Service and clean the appliance regularly.
Adapt your working style to suit the appliance.
Do not overload the appliance.
Have the appliance serviced whenever ne- cessary.
Switch the appliance off when it is not in use.
Wear protective gloves. Residual risks Even if you use this electric power tool in accordance with instructions, certain resi- dual risks cannot be rules out. The following hazards may arise in connection with the equipment’s construction and layout:
3. Health damage caused by hand-arm vib-
rations if the equipment is used over a pro- longed period or is not properly guided and maintained. Anl_GC_ET_4025_4526_SPK7.indb 18 18.12.13 11:40GBGB
5. Before starting the equipment
Before you connect the equipment to the mains supply make sure that the data on the rating plate are identical to the mains data. Always pull the power plug before making adjustments to the equipment.
Place the guard hood (Fig. 3a/Item 12) on the motor head and fasten it to the motor head with the screw (Fig. 3b/Item A).
Place the distance bracket (Fig. 3c/Item 9) on the motor head as shown in Fig. 3c and fas- ten it with the screws (Fig. 3c/Item 14).
5.2 Adjusting the additional handle
(Fig. 4a and 4b) Place the grass trimmer on a rm surface. Swing back the lock (Fig. 4a/Item 5) and adjust the addi- tional handle to the optimum position for yourself (see Fig. 4b). Swing the lock shut (Fig. 4b/Item. 5) to fasten the handle.
5.3 Height adjustment (Fig. 5)
You can set your optimal working position by ad- justing the height.
Undo the lock for the handlebar adjustment (Fig. 5/Item 6).
Pull out the bottom handlebar (Fig. 5/Item 8) to the required length.
5.4 Adjusting the angle of the handlebar
(Figure 6) When the lock is pressed (Fig. 6/Item 15) you can adjust the angle of the handlebar to 5 positions. Set the angle which is best suited for your work. Make sure that there is an audible click when the handlebar engages.
The grass trimmer has a semi-automatic line extension system. Each time you activate the semi-automatic line extension system, the line is automatically extended to ensure that you can cut your lawn with the perfect cutting width at all times. To extend the cutting line run the motor at full speed and tap the line spool on the ground. This will automatically extend the line. The blade on the safety shield will cut the line to the appro- priate length. Please note that the more often you activate the semi-automatic line extension sys- tem, the more the line will wear. Note: If the line is too long when you use the equipment for the rst time, the surplus end of it will be cut by the blade on the guard hood. If the line is too short when you start the machi- ne for the rst time, press the knob on the line spool and pull the line hard. When you start the equipment again the line will be cut to the perfect length automatically. Your grass trimmer will work at its best if you ob- serve the following instructions:
Never use the grass trimmer without its safety devices.
Do not cut grass when it is wet. The best re- sults are had on dry grass.
Connect the power cable to the extension cable and fasten this to the strain-relief clamp (Figure 7/Item 13).
Do not move the grass trimmer against the grass until the switch is pressed, i.e. wait until the trimmer is running.
For the correct cutting action, swing the grass trimmer to the side as you walk forward, hol- ding it at an angle of approx. 30° as you do so (see Figure 8 and Figure 9).
Make several passes to cut long grass shor- ter step by step from the top (see Figure 10).
Use the edge guide and the guard hood to prevent unnecessary wear on the line.
Keep the grass trimmer away from hard ob- jects in order to avoid unnecessary line wear. Anl_GC_ET_4025_4526_SPK7.indb 19 18.12.13 11:40GBGB
Using the grass trimmer as an edge trimmer (Fig. 11) To cut the edges of lawns and ower beds, the grass trimmer can be converted as follows:
Pull the lock in the direction of the arrow (Fig. 11/Item 10).
With the lock pulled, turn the motor head through 90°. (It can be turned 90° to the left and to the right.)
The height adjustment works as described in
Now you have converted the grass trimmer to an edge trimmer for cutting the lawn vertically.
