Dots in visual field
Smaller bright or dark dots in the center of the visual field or slightly enlarged dots in the edge region of the visual field represent no defect on the device, as this is due to the production of the Generation 1 tubes. These dots do not reduce the life span or functionality of your device.

Never use this device to look directly at the sun or in the direct proximity of the sun. Doing so may result in a risk of blindness.

Children should only use the device under adult supervision. Keep packaging material, like plastic bags and rubber bands, out of the reach of children, as these materials pose a choking hazard.
RISK OF FIRE/EXPLOSION!
Do not expose the device to high temperatures. Use only the recommended batteries. Do not short-circuit the device or batteries, or throw them into a fire. Excessive heat or improper handling could trigger a short-circuit, a fire or an explosion.

FIRE RISK!
Do not place the device, particularly the lenses, in direct sunlight. The concentration of light could cause a fire.

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
This device contains electronic components that operate via a power source (batteries). Children should only use the device under adult supervision. Only use the device as described in the manual; otherwise, you run the risk of an electric shock.

RISK OF CHEMICAL BURN!
Leaking battery acid can lead to chemical burns. Avoid contact of battery acid with skin, eyes and mucous membranes. In the event of contact, rinse the affected region immediately with a plenty of water and seek medical attention.

OVERVIEW
The night vision NightSpy is a light amplifier for use in dusk. By using the built-in infrared illuminator (2) obser vations are even possible in complete darkness. The outer surface of the device is coated in rubber. The device can be run regardless of mains power and can be operated with a battery. Your NightSpy is ideal for a variety of professional and recreational uses.

WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS
Your NightSpy night vision was designed to provide many years of reliable service. To ensure that you get the most enjoyment out of your NV Shadow always obey the followingWarnings and Precautions:
- Do not point the NightSpy towards any light source greater than 1 lux (such as car headlights) for an extended period of time. The NightSpy utilizes an internal flash protection system, which minimizes potential damage, but long-term exposure to bright lights can damage the unit. Any such damage may void your warranty.
- Your NightSpy was designed to be self-contained. Do not open the body of the device or otherwise attempt to service this device.
Always store the NightSpy in a dry, well-ventilated room. - Keep the NightSpy away from any heating and air conditioning vents or other heating devices, direct sunlight, and moisture.
- Avoid dropping or otherwise shocking the unit. Although designed for rugged outdoor use, the NightSpy incorporates a sophisticated optical system which could be damaged in extreme cases of misuse.
- Clean optical parts (lenses) with professional lens cleaning supplies
designed for use with multicoated optics.
- Clean the exterior of your NightSpy with a soft, clean cloth.
- Damage to this device from failure to observe these warnings may void the NightSpy's warranty!
BATTERY INSTALLATION
To install, unscrew the battery compartment cover (6), insert the battery (CR123A) into the battery compartment so that the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of the battery match the markings inside the compartment, replace the battery cover carefully. Do not over tighten.
USING THE NIGHTSPY
After installing the battery the NightSpy is ready for use. Please keep the following points in mind:
- Move into a dark area before activating the NightSpy light amplifier.
- Remove the protective cover(s) (5) from the lens / lenses (3).
- Activate the device by pushing the „ON“ button (1).
- If the subject to be viewed is in a complete dark area, including lowlight

shadow areas, activate the infrared illuminator by pressing the "IR" Button (2).
- Set up your device to an object that is about 100 meters away, and adjust the maximum image quality by turning on the eyepiece(s) (4) and on the lens / lenses (3). After the adjustment, do not rotate the eyepiece irrespective of the distance and other conditions.
- The night vision device can now be focused on different distances by turning on the lens / lenses (3).
- After you are satisfied with your observation, deactivate the device by pressing the "ON" button (1), (the green LED will disappear) and place the protective cover(s) (5) back to the lens / lenses.
CAUTION!
Your NightSpy can be used in extreme cold. However, when the unit is brought back into a warm environment, you MUST wait approximately 5 hours before using the unit again. Failure to do so may result in damage as a result of condensation accumulating on the internal circuitry of the unit. With twilight observations, depending on the brightness, the lens /
lenses cover(s) (5) should remain on the lens / lenses with a slight opening for the protection of eyes.
STORAGE
Always store the NightSpy (in its case) in a dry, well ventilated area away from heating/air conditioning vents or other heating devices. Temperature should not be lower than +10^ . Remove the battery if the device is to be stored for longer than 2 months.
TROUBLESHOOTING
- The NightSpy does not work: Make sure that the batteries are installed properly and that they are in good working condition. Depress the "ON" switch to start the NightSpy charging system.
- Condensation collects on the unit: Your NightSpy can be used in extremely cold temperatures. However, when the unit is brought back into a warm environment, you must wait approximately 5 HOURS before using the unit. This is due to condensation that may accumulate on the electronic circuitry.

- I cannot focus the NightSpy: Adjust the objective lens and eyepiece according to the instructions listed in the Operation section of this manual. If the NightSpy still does not focus - clean the optical parts thoroughly - they may be fogged or dirty.
NOTES on Cleaning
Before cleaning the device, disconnect it from the power supply (remove batteries)! Only use a dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. To avoid damaging the electronics, do not use any cleaning fluid. Clean the eyepieces and/or lenses only with a soft, lint-free cloth, (e.g. microfibre cloth). To avoid scratching the lenses, use only gentle pressure with the cleaning cloth. Protect the device from dust and moisture. Store it in the supplied bag or transportation packaging. The batteries should be removed from the unit if it has not been used for a long time.
DISPOSAL

Dispose of the packaging materials properly, according to their type, such as paper or cardboard. Contact your local waste-disposal service or environmental authority for information on the proper disposal.

Do not dispose of electronic devices in the household garbage!
As per Directive 2002/96/EC of the European Parliament on waste electrical and electronic equipment and its adaptation into German law, used electronic devices must be collected separately and recycled in an environmentally friendly manner.
Empty, old batteries must be disposed of at battery collection points by the consumer. You can find out more information about the disposal of devices or batteries produced after 6 January 2006 from your local waste-disposal service or environmental authority.

BRESSER
In accordance with the regulations concerning batteries and rechargeable batteries, disposing of them in the normal household waste is explicitly forbidden. Please make sure to dispose of your used batter -ies as required by law - at a local collection point or in the retail market. Disposal in domestic waste violates the Battery Directive. Batteries that contain toxins are marked with a sign and a chemical symbol. ^己^ cadmium, ^己^ = mercury, ^己^ = lead.
