IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance. Fax +32 2 359 95 50 USE Before plugging in the appliance, put the thermostat knob in "MIN" position. To open the appliance, you just have to raise the handle (5). When using for the first time, wipe the surface of the plates with a damp cloth, then dry. To remove or replace the lower plate, press the release button (11). You may replace this plate with another one that you can find at the back side of the appliance. These plates can easily be attached to the appliance by sliding the clip on the bottom of the plate correctly in the foreseen notch. Close the appliance and plug it in. Both control lamps light up. The appliance is fitted with a thermostat knob, which allows you to select the ideal temperature for each plate set. The following settings can be selected: MIN OFF position 140° Keep warm function 185° Preheating 230° Grill Turn the thermostat knob (3) to the desired position. You may season the plates with butter, margarine or cooking fat. Since the appliance has a non-stick coated surface, the use of butter or oil is optional. Protective coating burn off will cause smoke on first use. This is NOT harmful. The temperature indicator light will go out when the cooking temperature is reached. During use, this ready light will come on and off regularly. This simply means that the thermostat is regulating the appliance's temperature.

TO AVOID BURNS, WAIT UNTIL THE APPLIANCE HAS TOTALLY COOLED DOWN BEFORE CHANGING THE PLATES. Cooking modes You can choose between several cooking modes. You have 3 options : « panini », « griddle », « raclette ». To make a choice, you have to put the handle and the upper plate vertically and then turn the cooking mode regulator (8) to the desired position. Raclette or keep warm function This function allows you to cook food by letting air circulate between the presses. This function can also be used to keep the food warm after the cooking time has elapsed, for example if your second sandwich is ready while you are still eating the first one. Griddle function This function allows you to cook food – especially meat – on the grill. By keeping the two plates in horizontal position and next to each other, you can increase the grill surface. Fax +32 2 359 95 50 Panini function This function allows you to cook food and in particular sandwiches (croque monsieur or paninis) on both sides by pressing the foodstuffs between the two plates. CLEANING Before cleaning, unplug and wait for the appliance and the plates to cool down. Wipe the outside with only a slightly moistened cloth ensuring that no moisture, oil or grease enters the cooling slots. To remove the upper plate, press the release button (6) and pull the plate towards you. This plate can be put back by placing the locking lugs and pressing until the release button clicks into place. To remove the lower plate, press the release button (11). If you remove them from the appliance, you can wash them under running water. However, if you let them in the appliance, wipe the plates with a damp cloth or towel. Dry them afterwards. Never place the plates into the dishwasher. You can also remove the drip tray which is situated at the back of the appliance. Hold it upright while you pull it out and clean it with soapy water. Do not clean the inside or outside with any abrasive scouring pad or steel wool as this will damage the non-stick coating. Do not use sharp or metallic utensils as they might damage the non-stick coating. Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
