USER MANUAL TEHD 1822 D Li EINHELL

Danger! When using the equipment, a few safety pre- cautions must be observed to avoid injuries and damage. Please read the complete operating instructions and safety regulations with due care. Keep this manual in a safe place, so that the in- formation is available at all times. If you give the equipment to any other person, hand over these operating instructions and safety regulations as well. We cannot accept any liability for damage or accidents which arise due to a failure to follow these instructions and the safety instructions. Explanation of the symbols used (see Fig. 11)

5. Select between the individual functions only

when the equipment is at a standstill. If you fail to observe this point, the equipment may be damaged.

6. Turn and push the SDS-Plus drill bit into the

tool chuck as far as it will go. The tool will lock automatically.

7. 1. Pull back and hold the locking sleeve!

8. Store the batteries only in dry rooms

with an ambient temperature of +10°C to +40°C. Place only fully charged batteries in storage (charged at least 40%).

The equipment is designed for drilling work with hammer action in concrete, rock and brick, al- ways using the correct drill bit. The equipment is also suitable for screwdriving and drilling in wood and steel. The equipment is to be used only for its prescri- bed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a case of misuse. The user / operator and not the manufacturer will be liable for any damage or inju- ries of any kind caused as a result of this. Please note that our equipment has not been de- signed for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications. Our warranty will be voided if the machine is used in commercial, trade or industrial businesses or for equivalent purposes.

Limit the operating time. All stages of the operating cycle must be conside- red (for example, times in which the electric tools are switched off and times in which the tool is switched on but operates without load).

5. Before using the equipment

Be sure to read the following information before you put the cordless impact drill into operation:

1. Charge the battery pack only with a charger

from the Power X-Change series.

2. Only ever use sharp drill bits and screwdriver

bits which are suitable for the purpose and in faultless condition.

3. Using a cable/pipe detector, check the area

you want to work on for concealed electric cables and gas and water pipes.

5.1 Additional handle (Fig. 2/Item 10)

For safety reasons you must only use the im- pact drill with the additional handle. The additional handle (10) enables you to achieve better stability whilst using the impact drill. For safety reasons the machine must not be used wit- hout the additional handle (10). The additional handle (10) is secured to the impact drill by a clamp. Turning the handle anti- clockwise (viewed from the handle) will release the clamp. Turning the handle clockwise tightens the clamp. Release the clamp of the additional handle fi rst. Then you can swivel the additional handle (10) into the most comfortable working position for yourself. Now turn the additional handle (10) in the opposite direction again until the additional handle (10) is secure.

5.2 Fitting and adjusting the depth stop

(Fig. 3/Item 11) The depth stop (11) is held in place by the additi- onal handle (10) by clamping. The clamp can be released and tightened by turning the handle.

Release the clamp and fit the depth stop (11) in the recess provided for it in the additional handle.

Set the depth stop (11) to the same level as the drill bit.

Pull the depth stop back by the required dril- ling depth.

Turn the handle on the additional handle (10) until it is secure.

Now drill the hole until the depth stop (11) touches the workpiece.

5.3 Inserting a tool (Fig. 4)

Important! Set the changeover switch (3) to its center position whenever you carry out any work (for example changing the tool, maintenance work, etc.) on the equipment.

Clean the tool before fitting it and apply a thin coating of bit grease to the tool shaft.

Turn and push the dust-free tool into the tool mounting (b) as far as it will go. The tool will lock automatically.

Check that the bit is locked in placed by pulling on it.

5.4 Removing a tool (Fig. 5)

Pull back and hold the locking sleeve (1) and re- move the tool.

1. Remove the battery pack (5) from the handle,

pressing the pushlock button (6) downwards to do so.

2. Check that your mains voltage is the same as

that marked on the rating plate of the battery charger. Insert the power plug of the charger (8) into the socket outlet. The green LED will then begin to fl ash.

3. Push the battery pack onto the battery char-

ger. In section 10 (Charger indicator) you will fi nd a table with an explanation of the LED indicator on the charger. If the battery pack fails to charge, check for the following:

When shipping or disposing of batteries and cordless tools, always ensure that they are packed individually in plastic bags to prevent short circuits and fi res. To ensure that the battery pack provides long ser- vice, you should take care to recharge it promptly. You must recharge the battery pack when you notice that the performance of the device drops. Never allow the battery pack to become fully di- scharged. This will cause it to develop a defect.

6.2 Drill / Impact drill / Chisel selector switch

For drilling, press the button (E) on the rotary switch (2) and simultaneously turn the rotary switch (2) to position A.

For impact drilling, press the button (E) on the rotary switch (2) and simultaneously turn the rotary switch (2) to position B.

