This symbol denotes a possible hazard which could cause injury or damage to the appliance. This symbol indicates a potential burning hazard. Please be especially careful at all times here. IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS Please read the following instructions and keep them on hand for later reference.
1. This appliance can be used by children 8 years and
older, as well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or with lack of experience and/or knowledge, if they are supervised or if they have been instructed with regard to safe use of the appliance and have understood the dangers that can result from use of the appliance. 2. Children must not play with the appliance.
3. Children are not allowed to perform cleaning and user
maintenance, unless they are 8 years of age or older and are supervised.
4. Keep the appliance and the power cord out of the
reach of children under 8 years of age.
5. Connect appliance only to an AC power supply with
voltage corresponding to the voltage on the rating plate.
6. This appliance must not be operated with an external
timer or a remote control system.
7. For reasons of electrical safety, never immerse the
appliance or the power cord in water or other liquids.
8. For reasons of electrical safety, do not clean the appli-
ance in the dishwasher.
9. The switch and power cord should never come into
contact with water or other liquids. If this should occur, all parts must be completely dry before operat- ing the appliance again.

14. Always use the coffee maker on a level, uncluttered

15. The appliance may be used only for brewing coffee,

16. Ensure that the power cord does not hang over the
edge of the counter top or table, since this can cause accidents, for example if small children pull on the cord.
17. Route the power cord so that there is no possibility of
the cord being pulled or tripped over.
18. Do not wrap the power cord around the appliance and
avoid kinking of the power cord to prevent damage.
19. Only use the coffee maker indoors.
20. Ensure that only coffee beans are in the bean con-
tainer. Foreign objects can destroy the grinder.
21. When in use, never cover the coffee maker, since this
could cause the appliance to overheat.
22. To brew coffee, use fresh, clean water and fill the
water tank to at least the lowest mark or at most to the MAX mark.
23. Remove coffee beans or coffee powder that gets into
the water tank, immediately.
24. The blades of the grinder tool are sharp – never stick
your fingers, eating utensils or other objects into the grinder tool – danger of injury!
25. Do not switch on the appliance until after you have
filled the water tank with water.
26. In case of repeated use, allow the appliance to cool
off at least 5 minutes before using it again.
27. Never use the glass coffee pot in the microwave; it is
not suitable for such use.
28. Do not move the appliance as long as it is in opera-
tion, to prevent injuries.
29. Ensure that all users, especially children, are aware
of the danger of injury from escaping steam and hot splashing water – danger of burns!
30. To avoid damage, do not use the appliance with acces-
sories of other manufacturers or brands.
31. Unplug the mains plug from the electrical outlet after

32. Check the appliance, the plug and the power cord
regularly for wear or damage. In the event of dam- age to the power cord or other parts, please send the appliance or the power cord to our customer service organisation for inspection and repair. Unauthorised repairs can result in serious hazards for the user and void the warranty.
33. If the power cord of this appliance is damaged, it
must be replaced by the manufacturer or by the manufacturer’s customer service organisation, or by a person with similar qualifications, to prevent hazards. The manufacturer will not be liable in the event of incorrect assembly, improper or incorrect use or if repairs are carried out by unauthorized third parties. The appliance is very hot during and after operation! Never open the housing of the appliance. This can result in electric shock. The blades of the grinder tool are sharp – never stick your fingers, eating utensils or other objects into the grinder tool – danger of injury!
TIPS FOR PERFECT COFFEE ENJOYMENT
1. Make sure that your coffeemaker is clean and descaled at all times.
2. Keep coffee beans and ground coffee in a tightly closed can and store in a
cool, dark place, but not in the refrigerator.
3. Do not store beans for long time in the appliance to preserve the aroma of

5. Coffee tastes best when it‘s freshly brewed. If coffee is kept warm too long,
it can become bitter.
6. The lid can remain closed when pouring coffee from the pot.

1. Remove all packaging materials and transport safeguards. Keep packaging
materials away from children– danger of suffocation!
2. Clean the glass coffee pot, the water tank and bean container, the filter, as
described in the chapter, “Cleaning and Care”.
3. Wipe off the exterior of the appliance with a damp cloth.
4. Fill the water tank to the MAX marking with tap water. Ensure that there are
no beans in the bean container.
5. Close the lid of the glass coffee pot and place it on the warming plate.
6. Plug the mains plug of the appliance into an electrical outlet (220–240 V ~
7. Turn the control dial to “Coffee Powder”, press “EIN/AUS” and wait until
the procedure is ended.
8. Switch off the appliance by placing the control dial on “Stop”.
9. Pour this water out.
10. Clean the glass coffee pot.
Before brewing coffee for the first time, please run one or two brewing cycles without coffee powder, to remove any residues from the manufacturing process. We also recommend running one brewing cycle without coffee powder, if the appliance has not been in use for an extended period. BREWING COFFEE
1. Open the lid of the coffee maker.
2. Remove the water tank/bean container:
3. Check whether the filter is inserted in the bean container.
4. Fill the water tank with as much fresh, clean water required for the number
of cups of coffee you want to make. You can use the glass coffee pot for this; marks specifying the number of cups are also on the glass coffee pot. Water Important: Never make coffee if the cover of the chamber in the lid is not attached. Coffee residues flying about could get into the interior of the appliance and cause damage. 5. The quantity of water filled in is always slightly higher than the actual quan-
tity of coffee, because the coffee powder absorbs a little water.
6. Fill the coffee beans into the bean container (max. 35 g). Usually a cup or
two cups of coffee needs three spoons of coffee beans, three cups of coffee needs five spoons of coffee beans, and four cups of coffee needs six spoons of coffee beans.
7. Note that the appliance does not detect that there are no beans in the con-

