Important safety instructions
- Do not use the appliance in the vicinity of a bath, shower or swimming-pool, over a washbasin filled with water or any other receptacle containing water. There is also a risk when the appliance is switched off. Additional protection is offered by fitting an earth-leakage circuit-breaker with a rated tripping
current not exceeding 30mA into your home installation. Please consult a qualified electrician.
- Protect the appliance from moisture and splashing water and do not operate it with wet hands.
- Before the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, it must not be used any longer: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use.
- Caution: the trimming blade and the shaving blade unit are extremely sharp; to prevent injuries, ensure that at all times during use the blade does not touch the skin.
- Switch off and remove the adaptor from the wall socket
- after use,
- in case of any malfunction during use,
- before cleaning the appliance.
- The power cord should be regularly examined for any signs of damage. In the event of such damage being found, the appliance must no longer be used.
- When removing the adaptor from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the adaptor itself.
Children are not aware of the dangers that may occur when operating electrical appliances. Therefore keep such appliances away from children. - No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
- This appliance is intended for domestic use only and not for commercial applications.
- In order to comply with safety regulations and to avoid hazards, repairs of electrical appliances must be carried out by qualified personnel, including the
replacement of the power cord. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to one of our customer service departments. The addresses can be found in the appendix to this manual.
Charging process
Before using the appliance for the first time the battery must be fully charged for a period of approximately 12 hours. However, the appliance can remain on charge for a longer period without damage or danger.
Should you experience a considerable decrease in trimming performance, switch off the appliance and recharge the battery. The hair trimmer may also be used by means of the adaptor. In this case, however, the battery must be briefly charged for approximately 10 minutes. The charging process starts only once the unit is switched off and is visible by the charge indicator.
- With the appliance switched off, insert the connecting plug of the adaptor into the corresponding jack on the main unit.
- Insert the adaptor into a suitable wall socket. The charging process begins automatically and is visible by the charge indicator. The charge indicator remains lit as long as the charging base is connected to the mains power.
The charging process only starts if the unit has been switched off.
- Once the charging process is complete, always remove the adaptor from the wall socket first before disconnecting the plug from the appliance.
- Whilst charging, the transformer within the adaptor will become warm. This is perfectly normal and safe and does not indicate a malfunction of any kind.
- If the appliance has not been used for a long period of time, the capacity of the battery may decrease by a certain amount. However, full capacity will be restored after several charging/discharging cycles.
Operation
Before using for the first time
Fitting and removing the heads
Fitting:
To fit the shaving or trimming head, insert the metal pin on the underside of the head into the corresponding middle hole on the main unit. Then press the head on until it locks audibly into place.
Removing:
To remove the head, push the release buttons on the appliance and pull the head off.
Trimming head
The trimming head can be fitted to the appliance in two different positions. The side with the wider blade is used for hair, while the narrower blade is used for the beard. The blade being used must be facing upwards when fitted.
Shaving head
The shaving head is designed for regular shaving.
Each time the shaving blade unit or the foils are used, they should be thoroughly examined for any signs of damage. In the event of such damage being found, the shaving head must no longer be used.
Adjusting the cutting length
The push-on attachment combs supplied allow for an 8-fold cutting length adjustment. The push-on combs have the following sizes: 3mm , 6mm , 9.5mm , 13mm , 16mm , 19mm , 22mm , 25mm .
The push-on combs are fitted over the trimming comb. Remove the push-on combs after use.
A few remarks on cutting hair
Before each use, always put a few drops of acid-free oil between the trimming comb and the trimming blade (picture I).
- Always start with the largest push-on comb.
- The hair should first be combed, and then generally cut against its natural direction.
- For longer hair-cuts use a push-on comb or a normal comb.
- Cut from bottom to top with the trimming comb lying against the head; lead the appliance upwards through the hair, moving it gradually away from the head at the same time.
- For a shaped cut, reverse the appliance and shorten the hair from top to bottom without using the push-on comb.
- Proceed in the same manner for trimming a beard.
A few remarks on shaving
- We recommend shaving before washing or taking a shower, as the skin will swell slightly after washing.
- Move the shaving head at right angles (90^) to the skin against the natural growth of the beard, while tightening the skin with your fingers.
Cleaning and Care
General
- It is essential to switch off the appliance and remove the adaptor from the wall socket before cleaning and oiling.
- For safety reasons, the electric hair trimmer and the adaptor must not be immersed in liquid or even allowed to come into contact with liquid.
- If necessary, the housing may be wiped with a smooth dry cloth.
Trimming head
After each use, remove the hair between the trimming comb and the trimming blade with the cleaning brush. The trimming head can be removed for cleaning by pushing the release buttons and then pulling the head off.
After cleaning, and also after the appliance has been used for approx. 25
minutes, put a drop of acid-free oil between the trimming comb and the trimming blade on each side, and then switch the appliance on briefly to ensure that the oil is well and evenly distributed. Regular oiling guarantees good cutting performance over a long period and thus a long service life.
Put the protective cover over the trimming comb when not in use.
Shaving head
- After each use, remove hair from the shaving head with the cleaning brush. To facilitate cleaning, remove the shaving top by pushing the release buttons.
Caution: the shaving blade unit is extremely sharp; there may be a risk of injury.
- The shaving foil should only be cleaned by gently tapping it. Do not use the cleaning brush.
- The shaving blade unit is subject to wear and must be replaced if it shows signs of over-use.
Put the protective cover on the trimming comb when not in use.
Disposal of battery pack
- This appliance contains a nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) rechargeable battery pack, which may be removed for disposal. To remove, loosen the screws in the housing with a suitable small screwdriver before taking off the internal battery cover.

Ni-MH
- Remember to protect the environment. Never dispose of old battery packs in domestic garbage.
Old battery packs must be disposed of through the proper public collection points. This also applies to the battery packs of defective appliances.
Disposal

Do not dispose of old or defective appliances in domestic garbage, but only through public collection points.
