Disposal
For Testboy customers: Purchasing our product gives you the opportunity to return the instrument to collection points for waste electrical equipment at the end of its lifespan.

The EU Directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE) regulates the return and recycling of waste electrical and electronics equipment. As of 13/08/2005, manufacturers of electrical and electronics equipment are obliged to take back and recycle any electrical devices sold after this date for no charge. Taking measurements
Single measurements

Press this key to activate the laser. Press it again to start measuring. The measured value is displayed immediately.
Continual measurement

Press this key to activate the laser.
Press and hold this key for approximately 3 seconds to activate continual measurement.
Pressing this key again stops the continual measurement.
The current value is shown in the main display, in the auxiliary display the last measured value is shown.
(Continual measurement automatically switches off again after approximately one minute.)
Functions
Addition / subtraction
In all measurements such as distance, area and volume, addition and subtraction can be performed.

Press the button to switch between the addition and subtraction functions. The active function is shown in the display.
When the function has been chosen, you can start the measurements. The main display shows the result. The auxiliary display shows the last measured value.

Press the button in the area or volume functions after all the required measurements have been taken. The result is then calculated and displayed in the main display.
The last measured value is shown in the auxiliary display.
Surface area calculations

Press this key to select the surface area calculation function.
This symbol will be shown in the display.
Press this button to take the first measurement. Press it again to take the second measurement.
After the second value has been obtained, the result will be displayed in the main display.
The last value obtained is shown in the auxiliary display.
Volume calculations

Press this key to select the volume calculation function.
This symbol will be shown in the display.
Press this button to obtain the height, width and depth.
After all three measurements have been taken, the result is calculated and displayed in the main display.
The last value obtained is shown in the auxiliary display.
Indirect measurement
Indirect measurement is very helpful if the target to be measured is inaccessible or does not reflect the laser beam well enough. Using Pythagoras' formula, the distance can be calculated.
Hypotenuse calculation

Press this key to select the indirect measurement function.
This symbol will be shown in the display. (The bottom cathetus flashes.)
Now press this button to measure the hypotenuse. The measured value appears in the auxiliary display.
Press the button again to measure a cathetus. The measured value appears in the auxiliary display.
The calculated value of the other cathetus will now be displayed in the main display.
(To ensure accurate measurements, please make sure that the lies opposite a perfect right-angle.)
Cathetus calculation

Press this key to select the indirect measurement function.
This symbol will be shown in the display. (The hypotenuse flashes.)

Measurement conditions
Range of coverage
The range is limited to 30 meters. At dusk, in the night, or when the target is in the shadows, the range increases even without the use of a target board. Use a target board during daylight or when the target has poor reflective properties.
Target surfaces
Measurement errors are possible if you measure against colourless liquids (e.g. water), dust-free glass, polystyrene or similar semi-transparent surfaces. For targets that reflect very well, the laser beam can be deflected and measurement errors can occur. For non-reflective and dark surfaces, the measurement time can increase.
Care
Do not immerse the device in water. Wipe dirt off with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use aggressive cleaning products or solvents. Handle the device with the same care as you would a telescope or a camera.
Laser Classification
The Testboy® TV 600 produces a visible laser beam which leaves the front side of the device.
The product is a class 2 laser device in line with:
IEC60825-1: 2007 "Safety of laser products"
Class 2 laser products:
Do not stare into the laser beam and do not direct it towards other people unnecessarily. The eye is usually protected by an aversion response, including the blink reflex.

WARNING
Looking directly into the laser beam with optical aids (like binoculars, telescopes for example) can be dangerous.
Countermeasures:
Do not look into the laser beam with optical aids.

CAUTION
Looking into the laser beam can be dangerous for the eye.
Countermeasures:
Never look directly into the laser beam. Make sure that the laser beam is either underneath or above the eye level.