To set the chisel position, press the button (E) on the rotary switch (2) and simultaneously turn the rotary switch (2) to setting C.

Important! In this setting the chisel does not latch in place!

In this setting you can turn the chisel by hand into the required position.

For chiseling, press the button (E) on the rotary switch (2) and simultaneously turn the rotary switch (2) to position D.

The chisel is locked in position D. Important! You need apply only slight contact pressure for impact drilling. Excessive contact pressure will place unnecessary strain on the motor. Check drill bits at regular intervals. Sharpen or replace blunt drill bits.

6.3 Changeover switch (Fig. 9)

Using the changeover switch (3) above the On/ Off switch (4) you can select the direction of rota- tion of the equipment and lock the equipment so that it cannot be switched on accidentally. You can select between clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation. To avoid causing damage to the gearing, the direction of rotation must only be changed when the equipment is at a standstill. When the changeover switch (3) is in the middle position, the On/Off switch (4) is blocked. Danger! To avoid danger, the machine must only be held using the two handles. Otherwise you may suff er an electric shock if you drill into electric cables!

6.4 On/Off switch (Fig. 9)

Infi nitely variable speed control is possible with the On/Off switch (4). The further you push the switch, the higher the speed of the equipment. Switching on: Press the On/Off switch (4). Switching off : Release the On/Off switch (4).

6.5 Battery capacity indicator (Fig. 10)

Press the button for the battery capacity indicator (d). The battery capacity indicator (7) shows the charge status of the battery using 3 LEDs. All 3 LEDs are lit: The battery is fully charged. 2 or 1 LED(s) are lit: The battery has an adequate remaining charge. 1 LED fl ashes: The battery is empty, recharge the battery. All LEDs blink: The battery temperature is too low. Remove the battery from the equipment, keep it at room tem- perature for one day. If the fault reoccurs, this me- ans that the rechargeable battery has undergone exhaustive discharge and is defective. Remove the battery from the equipment. Never use or charge a defective battery.

6.6 LED light (Fig. 1)

The LED light (9) can be used in poor lighting conditions to illuminate the area where you want to drill or screw. 7. Cleaning, maintenance and

ordering of spare parts Danger! Always pull out the mains power plug before star- ting any cleaning work.

Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.

We recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.

Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could at- tack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensu- re that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.

There are no parts inside the equipment which require additional maintenance.

8. Disposal and recycling

The equipment is supplied in packaging to pre- vent it from being damaged in transit. The raw materials in this packaging can be reused or recycled. The equipment and its accessories are made of various types of material, such as metal and plastic. Never place defective equipment in your household refuse. The equipment should be taken to a suitable collection center for proper disposal. If you do not know the whereabouts of such a collection point, you should ask in your local council offi ces.

Store the equipment and accessories in a dark and dry place at above freezing temperature. The ideal storage temperature is between 5 and 30 °C. Store the electric tool in its original pa- ckaging. Action: Remove the battery pack and keep it at room temperature (approx. 20° C) for one day . Damage to the equipment caused by misuse or incorrect applications (e.g. overloading the equipment or using non-approved attachments or accessories); damage caused by foreign bodies (e.g. sand, stones, dust, ….) getting inside the equipment. Damage in transit; damage caused by force or external influences (e.g. by dropping the equipment).

Damage to the equipment or parts of the equipment which is owed to use-related, normal or otherwise natural wear. For example, batteries and battery packs are manufactured with a cycle limit for design- related reasons. Wear is negatively influenced in particular by load demands and charging speeds as well as exposure to heat, cold, vibration and impact.

4. The guarantee is valid for a period of 2 years starting from the purchase date of the equipment. Guarantee

claims must be submitted before the end of the guarantee period and within two weeks of the defect being noticed. No guarantee claims will be accepted after the end of the guarantee period. The original guaran- tee period remains applicable to the equipment even if repairs are carried out or parts are replaced. In such cases, the work performed or parts fi tted will not result in an extension of the guarantee period, and no new guarantee will become active for the work performed or for any replacement parts fi tted. This also applies if on-site service is used.

5. To assert your guarantee claim, register the defective equipment at: www.Einhell-Service.com. You will

need to provide proof of purchase of the new item of equipment. Equipment returned without such proof or without a rating plate are excluded from the guarantee services because of the lack of traceability. If the defect is covered by our guarantee, then either the item in question will be repaired immediately and retur- ned to you or we will send you a new replacement.

6. If you have taken the equipment with you to a diff erent EU country than where you bought it, we will arran-

ge for a local service partner to provide the guarantee services. If you take the equipment outside the EU, the guarantee will not apply. Of course, we are also happy to off er a chargeable repair service for any defects which are not covered or no longer covered by the scope of this guarantee.