exceed the black MAX marking at the inside of the filter.
9. Alternatively add the desired amount of coffee powder into the filter, to
taste, per cup, 5-7 g (approx. 1 measuring spoon, max. 35 g) coffee powder ground medium fine. Coffee that is ground too fine can clog the pores in the filter, which can cause the coffee maker to overflow.
10. Caution: Always put the coffee beans or the coffee powder into the filter first,
only fill with water after this has been done.
11. Carefully re-insert the water tank/bean container in the appliance.
12. Check whether coffee beans or coffee powder have gotten into the water
tank, if this is the case remove coffee beans or coffee powder to prevent clogging of the water tank.
13. Close the lid of the coffee maker.
NOTE: The appliance will not work unless the top lid is closed well in position.
14. Place the glass coffee pot with the lid closed on the warming plate.

Fine (Fein): If you prefer finely ground beans. The appliance grinds the beans and then brews the coffee. Coarse (Grob): If you prefer coarsely ground beans. The appliance grinds the beans and then brews the coffee. Coffee powder (Pulver): If you want to prepare coffee from coffee beans.
17. Start the grinding and brewing process by pressing the “EIN/AUS” button.
Press the “Stop” button to end the brewing process prematurely.
18. Note: The appliance is operated via a timer. If you open the lid before the
grinding and brewing process has finished, the process will be aborted and Copyright UNOLD AG | www.unold.de25 cannot be continued. This means that you may have to replace the water and beans to obtain an optimal coffee result.
19. If you’d like to select another operating mode after pressing “EIN/AUS”,
open and close the lid of the device briefly.
20. You can remove the pot at any time during the brewing process. The drip
stop prevents residual coffee from dripping out of the filter. Put the pot back under the filter within 30 seconds, so that the filter does not overflow.
21. The warming plate remains switched on as long as the coffee maker is
switched on, in order to keep the coffee remaining in the coffee pot warm. After 40 minutes the appliance automatically switches off. If you do not want the warming function, turn the control dial to “Stop”.
22. After pouring out all of the coffee and emptying the pot completely, do not
place the empty coffee pot on the hot warming plate.
23. Remove the filter and dispose of the coffee grounds.
24. Then clean the appliance.
25. Note: If the appliance aborts the brewing process, the appliance must be
descaled. Additional instructions are provided in the section “Descaling”. The appliance is very hot during and after operation!
Before cleaning, always turn off the appliance and unplug it from the electrical outlet. Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning it. Clean the appliance after every brewing process, particularly if you have used coffee beans.
1. Do not immerse the appliance and power cord in water or other liquids or
wash them in the dishwasher.
2. Open the lid of the appliance and remove the filter. Dispose of the coffee

bottom of the lid with a dry cloth.
4. Remove the chamber on the lid and clean it under flowing water. Thoroughly

1. Regular descaling allows the coffee maker to operate more efficiently, pro-
longs the service life and reduces energy consumption.
2. Use a commercially available descaling product, following the instructions
3. Fill the water tank to the MAX marking with the descaling solution.
4. Alternatively you can also use citric acid instead. Add 25 to 50 g of citric
acid to one litre of water.
5. Place the glass coffee pot on the warming plate.
6. Then turn the control dial to “Pulver”, press “EIN/AUS” and allow approx.
one-third of the water quantity to run through.
7. Switch off the appliance by turning the control dial to “Stop” and let the
descaling solution soak in work for 15 to 30 minutes. If there is heavy scal- ing, you can also leave the solution in the appliance overnight.
5. Wipe off the housing and the warming plate with a damp cloth and a little
dishwashing detergent. Do not use any abrasive scouring agents, steel wool, metallic objects, disinfectants or hot cleaning agents, since they can dam- age the appliance.
6. You can clean the glass coffee pot, its lid, the water tank/bean container,
and the filter in water with a little dishwashing detergent added.
7. The removable parts such as carafe, lid and filter can be cleaned in warm
soapy water or in the dishwasher (this may cause some discoloration, which will, however, not affect the performance of the coffee maker). We recommend cleaning by hand.
8. The appliance must be completely dry before you use it again.
Copyright UNOLD AG | www.unold.de27 GUARANTEE CONDITIONS We grant a 24 months guarantee, and in case of commercial use a 12 months guarantee, starting from the date of purchase for any damage demonstrably due to manufacturing defects and when the appliance has been used according to its intended use. Within the warranty period we will remedy defective materials or workman- ship through repair or replacement, at our option. Our warranty terms apply only to appliances sold in Germany and Austria. For other countries, please contact the responsible importer. In the event of a claim for remedy of defects, please send the appliance to our after sales service, properly packaged and postage paid, together with a copy of the automatically generated sales receipt, which must show the date of purchase, and a description of the defect. If the defect is covered by the warranty, the customer will be reimbursed for the shipping costs only in Germany and Austria. The warranty does not cover damage from normal wear, improper handling and failure to comply with the maintenance and care instructions. The warranty is void if repairs or modifications are made to the appliance by third parties. Any claims of the end consumer vis-à-vis the retailer are not limited by this warranty.
WASTE DISPOSAL / ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Our appliances are produced on a high quality level for a long lifetime. Regular maintenance and expert repairs by our after-sales service can extend the useful life of the appliance. If an appliance is defective and repair is not possible we ask you to follow the following instructions for disposal. Do not dispose this appliance together with your standard household waste. Please bring this product to an approved collection point for recycling of electric and electronic products. By sepa- rate collection and disposal of waste products you help to protect natural resources and ensure, that the product is disposed in an adequate way to protect health and environment.
