General Safety Instructions

Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing.

  • The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not fit for commercial use.   • Do not move the device and do not touch it when it is working.
  • The water level must be between the MAX. and MIN. marks!
  • Do not exceed the MAX mark when filling, otherwise the water may boil over and cause burns!

  • Only use the kettle with the accompanying base.
  • Switch the machine off before removing it from the base.
  • Always ensure that the lid is tightly closed.
  • The base and exterior of the machine must not become wet.
  • Please do not open the lid when the water is boiling.

Instructions

Please read these operating instructions carefully and keep them in a safe place. If you sell or give this article to other people please also pass on these instructions.

Preparation

Before using for the first time, boil fresh water at least twice in the appliance. Use only water without any additives or ingredients.

Mains Lead

Completely unwind the length of mains lead that you require from the bottom section of the base. Please ensure that the mains lead does not become tangled up.

i NOTE:

Always use fresh water.
- Do not consume any water that has already been in the water container for more than one hour.
- Do not re-boil water that has been allowed to cool down.
Always pour old water away.

Thermostat

Thanks to the adjustable thermostat you can use this device to keep water warm or continue cooking.

Use

Boiling Water and Automatic Switch-Off

  1. Place the machine on a fl at surface.
  2. Open the water boiler with the button on the lid. Then fill it with clear water. You can read off the level on the internal water level indicator. Fill only up to the maximum mark (MAX).
  3. Close the lid until it is heard to lock into place and is fixed firmly in position.
  4. Place the kettle fl ush on the base.
  5. Electrical connection

  6. Check whether the electrical voltage that you intend to use is the same as that of the machine. Details are to be found on the label on the base.

  7. Only connect the machine to a properly installed 230 V, 50Hz safety socket.

  8. Move the thermostat to MAX and turn the device on by the switch on the handle. To control lamp lights up.

  9. After boiling has fi nished the kettle switches off automatically, or you can push the switch upwards to interrupt or stop the boiling process.

WARNING: Danger of scalding!

  • When pouring the water out, keep the lid closed.
  • During operation the housing becomes hot. Do not touch it and allow the device to cool down before storing it away.

  • Always pour water that is no longer required away immediately.

Heating Water

  1. Place the machine on a fl at surface.
  2. Follow the steps as described in the section,Boiling water and automatic switch-off" point 1-5.
  3. Move the thermostat to a value between .MIN" and .MAX" and turn the device on with the switch. The control lamp lights up.
  4. The temperature has been reached when the control lamp goes out.
  5. If you would like to stop heating and remove some of the water, turn the device off by the switch.

Switching off

  • If you wish to switch the device off, turn the switch to 0 (off), the thermostat to MIN and remove the plug from the socket. The control lamp goes off.
  • Emptying the water container.

Mains Cable Take-up Device

The mains cable can be wound up on the base.

Cleaning

  • Always pull out the plug from the mains socket before cleaning and wait until the unit has cooled down.
  • Do not use any wire brush or other abrasive objects.
  • Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents.
  • Never immerse the device or the base in water or other liquids.

Water Container

  • Rinse the water container out with clean water. Then dry it off with a cloth.

Exterior of the Housing

  • Clean the housing after use with a slightly damp cloth.

Decalcif cation

  • The frequency of the decalcifying operation depends on the hardness of the water and on how often the appliance is used.
  • If the machine switches off before the water boils, it probably needs to be decalcified.
  • Please do not use vinegar but a commercially available decalcifi cation agent on the basis of citric acid. Only use the quantities stated in the instructions.

NOTE:

After descending the device boil fresh water in it several times (approximately 3-4 times) in order to remove any residues. Do not consume this water.

Troubleshooting

  • It is not possible to switch the machine on.

Possible Cause:

After being used without or with too little water the machine has not cooled down sufficiently.

Remedy:

Allow the machine to cool down for 15min

  • The machine switches off before the water has boiled.

Possible Cause:

The heated base is coated with too much lime or the circuit of the plug is overloaded.

Remedy:

Descale the machine as instructed.

Check the mains connection.

The machine does not switch off.

Possible Cause:

The lid is not closed.

Remedy:

Close the lid until it locks in place.
