Important safety instructions ∙ In order to avoid hazards, repairs to this electrical appliance or its power cord must be carried out by our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see appendix). ∙ Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely. ∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water. ∙ The grill plate and mini-pans can be cleaned in warm soapy water. For detailed information on cleaning the appliance, please refer to the section Cleaning and care. ∙ The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system. ∙ This appliance may only be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved. ∙ Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance. ∙ Children must only be permitted to carry out any cleaning or GB9 maintenance work on the appliance if they are supervised and at least 8 years of age. ∙ The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times. ∙ Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – such materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation. ∙ Before the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any fi tted attachment should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on its operational safety. ∙ The power cord should be regularly examined for any signs of damage. In the event of any being found, the appliance must no longer be used. ∙ Do not allow the power cord to touch any hot part of the appliance. ∙ Caution: danger of burns. The housing surfaces, grill areas and mini-pans become hot during use. ∙ Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use. ∙ During operation, the appliance must be placed on a heat-resistant surface, impervious to splashes and stains. When cooking food with a high fat or moisture content, splashes are not always avoidable. ∙ Do not position the grill next to a wall or corner, and ensure that no infl ammable materials are stored near it. ∙ Before use, the grill plate must be positioned and locked on top of the appliance, above the heating element. ∙ Caution: do not operate the appliance outdoors. ∙ Always remove the plug from the wall socket - after use, - in case of any malfunction, and - before cleaning the appliance. ∙ When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself. ∙ This appliance should only be used with the attachments provided by the manufacturer. ∙ Always allow suffi cient time for the appliance to cool down before removing the grill plate, and before cleaning or storing the unit. ∙ No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with. ∙ This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as - in shops, offi ces and other similar working environments, - in agricultural working environments, - by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar establishments, - in bed-and breakfast type environments. Before fi rst use ∙ Remove any packing materials completely. ∙ Before switching on the appliance for the fi rst time, clean the grill plate and mini-pans with a damp cloth. ∙ Heat the appliance and the pans for about 15 minutes, without any food in, to eliminate the smell typically encountered when fi rst switching on a grill (a small amount of10 smoke may also be noticeable). Adequate ventilation should be ensured by opening windows or balcony doors. ∙ Let the grill cool down again. ∙ Clean it as described in the section ‘Cleaning and care’. Grill plate Before the appliance is switched on, position the grill plate on top of the appliance over the heating element and lock it. To lock, push the grill plate down and move it towards the symbol so that the protruding studs are safely engaged. To unlock, push the plate towards the symbol. Operation ∙ Fit the grill plate onto the unit, as described above. Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket and turn the appliance on. ∙ After a pre-heating time of about 10 minutes, the grill plate is ready for use. Place the food to be cooked on the grill plate. We recommend fi rst applying a light coat of oil to the plate to prevent sticking. ∙ Put the raclette cheese into the mini-pans and place them into the appliance under the heating element; then leave them until the cheese has melted.

Warning: Do not place empty mini-pans

in the appliance while it is switched on, but leave them on a heat-resistant surface. ∙ Switch off and unplug the appliance from the mains after use. How to prepare raclette cheese Use about 200 to 300 grammes of cheese per person. Cut the cheese into slices about 3 to 5 mm thick and put them into the mini- pans. It is preferable to use original raclette cheese but any other fast-melting cheese is also suitable. Practical hints ∙ Frozen food should always be properly thawed before it is cooked. ∙ To avoid damage to the coating of the mini-pans and the grill plate, only a wooden or heat-resistant plastic spatula should be used during grilling. Cleaning and care ∙ Before cleaning the appliance, always make sure that the plug has been removed from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool down completely. ∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water. ∙ Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions. ∙ Wipe the outer surfaces of the grill with a clean damp cloth. ∙ Take the grill plate off and clean it in warm soapy water; dry thoroughly with a soft cloth afterwards. Disposal Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as they contain valuable materials which can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health. Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter. Guarantee This product is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase.11 Under this guarantee the manufacturer undertakes to repair or replace any parts found to be defective, providing the product is returned to one of our authorised service centres. This guarantee is only valid if the appliance has been used in accordance with the instructions, and provided that it has not been modifi ed, repaired or interfered with by any unauthorised person, or damaged through misuse. This guarantee naturally does not cover wear and tear, nor breakables such as glass and ceramic items, bulbs etc. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights, nor any legal rights you may have as a consumer under applicable national legislation governing the purchase of goods. If the product fails to operate and needs to be returned, pack it carefully, enclosing your name and address and the reason for return.
