How to use the MEDISANA HU 660 double heated blanket?

Lay the blanket flat on the mattress, place it under a duvet cover. Plug the control units into the connectors located at the top left and right. Plug in the power cord. Switch each unit from position 0 to 1. The LED turns green, then orange (heating phase). After a few minutes, the LED turns back to green indicating the temperature is reached. For more heat, switch to levels 2, 3 or 4.

What are the available heat levels and how to adjust them?

The device has 4 heat levels: position 1 (minimum temperature) to position 4 (maximum temperature). Each heat zone (left and right) is adjusted independently using its sliding switch. To turn off, set the switch back to 0.

What does the green, orange or red LED indicator light mean?

The green LED indicates that the desired temperature is reached and maintained. The orange LED means the device is in heating phase. The red LED, accompanied by beeps, signals a malfunction (disconnected cable, defective component, short circuit).

How to clean the heated blanket?

Unplug the device and let it cool down for at least 10 minutes. Remove the detachable control units. The blanket can be hand washed in a tub of warm water with a little detergent, gently squeezed, then rinsed thoroughly. Do not twist, do not use harsh detergents or hard brushes. Do not machine wash, do not tumble dry (air dry on a flat surface).

Can the blanket be machine washed?

No, the MEDISANA HU 660 heated blanket is not suitable for machine washing. It must be washed exclusively by hand gently, at a maximum temperature of 30°C.

What to do if the blanket beeps and the LED turns red?

If you hear 3 repeated beeps and the LED is red, check that the connection cable of the control unit is properly plugged in. If the beep is continuous, the device may have a short circuit or technical fault. In both cases, immediately stop using the device and contact MEDISANA customer service.

How long until the device shuts off automatically?

The HU 660 double heated blanket has an automatic shut-off function after approximately 120 minutes of continuous operation. To turn it back on, set the switch to 0 and then to the desired heat level.

Can I use the heated blanket on a folding bed?

Yes, but ensure that the blanket is not caught or folded on itself. The blanket must always be used flat and should not be folded or wrinkled during use.

What are the important safety instructions?

Never poke the blanket with needles. Do not use folded or bunched up. Do not use for children, disabled persons, or people insensitive to heat. Do not leave unattended. Do not place the switch or cable on or under the blanket. Do not use in a damp room (bathroom). Always unplug after use.

How to store the blanket after use?

Let the blanket cool down completely before folding. Avoid folding it too tightly. Store it in its original packaging or in a clean, dry place. Make sure the cable is not twisted.

2.1 Items supplied and packaging

Please check first of all that the unit is complete and is not damaged in any way. If in doubt, do not use the appliance. Send it to a service point.

The following parts are included:

• 1 MEDISANA Double Size Heated Underblanket HU 660 with 2 removable controls
• 1 Instruction manual

The packaging can be reused or recycled. Please dispose properly of any packaging material no longer required. If you notice any transport damage during unpacking, please contact your dealer without delay.

WARNING

Please ensure that the polythene packing is kept away from the reach of children! Risk of suffocation!

2.2 Operation

You can use the MEDISANA Double Size Heated Underblanket HU 660 to gently warm and relax your whole body. Using the blanket stimulates the circulation in areas of tense muscle and promotes a sense of well being after a strenuous day. The Double Size Heated Underblanket provides a pleasantly warm bed and features two independently controllable warming zones, allowing you to relax and get to sleep quickly. Spread the blanket out flat on top of the mattress and fit a sheet over it. When using the blanket, you must make sure that it does not get creased, folded or rucked up. The blanket may only be used when it is spread out flat. The Double Size Heated Underblanket is equipped with 2 electric temperature control units (one unit per warming zone), which regulate the temperature according to the chosen setting.

