How to prepare popcorn with the Bomann CB 1081?

Fill the measuring cup with popcorn kernels (without oil or sugar). Remove the transparent lid, pour the kernels into the opening, then replace the lid. Place a heat-resistant container under the front slot. Plug in the appliance and turn it on. After about 1 minute, popcorn starts to fall. Turn off the appliance when the popping becomes infrequent. Let it cool for 10 minutes before making another batch.

Can I add sugar or oil to the appliance?

No, never pour oil, sugar, or any other food into the appliance. This can damage it and cause a fire. Add seasonings only after cooking, on the ready popcorn.

Why isn't my corn popping?

Make sure to use only popcorn kernels. Kernels left in the appliance after use are normal (10 to 20 unpopped kernels). If too many kernels remain, check that the appliance is properly plugged in and the lid is correctly placed. Let it cool for 10 minutes before using again.

• The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not fit for commercial use. Do not use it outdoors (except if it is designed to be used outdoors). Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately. Do not put it in water.
• When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull on the plug, not the cable) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
• Never leave the appliance unsupervised. To protect children from the dangers posed by electrical appliances, make sure that the cable is hanging low and that children do not have access to the appliance.
• Check the appliance and the cable for damage on a regular basis. Do not use the appliance if it is damaged.

Special safety instructions for this device

• ATTENTION: Do not fill the appliance with oil, sugar or other ingredients! These may damage the appliance and in certain circumstances also cause fires!
• If you wish to add salt or butter to your popcorn, do so once the popcorn is ready and has been removed from the appliance!
• Make sure that the lid, the basis appliance and the measuring beaker are assembled correctly!
• Leave the appliance to cool for at least 10 minutes before using it again.
• Clean and the appliance away once it is completely cool.
• WARNING! The appliance generates extremely high temperatures. DANGER OF BURNING!

Before using the first time

The following instructions need to be followed only when using the appliance for the first time after removing it from the packing:

• Clean the transparent lid and the measuring beaker with a moist cloth.
• Place the appliance on a non-slip and level surface.

• Place the transparent lid on the appliance.
• Insert the measuring beaker in the opening in the top of the transparent lid.
• Insert the plug into a duly installed 230V/50Kz protective contact socket and switch on the appliance. Make it work for about 3 minutes without any ingredients in it to eliminate any impurities that may be present in the appliance!
• Then leave the appliance to cool for 10 minutes! The appliance is now ready for use!

Use

1. Fill the beaker the popcorn. (Please use only corn for popping).
2. Take the transparent lid off the appliance and pour in the contents of the beaker through the popping slot.
3. Fit the transparent lid back on the appliance and insert the measuring beaker in the opening in the top of the lid.
4. Place a heat-resistant bowl with a capacity of 3-4 liters under the opening in the transparent lid.
5. Insert the plug into a duly installed 230V/50Kz protective contact socket and switch on the appliance with the ON/OFF button.
6. The popping procedure starts after about 1 min.: the corn pops and falls out of the opening in the lid into the bowl.
7. When you start to hear only occasional „pops“, switch the appliance off. Usually 10 to 20 kernels remain in the appliance without popping.
8. If you wish to make another portion, remove the remaining kernels of corn from the appliance. Leave the appliance to cool down at least for 15 minutes between the cooking of two consecutive portions!
9. Switch off the appliance after use with the ON/OFF button and pull out the plug.

Add the ingredients / Melt the butter

The measuring beaker can also be used as a butter melting container!

1. Follow steps 1 to 4 of the operating instructions.
2. Put a piece of butter in the measuring beaker and add, if you like, a bit of sugar. Do not overfill the measuring beaker. There is the risk that the butter in excess can flow into the appliance and hence damage it.
3. Follow steps 5 to 7 of the operating instructions.
4. Remove the measuring beaker with caution once the procedure is over.

6. Pour the contents of the measuring beaker on the popcorn.
7. Spread the butter by shaking and turning the container delicately.
8. In stead of the sugar you can also add cocoa or other ingredients!

Cleaning

• Wash the transparent lid and the measuring beaker in a normal sink.
• Clean the main part of the appliance with a slightly moist cloth without any detergents!
• Dry the appliance well before using it again or putting it away after cleaning!

The cleaning, servicing and replacement of wear parts are not covered by this warranty and hence are to be paid for.
