  8. The base should never come into contact with water or other liquids. In case this ever happens, it must be completely dry before operating the appliance again.
  9. Do not clean the electric kettle in a dishwasher.

  1. For safety reasons, never place the appliance on hot surfaces, a metal tray or a wet surface.
  2. Do not place the appliance or power cord near open flames during operation.
  3. Always use the electric kettle on a level, uncluttered and heat-resistant surface.
  4. Make sure that the power cord does not hang over the edge of the countertop or table, since this can cause

accidents, for example if small children pull on the cord.

  1. Route the power cord so that there is no possibility of the cord being pulled or tripped over.
  2. Never wrap the power cord around the appliance; instead, use the power cord storage compartment on the bottom of the base.
  3. Use the electric kettle only indoors.
  4. Use the appliance only for heating water. Do not use it to heat milk or other liquids, since they will boil over when heated.
  5. Never heat objects such as cans or bottles in the electric kettle.
  6. Make sure that the lid of the appliance is always completely closed, to prevent injuries from hot splashing water.
  7. Do not open the lid as long as the water is boiling, to prevent injuries from hot splashing water.
  8. Never switch on the appliance if there is no water in the kettle.
  9. Make sure that all users, especially children, are aware of the danger of injury from emerging steam or hot splashing water – danger of burns!
  10. Never fill the appliance with more than 0,6 liters of water, to prevent the water from boiling over.
  11. Do not move the appliance as long as it is in operation, to prevent burns from splashing water.
  12. The electric kettle features boil dry protection, which means the appliance shuts off automatically if the heating element becomes too hot. In this case, allow the appliance to cool down sufficiently. Then fill the electric kettle with cold water. The boil dry protection is deactivated and the appliance is ready for operation again.
  13. Do not use the appliance with accessories of other manufacturers or brands, to prevent damage.

  14. Unplug the appliance from the power supply after use and prior to cleaning. Never leave the appliance unattended when it is plugged in to the power supply.

  15. Check the appliance, the plug and the power cord regularly for wear or damage. In case of damage to the power cord or other parts, please send the appliance or the base for inspection and repair to our after sales service. Unauthorized repairs can result in serious risks to the user and void the warranty.
  16. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.

If the kettle jug is filled beyond its maximum capacity, boiling water can splash out. The appliance becomes very hot during operation and maintains the heat during some time after disconnection.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Boiling water can cause scalding. Therefore, always handle the appliance with caution when it contains hot water.

  1. Remove all packaging and transport safety devices. Keep the packaging material away from children. Choke hazard! Dispose of the packaging materials according to the relevant local waste disposal regulations.
  2. Inspect the appliance for damage. If there is visible damage, do not operate the appliance; instead, contact our Customer Service department.
  3. Wipe off all parts with a moist cloth.
  4. Check that the appliance is stable.
  5. Remove the lid from the container.
  6. Fill the container with 0.6 litres clear, cold water.
  7. Place the lid on the container, pressing lightly. Make sure that the lid is correctly seated.
  8. Connect the power plug to the mains supply (220–240 V\~, 50/60 Hz).
  9. An acoustic signal sounds and the ON/OFF button lights up red; the appliance is in stand-by mode.

  10. Press the ON/OFF button once.

  11. All buttons light up, the "Keep warm" button flashes.

  12. Now press the “100 °C” button. An acoustic signal sounds, the corresponding indicator lamp lights up and the appliance heats the water.

  13. When the water boils, the boil stop shuts off the appliance automatically.

  14. For hygienic reasons, discard the water from the first boiling.

OPERATION

Important: Boil water only when the lid is on the container. Otherwise, boiling water can splash out of the container, which can cause scalding!

  1. Add the desired amount of clear and cold water. You need to add at least 0.3 litres of water, but no more than the maximum capacity of 0.6 litres of water.
  2. Place the lid on the container, pressing lightly. Make sure that the lid is correctly seated.
  3. Connect the power plug to the mains supply (220–240 V\~, 50/60 Hz).
  4. An acoustic signal sounds and the ON/OFF button lights up red. The appliance is in standby mode.
  5. Press the ON/OFF button to switch the appliance on.
  6. All buttons light up and the "Keep warm" button flashes.

