The device must always be disconnected from the mains power when it is left unattended and before assembling, disassembling or cleaning the device.
- Do not make any changes to the device. Also do not replace the mains cable yourself. If the device, the mains cable or the plug of the device is damaged, they must be replaced by the manufacturer or customer service department or a similarly qualified person (e.g. specialist workshop) in order to avoid any hazards.
The device is not designed to be operated with an external timer or a separate remote control system.

Dangers of Injury

Danger of suffocation! Keep children and animals away from the packaging material.
Danger of scalding from hot water! Be very careful when using the hot water dispenser to make sure that you are not scalded by splashing water. As the vessel also becomes hot due to the hot water, hold it securely by the handle or use potholders. Children should not use the hot water dispenser.
Danger of scalding from steam escaping! Never open the water tank cover when the coffee machine is switched on. Also do not pour any water into the water tank while the coffee machine is hot! Hot steam or hot spray water may escape. Always switch off the device first and allow it to cool down before you add any more water.

Danger of burns! The hotplate, the filter and filter holder are hot during the brewing process and immediately afterwards. There may also be hot water inside the filter and filter holder. Let these parts cool down before you touch them.
Danger of scalding! Do not move the device while it is operating.
The device should not be used if it is damaged. Switch off the device and pull the mains plug out of the plug socket if an error occurs during operation.
The prepared drinks are hot; be careful when handling hot liquids.
Do not use the coffee jug if its handle is loose or damaged.
- Do not place the device right at the edge of tables or kitchen counters and do not allow the mains cable to hang over the edge of the surface it is placed on. Others may become caught and pull the device down.
Lay the mains cable or an extension cable in such a way that it does not present a trip hazard.

Danger of Electric Shock and Fire

The device should only be connected to a properly installed plug socket with safety contacts. The plug socket must also be readily accessible after connection so that the connection to the mains can quickly be isolated. The mains voltage must match the technical data of the device. Only use suitable extension cables whose technical data is the same as that of the device.
- Never immerse the device, mains cable or plug in water or other liquids and ensure that they cannot fall into water or become wet.
Should the device fall into water, switch off the power supply immediately. Do not attempt to pull the device out of the water while it is still connected to the mains power!
- Never touch the device, mains cable or plug with wet hands when these components are connected to the mains power.

Avoiding Damage to Material, Property and the Device

  • Maintain a sufficient distance from heat sources such as hobs or ovens in order not to damage the device. Do not place any naked flames, e.g. burning candles, in the immediate vicinity of the device, cable or plug.
    Lay the mains cable in such a way that it does not become squashed or bent and does not come into contact with hot surfaces (this also applies to the hot surfaces of the device!).
    Always place the device on a dry, level, firm and heat-resistant surface..
    Only use the device if all components have been inserted correctly and the water tank is filled correctly! The amount of water must be between the bottom and top marking of the water level indicator.

- Do not place the device below kitchen wall units or similar cupboards. The rising steam could cause damage to them!

- Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, wide temperature variations, moisture, wet conditions or direct sunlight.
- Do not use any caustic or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the device. These can damage the surface.

Notes on Hygiene

Only ever use fresh drinking water. Do not use any water that comes from a bath, wash basin or other containers.
- There may still be some production residues on the device and the accessories. To avoid harmful effects to your health, clean the device and all accessories before you use them for the first time. It is essential that you follow the cleaning instructions in the "Cleaning and Descaling" chapter.

CAUTION!

  • Keep children and animals away from the packaging material. There is a danger of suffocation!

  • Unpack the device and check the items supplied for completeness (see the "Items Supplied and Device Overview" chapter) and transport damage. If you find any damage, do not use the device (!), but contact our customer service department.

  • Remove any films and stickers that may be present from the device.

  1. To flush through all the lines etc. and to rid them of any possible production residues, we recommend the following: let two full tanks of water run through the coffee machine without any coffee powder and through the hot water dispenser and then pour away the water. To do this, follow the instructions in the "Use" chapter.
  2. Then clean the filter holder (2) and the coffee jug (13) with hot water and a little detergent.

CAUTION!

In the interest of your own safety, inspect the device for damage each time before you use it. Only use the device if it along with its mains cable and plug have no signs of damage!
- Never switch on the device without water in the water tank! The pump may be damaged. Fill the water tank at least up to the bottom marking.
Do not overfill the water tank! Do not exceed the MAX marking in the water tank.
Clean the device regularly in the manner described in the "Cleaning and Descaling" chapter.

