• Before connecting the appliance to a socket outlet, make sure the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to your local mains voltage.

• For safety reasons, this class I appliance is pro- vided with a plug with earth connection. Always connect this appliance to a mains socket outlet with a protective earthing connection.

• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

• Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be re- placed by the manufacturer or its service agent or similarly qualied person in order to avoid hazard.

• Do not operate the appliance by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.

• The appliance is intended to be used in house- hold and similar applications such as sta kitch- en areas in shops, oces and other working environments, farm houses, by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments, and bed and breakfast type environments.

• CAUTION: Surfaces get hot during operation.

• The bread may burn. Do not use the toaster near or below curtains and other flammable materials or under wall cabinets, as this may cause re.

• The appliance is not intended for outdoor use.

• Frequently remove crumbs from the crumb tray; make sure to put the crumb tray back in position correctly.

• Do not insert oversized foods and metal foil packages into the toaster, as this may cause re or electric shock.

• This appliance is only intended for toasting bread. Do not put any other ingredients in the appliance, in order to avoid hazardous situations.

• The warming rack is only intended for warming up rolls or croissants. Do not put any other in- gredients on the warming rack, in order to avoid hazardous situations.

• Avoid touching the metal parts of the toaster, as they become very hot during operation. Only touch the controls.

• If a slice of bread gets stuck inside the toaster, unplug the appliance and let it cool down. Do not use ngers or sharp objects that can dam- age the heating elements (e.g. knife, fork). Use a dull wooden implement to remove the slice.

• Regularly check if the supply cord, appliance or extension cable are defective. If found defective, do not put appliance into operation. Immediately pull the plug.

• Place the supply cord and, if necessary, an extension cable in such a way that pulling or tripping over it is impossible. Do not allow the supply cord to hang down within easy reach.

• Never carry or pull the appliance by the supply cord. Do not pull the supply cord over sharp edges. Do not jam or bend it.

• Switch the appliance o and disconnect the plug from the mains when not in use. Excess cord can be stored under the appropriate hold- ers on the bottom of the appliance.

• Never pull the plug by the supply cord or with wet hands. Disconnect the mains plug in case of faults during use, before cleaning or moving the appliance, and after use.

• Never put the appliance or supply cord on hot surfaces or near open flames.

• Do not use attachments other than recom- mended by the manufacturer or specied in this manual.

• Do not leave the appliance unattended while turned on or plugged in.13

Intended use This appliance is intended for toasting bread. Only use according to these instructions. Improper use is dangerous and will void any warranty claim. Observe the safety instruc- tions. Disposal The crossed-out wheeled bin logo re- quires the separate collection of waste electric and electronic equipment (WEEE). Electric and electronic equipment may contain dangerous and hazardous substances. Do not dispose of this appliance as unsorted municipal waste. Return it to a designated col- lection point for the recycling of WEEE. By do- ing so, you will help to conserve resources and protect the environment. Contact your retailer or local authorities for more information.

Please read this manual carefully and keep it for future reference. Set desired browning level 1 to 6. Press the carriage lever until it clicks into place. Shorter cable rout- ing. Longer cable routing. After use, unplug the toaster. Before use, plug in the toaster. Crump tray: press rst and then pull tray out. Press lever down to use the integral warming rack. Cleaning and care

1. Unplug the toaster from the mains

supply and allow toaster to cool down.

2. Clean the crumb tray and reinstall it.

3. Wipe the surface of the toaster with a

slightly damp cloth and polish with a soft dry cloth. Do not immerse the unit in water. Do not use caustic or abrasive cleaners. Clean the crumb tray regularly. Do not allow breadcrumbs to accumulate in the bottom of the toaster. Toasting bread Put the bread into the bread slots and select the desired browning level. Push down the carriage lever until it clicks into place. When toasting frozen bread, press the defrost but- ton after having pushed down the carriage lever. Reheating toasted bread Put the already toasted bread into the bread slots. Press the carriage lever until it clicks into place; then press the reheat button . Toasting bread rolls Press the warming rack lever down until the rack is fully lifted. Place the bread roll on the rack and select the desired browning level. Push down the carriage lever until it clicks into place. Before first time use Complete a few toasting cycles without bread in order to prevent unpleasant smell during toasting. Ensure sucient ventilation.15

Caution In the unlikely event that bread or crumpet become jammed, unplug the toaster from the mains supply and let the toaster cool down completely. Carefully remove any residues, ensuring that you do not damage the toaster. Note

• The toasting process can be stopped at any time by pressing the Cancel button.

• Smaller bread slices can be removed by lifting the carriage lever.

• Use toaster on a dry, level surface, leav- ing sucient space on top and all sides for air circulation.