Boiling function

  1. Select the desired water temperature by pressing the corresponding button. The following temperatures are available, between lukewarm and a rolling boil: 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 °C. If you do not make any entries for three minutes, the device returns to standby mode.

  2. We recommend the following temperatures: 50 °C for baby food, 70 °C for green or white teas, 90 °C for instant coffee and 100 °C for black teas.

  3. The button for the selected target temperature flashes. While the water is heating, the lower temperature levels light up consecutively, showing the respective water temperature that has been reached.

  4. You can select a higher target temperature at any time while the water is heating by pressing the corresponding button.

  5. After the target temperature is reached, the corresponding button briefly flashes at a fast rate.

  6. Then the appliance automatically switches to stand-by mode.
  7. If you bring water that has already been heated to a boil again, the temperature that has already been reached is displayed via the buttons.
  8. Allow the appliance to cool for several minutes before boiling water again.
  9. You can interrupt boiling at any time by pressing the ON/OFF button.
  10. Boiling water can cause scalding. Therefore, always handle the appliance with caution when it contains hot water.
  11. The appliance features boil dry protection. If running without water or has excessive limescale build-up, the appliance will be switched off by the boil dry protection feature. If this happens, please allow the appliance to cool off briefly before filling it with water again or descale the appliance as described in the chapter “Descaling”.

Keep warm function

  1. After boiling, you can press the “Keep warm” button to keep the water warm for up to 30 minutes.
  2. If the water temperature drops below the set temperature during the keep warm phase, the water will automatically be heated again.
  3. The selected temperature button flashes while the water is heating.
  4. The “keep warm” button and the selected temperature button light up continuously during the entire keep warm phase.
  5. After 30 minutes, the keep warm function automatically switches off and the appliance switches to stand-by mode.
  6. You can interrupt the keep warm process at any time by pressing the ON/OFF button.

Switching off the appliance

  1. The appliance automatically switches to stand-by mode when the container is removed from the base.
  2. You can switch the appliance to stand-by mode at any time by pressing the ON/OFF button.
  3. Unplug the appliance after heating the water. Only then is the appliance completely switched off.

CLEANING AND CARE

Before cleaning, always turn off the appliance and unplug it from the electrical outlet. Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning it.

  1. Do not immerse the base, power cord or kettle in water or other liquids or wash them in the dishwasher.
  2. Wipe off the base and the kettle with a damp cloth and a little dishwashing detergent. Do not use any abrasive scouring agents, steel wool, metal objects, hot cleaning agents or disinfectants, since they can damage the appliance.
  3. The appliance must be completely dry on the outside before you use it again.

DESCALING

  1. To keep the appliance operating efficiently and to prolong its service life, it should be descaled regularly, depending on the hardness of your water.
  2. Use off-the-shelf descaling products for electric kettles and comply with the manufacturer's instructions. To descale, fill the kettle to no more than half full, as the liquid may otherwise boil over and cause severe injuries.
  3. Heat the liquid to no more than 80 °C (do not boil!) and allow it to sit in the kettle for some time.
  4. Pour out the descaling solution.
  5. Next, fill the kettle with fresh water and bring the water to a boil. Pour out this water and then rinse the container with clear water at least twice.

GUARANTEE CONDITIONS

We grant a warranty of 24 months for this UNOLD brand appliance - 12 months for commercial use - from the date of purchase, covering damage that is demonstrably due to factory defects when used as intended. Within the warranty period, we will remedy material and manufacturing defects at our discretion by repair or exchange. Our warranty services apply exclusively to appliances sold in Germany and Austria. For other countries, please contact the responsible importer. Please send appliances for which you seek removal of defects, together with a copy of the machine-generated proof of purchase that shows the date of purchase along with a description of the fault, to our customer service department using suitable packaging. All types of damage attributable to wear and tear, improper handling and non-compliance with the maintenance and care instructions are excluded from the warranty. The warranty claim is void if repairs or interventions on the appliance are carried out by a third party. This manufacturer's warranty does not limit your statutory rights or your claims against the seller or dealer under the purchase contract in accordance with the provisions of the German Civil Code (BGB). Your statutory rights as a consumer, in particular your rights to warranty and the statutory claims for defects in accordance with Sections 437 et seqq. BGB, remain unaffected.
