USER MANUAL FS 3609 SEVERIN
Before using the appliance, please read the following instructions carefully and keep this manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by persons familiar with these instructions.
Connection to the mains supply
Make sure that the supply voltage corresponds with the voltage marked on the rating label of the appliance. This product complies with all binding CE labelling directives.

Important safety instructions
In order to avoid hazards, repairs to this electrical appliance or its power cord must be carried out by
our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see appendix).
- Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
- This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.
Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance.
Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance unless they are supervised.
The appliance and its power cord
must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times.
- Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children - such materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.
Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
Warning:
Do not touch the sealing wire or silicone gasket. There is a danger of burns.
- Do not attempt to remove liquid of any kind by means of the suction function.
Always remove the plug from the wall socket
-in case of any malfunction,
- after use, and also
- before cleaning the appliance.
- When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself.
- Do not allow the housing or the power cord to touch hot surfaces such as hotplates, or come into contact with any open heat sources.

No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as -
in shops, offices and other similar
working environments,
- in agricultural working environments,
- by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar establishments,
- in bed-and breakfast type environments.
Intermittent operation
The appliance is designed for intermittent operation only, ie it must be allowed to cool down for around 20 seconds after each cycle, before it can be used again. Also, to prevent overheating, it must be allowed to cool down for two minutes after a total operating time of 10 minutes.
Preparing the bags
Put the prepared food into a bag.
Ensure that the bag opening remains absolutely clean and dry.
- Fill the bags only up to max. 6 cm below the opening.
If necessary, the food may be dabbed with a kitchen towel to remove any residual liquid from the outside.
Operation
Preparing for sealing
- Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet.
- Use the On/Off switch at the rear to turn the appliance on.
- Firmly push in the release buttons on the right and left of the appliance to open the cover.
- Lift up the cover.
- Place the filled bag with its open end connecting with the two attachment points. The bag opening must be clean and free of any wrinkles or creases where it touches the silicone gasket.
- Fold the cover down.
- Push the outer edges of the cover firmly
down until it is heard locking into place on both sides.
Air extraction and sealing
Press the left-hand button ( ).
The indicator light on the left is on while the air is being extracted from the bag.
Once all the air is extracted, the bag opening is automatically sealed. The indicator light on the right comes on.
- Once the process is finished, both indicator lights go out and the bag can be removed. To do so, firmly push in the release buttons and open the cover.
To interrupt the process, press the stop button () .
Sealing only:
- Press the right-hand button().

Tip: Should any residual liquid be found inside the sealed seam, pull the bag out slightly, wipe the seam dry where necessary and let it go through another sealing cycle. Caution: The bag opening must be absolutely dry. Only that way, a safe, airtight seal is guaranteed.
- To prevent the appliance from overheating, it must be allowed to cool down for around 20 seconds before the next sealing cycle is started.
Always switch the appliance off after use and disconnect it from the mains.
Power cord storage
There is a wind-up storage for the power cord on the underside of the unit.
Cleaning and care
- Before cleaning the appliance, always remove the plug from the wall outlet.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
The exterior of the housing may be cleaned with a damp, lint-free cloth.
To clean the sealing wire and silicone gasket of any persistent plastic residues, allow the appliance to cool down first and then carefully remove the residues.
Replacement bags
Any regular vacuum foil bags with a knobbed surface structure on one side may be used with this appliance. This type of surface allows optimum air extraction. The width of the bag must not exceed 30 cm.
Suitable replacement bags are available at household stores or may be obtained through SEVERIN Service, quoting article no. ZU 3607 (20 x 30 cm) and ZU 3612 (30 x 40 cm).
Disposal

Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as they contain valuable materials
which can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health. Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter.
Guarantee
This product is guaranteed against defects
in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase. Under this guarantee the manufacturer undertakes to repair or replace any parts found to be defective, providing the product is returned to one of our authorised service centres. This guarantee is only valid if the appliance has been used in accordance with the instructions, and provided that it has not been modifi ed, repaired or interfered with by any unauthorised person, or damaged through misuse.
This guarantee naturally does not cover wear and tear, nor breakables such as glass and ceramic items, bulbs etc. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights, nor any legal rights you may have as a consumer under applicable national legislation governing the purchase of goods. If the product fails to operate and needs to be returned, pack it carefully, enclosing your name and address and the reason for return. If within the guarantee period, please also provide the guarantee card and proof of purchase.