Make sure, that the connection cables of the control units are properly connected to the plugs of the heated underblanket. The connecting plugs are located in the left and right corners of the printed top side. Plug the unit into the mains outlet and move the slider control of each control unit from position 0 to position 1. The power LED will light up in green firstly, then will beep 3 times and then flash in green, before the LED will change to orange colour (=warm up phase). After reaching the desired temperature level, the LED will light up in green. After a few minutes you will be able to feel the blanket getting noticeably warmer. If you require a higher temperature setting, move the switch to the next positions 2 or 3 or the maximum heat setting, position 4. If the heated underblanket gets too hot for you, move the slider back to position 3, 2 or 1. After a short time, the device will cool down. After reaching the desired temperature level, the unit will reheat in irregular intervals (LED will change from green to orange and back to green). To switch the unit off, move the switch back to position 0. The power LED will go out, indicating that the

unit is switched off. Unplug the unit from the mains outlet. Move the switch to position 1 for any continuous use. The Double Size Heated Underblanket will switch off automatically after approx. 120 minutes of continuous use. To switch it back on again, move the slider switch to position 0 and then back to the desired heat setting. Unplug the unit from the mains outlet once you have finished using it.

The control units get warm during the use!

3 Miscellaneous

3.1 Troubleshooting

This unit is equipped with the active protection system APS TECH. The unit detects different causes of errors and emits corresponding alarm sounds if necessary. In the case of an error, the power LED will light up in red.

3 beeps in 1-second interval and power LED lights up in red:

A connection cable of a control unit is not properly connected to the blanket or another electrical defect is present. Please check the cable connections. Are the cables connected properly, please do not use the item and contact the service center.

Constant beeping and power LED lights up in red:

Check first, if the desired switching position has been adjusted correctly. Important components are damaged or there is a short circuit. Please do not use the heated underblanket and contact the service center.

If there is no function at all after switching on the item (power LED shows no light and no beeps can be heard), please check if the mains plug is correctly plugged in the mains outlet. If this is the case, the blanket is defect. Please do not use the Double Size Heated Underblanket and contact the service center.

3.2 Cleaning and maintenance

• Before cleaning the Double Size Heated Underblanket, unplug it from the mains outlet and let it cool down for at least ten minutes.
• The blanket is equipped with two removable control units. Unplug the control units from the Double Size Heated Underblanket by pulling out the respective connection cable from each plug.
• The Double Size Heated Underblanket can be cleaned with a soft brush when dry.
• The Double Size Heated Underblanket may be carefully washed by hand. Ideally you should place the heated underblanket in a bathtub with warm water and a little mild detergent and squeeze it gently.

- Rinse the blanket several times to get rid of any remaining detergent.

- Never use strong detergents or hard brushes.

- To dry, lay the blanket flat on a moisture-absorbent towel or mat.

- Only use the blanket again once it is completely dry.

- Reconnect the control units to the blanket in the correct manner (please see the sketch, the arrow markings are showing towards each other).

- You should untangle the cables from time to time.

- Let the Double Size Heated Underblanket cool down completely before folding and storing it. Do not fold it too tightly. Ideally, you should store the underblanket folded in its original carton in a clean and dry place.

3.3 Disposal

This product must not be disposed together with the domestic waste.

All users are obliged to hand in all electrical or electronic devices, regardless of whether or not they contain toxic substances, at a municipal or commercial collection point so that they can be disposed of in an environmentally acceptable manner.

Consult your local authority or your supplier for information about disposal.

The following warranty terms apply:

1. The warranty period for MEDISANA products is three years from date of purchase. In case of a warranty claim, the date of purchase has to be proven by means of the sales receipt or invoice.
2. Defects in material or workmanship will be removed free of charge within the warranty period.
3. Repairs under warranty do not extend the warranty period either for the unit or for the replacement parts.

4. The following is excluded under the warranty:
   a. All damage which has arisen due to improper treatment, e.g. nonobservance of the user instructions.
   b. All damage which is due to repairs or tampering by the customer or unauthorised third parties.
   c. Damage which has arisen during transport from the manufacturer to the consumer or during transport to the service centre.
   d. Accessories which are subject to normal wear and tear.

5. Liability for direct or indirect consequential losses caused by the unit are excluded even if the damage to the unit is accepted as a warranty claim.
