Frequently Asked Questions - TLSG3216 TP-LINK

How to install the TP-Link TLSG3216 switch?
Place the switch on a flat surface or attach the provided mounting brackets to install it in a 19-inch rack. Plug in the power cord and connect your Ethernet cables to the RJ45 ports. For rack installation, check the rack's grounding and stability before securing the brackets with the provided screws.
How to access the web configuration interface?
Make sure your computer is on the same subnet as the switch (IP address 192.168.0.x with subnet mask 255.255.255.0). Open a browser and enter http://192.168.0.1. Log in with username admin and password admin (lowercase).
What is the default password of the switch?
The default password is admin (lowercase), same as the username. It is recommended to change it after first login for security reasons.
How to reset the switch to factory defaults?
Press the Reset button on the front or rear of the switch for about 10 seconds, then release. The switch will reboot with factory default settings. Note that this erases all custom configurations.
What to do if the web interface is not responding?
Check that your computer is set to a static IP address in the 192.168.0.x subnet (e.g., 192.168.0.100). Ensure the Ethernet cable is properly connected and the switch is powered on. If the problem persists, try a hardware reset.
How to connect an SFP module to the switch?
Gently insert the SFP module (sold separately) into the SFP slot until it clicks into place. Then connect the compatible fiber optic or copper cable to the module. No additional configuration is needed for automatic module detection.
Does the TLSG3216 switch support PoE power?
No, this model does not support Power over Ethernet (PoE). Each connected device must have its own power supply.
How to update the switch firmware?
Download the latest firmware from TP-Link's official website. Log in to the web interface, go to Maintenance or System, then click Firmware Update and choose the downloaded file. Do not power off during the update.
Can the switch be mounted in a rack?
Yes, the TLSG3216 switch is designed for 19-inch rack mounting. Use the provided mounting brackets and secure them with the included screws. For rack attachment, use appropriate bolts (not provided). Ensure the rack is stable and grounded.
What to do in case of failure or malfunction?
First check connections and power. Try a reset. If the problem persists, consult the full manual on our website or contact TP-Link technical support. Do not attempt to repair the device yourself, as this will void the warranty.
