Important safety instructions

  • CAUTION: The hair trimmer must be disconnected from the mains power before it is cleaned in water or used in the shower.
  • Before the appliance is used, the main body as well as any attachments should be checked thoroughly for any defects. If the appliance, for instance, has been dropped onto a hard surface, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on its operational safety.

The power cord should be regularly examined for any signs of damage. In the event of such damage being found, the appliance must no longer be used.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use.
- CAUTION: the trimming blade is extremely sharp; to prevent injuries, ensure at all times during use that the blade does not touch the skin.
- Switch off and remove the plug from the wall socket - in case of any malfunction during use, - before cleaning the appliance.

  • When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by any person (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • CAUTION: Keep any packaging materials well away from children: there may be a risk of suffocation.
  • No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
  • This appliance is intended for domestic use only and not for commercial applications.
  • In order to comply with safety regulations and to avoid hazards, repairs of electrical appliances must be carried out by qualified personnel, including the replacement of the power cord. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to one of our customer service departments. The address can be found in the appendix to this manual.

Charging process

Before using the appliance for the first time

the battery must be fully charged for a period of approximately 12 hours. However, the appliance can remain on charge for a longer period without damage or danger.

Should you experience a considerable decrease in trimming performance, switch off the appliance and recharge the battery. The trimmer may also be used with the adapter. In this case, however, the battery must be charged for approximately 10 minutes. The charging process starts only once the unit is switched off and is shown by the charge indicator.

  • With the appliance switched off, insert the connecting plug of the adapter into the corresponding jack on the main unit or the charging base.
  • Insert the adapter into a suitable wall socket. The charging process begins automatically and is shown by the charge indicator. The charge indicator remains on as long as the charging base is connected to the mains.

The charging process only starts if the unit has been switched off.

  • When the charging process is complete, always remove the adapter from the wall socket first before disconnecting the plug from the appliance or the charging base.
  • While charging, the transformer within the adapter will become warm. This is perfectly normal and safe and does not indicate a malfunction of any kind.
  • If the appliance has not been used for a long period of time, the capacity of the battery may decrease by a certain amount. However, full capacity will be restored after several charging/discharging cycles.

Operation

General information

The appliance is designed for dry as well as wet shaving of the head and facial areas.

Shaving

  • Remove the push-on comb if necessary.
  • Use the On/Off switch to turn the appliance on.
  • Place the shaving head against the skin.
Using only light pressure, move the appliance over the skin against the natural growth of the hair, while keeping the skin tight. For best results, the

shaving head should have maximum contact with the skin.

Trimming longer hair

  • Fit one of the push-on combs onto the trimming head; you may also trim the hair over a normal comb.
  • Adjust the push-on comb to the desired length. We recommend, however, that you start with a larger setting, as this will help you to get a feel for cutting the hair to the desired length.
  • Use the On/Off switch to turn the appliance on.
  • Place the push-on comb with the head against the skin.
  • Move the appliance against the natural growth of the hair with the tips of the comb leading.
  • For a shaped cut, reverse the appliance and shorten the hair from top to bottom without a push-on comb.

General care and cleaning

  • Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down.
  • To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the charging base with water and do not immerse it.
  • Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions.
  • The head can be taken off for cleaning by gently pushing it off the main unit by its blades. The head may be cleaned with a suitable brush or under running water, but without the use of detergent.
After cleaning, and also after the appliance has been used for approx. 20 minutes, put a drop of acid-free oil between the trimming comb and the trimming blade (see picture I), and then switch the appliance on briefly to ensure that the oil is evenly distributed. Regular oiling guarantees good cutting performance over a long period and thus a long service life.
  • The charging base and the main housing

may be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth.

Disposal of battery pack

  • This appliance contains a nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) rechargeable battery pack, which may be removed for disposal. To remove, loosen the screws in the housing with a suitable small screwdriver. Separate the two housing elements, cut the connecting wires one by one and remove the battery pack.
