How to use the Bomann CB 597 kettle?

Place the kettle on a flat surface, open the lid using the button on the handle, fill with water between the MIN and MAX marks, close the lid, place the kettle on its base, plug the appliance into a 230V socket, then press the On/Off button. The indicator light turns on. The appliance automatically turns off when boiling. When pouring, keep the lid closed to avoid burns.

How to clean the anti-scale filter?

Unplug the appliance. Lift the filter by the tab at the top, then rinse it under running water to remove limescale deposits. Replace it by clipping it back in.

What is the maximum capacity of the kettle?

The maximum capacity is indicated by the MAX mark on the water level indicator. It is approximately 1.7 liters. Never exceed this limit to avoid boiling water splashes.

Can I use the kettle without the lid closed?

No, the lid must always be properly closed during operation and pouring to avoid burns. The appliance might not shut off correctly if the lid is open.

What if the kettle does not turn on?

Check that the appliance is properly plugged in and that the base is well connected. Make sure the water level is between MIN and MAX. If the appliance still does not turn on, it may be in thermal safety (overheating) or defective. Contact after-sales service.

How to descale the kettle?

Use a descaling product based on citric acid available commercially. Follow the dosage instructions. Do not use vinegar. After descaling, boil twice with clean water to rinse.

Can the kettle boil dry?

No, the appliance is equipped with an automatic safety shut-off in case of dry boiling. However, always avoid operating the kettle without water to prevent damage.

Can I use the kettle on a non-matching base?

No, use only the base provided with the appliance. Using another base could cause malfunction or a safety risk.

How to avoid burns when pouring?

Always keep the lid closed while pouring. Hold the kettle only by the handle. Do not pour too quickly to avoid splashing.

What is the warranty for this product?

The warranty is 24 months from the date of purchase, upon presentation of the receipt. It covers material and manufacturing defects. Wear parts and accidental damage are not covered.

• Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing.
• The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not fit for commercial use. Do not use it outdoors (except if it is designed to be used outdoors). Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately. Do not put it in water.
• When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull on the plug, not the cable) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
• Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you should leave the workplace, always switch the machine off or remove the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead).
• To protect children from the dangers posed by electrical appliances, make sure that the cable is hanging low and that children do not have access to the appliance.
• Check the appliance and the cable for damage on a regular basis. Do not use the appliance if it is damaged.

Special Safety Instructions for this Machine

• Use only cold water when fi lling.
• The water level must be between the MAX. and MIN. marks!
• Do not exceed the MAX mark when fi lling, otherwise the water may boil over and cause burns!
• Use the appliance only on a level work surface.
• Only use the kettle with the accompanying base.
• Switch the machine off before removing it from the base.
  Always ensure that the lid is tightly closed.
• The base and exterior of the machine must not become wet.

First Use of the Machine

• Please read these operating instructions carefully and keep them in a safe place.

• Before using for the first time, boil fresh water at least twice in the appliance. Use only water without any additives or ingredients.

Use

1. Place the machine on a flat surface.
2. Open the kettle with the button in the handle. Fill it with water. Fill only up to the maximum mark (MAX). You can check the level on both sides of the appliance with the water level display.
3. Close the lid.
4. Place the kettle fl ush on the base.

6. Check whether the electrical voltage that you intend to use is the same as that of the machine. Details are to be found on the label on the base.

7. Only connect the machine to a properly installed 230V , 50Hz safety socket.

8. Switch on the kettle by pressing the switch. The control lamp in the switch lights up.

9. When the water is boiling the kettle switches itself off automatically unless you press the switch to interrupt or stop the water from boiling. Disconnect the kettle from the mains. When pouring the water out, keep the lid closed. Danger of scalding!

Cleaning

• Always pull out the plug from the socket before cleaning!
• The exterior of the machine should be cleaned, if necessary, with a slightly damp cloth without additives.
• For cleaning purposes the lime fi iter can be removed by pulling upwards by the tab. Remove the lime deposits by rinsing the fi iter under running water.

Decalcification

• The frequency of the decalcifying operation depends on the hardness of the water and on how often the appliance is used.
• If the machine switches off before the water boils, it probably needs to be decalcified.
• Please do not use vinegar but a commercially available decalcifi cation agent on the basis of citric acid. Only use the quantities stated in the instructions.

This device has been tested according to all relevant current CE guidelines, such as electromagnetic compatibility and low voltage directives, and has been constructed in accordance with the latest safety regulations.

The device supplied by our Company is covered by a 24 month guarantee starting on the date of purchase (receipt).

During the life of the guarantee any fault of the device or its accessories *) ascribable to material or manufacturing defects will be eliminated free of charge by repairing or, at our discretion, by replacing it. The guarantee services do not entail an extension of the life of the guarantee nor do they give rise to any right to a new guarantee!

Proof of the guarantee is provided by the proof of purchase. Without proof of purchase no free replacement or repair will be carried out.

If you wish to make a claim under the guarantee please return the entire machine in the original packaging to your dealer together with the receipt.

Defects to consumables or parts subject to wearing (e.g. motor pistons, kneading blades, drive shafts, spare remote control, spare toothbrushes, saw blades, etc.) as well as cleaning, maintenance or the replacement of said parts are not covered by the guarantee and hence are to be paid!

The guarantee lapses in case of unauthorized tampering.

After the expiry of the guarantee repairs can be carried by the competent dealer or repair service against the payment of the ensuing costs.
