mono or stereo mode. Power used Displays the power source (power adaptor or batteries). When us- ing batteries, the battery load (in %) is displayed as well. Time Displays the current time provided automatically by the broadcaster. Date Displays the current date provided automatically by the broadcaster. Each time MENU/INFO

to confirm. NOTE: Unavailable stations can only be detected after another complete search (e. g. at a differ- ent location). In this case, the af- fected station will be preceded by a question mark. After the “Delete” function has been performed, the correspondingly marked stations are no longer available in the station list. DAB display modes Press MENU/INFO
briefly to choose from: Setting Function Scrolling text Sets a scrolling mes- sage giving real-time information, e.g song title, news headlines, etc. Signal strength Shows a bar indicating the signal strength. Setting Function Pro- gramme type Shows the genre of the programme that is being broadcasted. Ensemble Displays the name of the multiplex contain- ing the station you are listening to. NOTE: A multiplex is a collection of radio stations that are bundled and transmitted on one frequency. There are national and local multiplexes. Local multiplexes contain regional stations that are specific to that area Frequency Displays the frequency of the currently set station. Signal error Displays the number presenting the error rate. 0 – the signal received is error free.GB/IE 37 Setting Function Signal error Higher num- ber – If the error rate is high, it is recommended to re-orient the aerial or/and re-position the product. Bitrate and Codec Displays the radio mode and the received audio bit rate. Power used Displays the power source (power adaptor or batteries). When using batteries, the battery load (in %) is displayed as well. Time Displays the cur- rent time provided automatically by the broadcaster. Date Displays the cur- rent date provided automatically by the broadcaster. Each time MENU/INFO

repeatedly to choose the sleep time: Sleep off/ 10/20/30/60/70/80/90 minutes. Press SELECT
to confirm. After the selected time has elapsed the product will switch into standby mode. Checking the remaining sleep time: Press SLEEP