  1. Place the device on a level, firm and heat-resistant surface. Make sure it is a sufficient distance away from kitchen wall units etc. as steam will escape from the device.
  2. Plug the mains plug into a properly installed, easily accessible plug socket which corresponds to the technical data of your device. Make sure that the mains cable is neither squashed nor bent and cannot come into contact with hot surfaces.
  3. You can now brew coffee and use the hot water dispenser (see below).

  1. Open the cover (1) of the hot water tank.
  2. Pour drinking water into the hot water tank (4). The amount of water must be between the bottom and top marking of the water level indicator (3). The MAX marking in the hot water tank also represents the maximum amount of water that can be poured in.

  1. Flip down the cover and press the I/O On/Off button (20). The button lighting is activated and on the display the symbol fl ashes while the water in the tank is being heated.

  1. Once the water has heated up, the green control lamp (21) lights up. NOTE: The water is kept warm for approx. 2 hours, then the hot water dispenser switches off automatically.

Hold a cup or a mug under the hot water outlet (6) and press the cup or mug against the lever (8). This will open the hot water outlet. It closes when the lever is released.

  1. To switch off the hot water dispenser, press the I/O On/Off button. The button lighting and the symbol on the display then go out.

  2. Empty the hot water tank if you are not going to use the device for several days (see below). Empty the collecting tray (11) if water has collected in it.

CAUTION!

Danger of scalding! The water in the hot water tank becomes hot during operation. Do not reach into the hot water tank and wait until the water has cooled down before you empty the tank.

  1. Remove the mains plug from the plug socket and allow the water in the hot water tank to cool down.
  2. Hold the bottom of the device over a sink or similar outlet.

  1. Pull out the seal plug (9) of the hot water tank and allow all of the water to run out of the tank.
  2. Push the seal plug back into the opening on the bottom of the device. Make sure that it fits properly so that the hot water tank is sealed when it is filled again.

Making Coffee

CAUTION!

Danger of burns from steam escaping! Never open the water tank cover when the coffee machine is switched on. Also do not pour any water into the water tank while it is hot! Hot steam or hot spray water may escape. Always switch off the coffee machine first and allow it to cool down before you add any more water.
Danger of burns! The hotplate, the filter and filter holder are hot during the brewing process and immediately afterwards. There may also be hot water inside the filter and filter holder. Let the filter and filter holder cool down before you touch them.
Before you first operate the device, make sure that the water tank cover is closed and that the filter and the filter holder are inserted correctly so that the water can run through the coffee powder without any problems.
- Do not operate the coffee machine unattended so that you can intervene immediately in the event of any malfunctions (e.g. overflow etc.). If the filter does overflow, switch the device off immediately and allow the filter holder to cool down before you remove it.

The device has overheating protection which prevents the device from being switched on again directly after a brewing process for safety reasons. After a brewing process, you should therefore wait for a few minutes until the device has cooled down before you start another brewing process.

  1. Open the water tank cover (18).
  2. Insert the filter holder (2) into the filter compartment (17). Make sure that it fits properly.
  3. Insert a filter paper bag of size 1x4 into the filter holder.
  4. Pour in the quantity of coffee powder you want (generally one heaped spoonful per cup).

  1. Pour fresh drinking water into the water tank (16). CAUTION: Do not pour the water into the filter holder! The feed openings are located next to the fiiter holder. Make sure that the amount of water is between the bottom and top marks on the water level indicator (15).

The filter holder has a non-drip valve. You can also take the coffee jug from the hotplate during the brewing process and pour yourself a cup of coffee. But beware: Place the coffee jug back on the hotplate within 1 minute to prevent the fi liter from overfl owing!

  1. When all of the coffee has run through, you can take the coffee jug off the hotplate and serve the coffee.

  2. When the jug is empty, switch off the coffee machine. To do this, press the I/O On / Off button. The button lighting and the symbol on the display then go out. Otherwise the hotplate continues heating for around another 30 minutes. The coffee machine then switches off automatically.

  3. After use, clean the filter holder and the coffee jug in the manner described in the "Cleaning and Descaling" chapter.

Setting the Time

You can use the 00:- button (22) to set the hours (2 x 12h counting: AM from midnight to midday; PM from midday to midnight) and use the --:00 button (23) to set the minutes.

Keep pressing the relevant button until the time you want is displayed. To run through the digits quickly, hold down the buttons.

Timer Function

CAUTION!

Before you activate the timer, make sure that there is a sufficient amount of water in the water tank.

You can choose a start time at which the hot water dispenser and / or the coffee machine will automatically be switched on. Both the hot water dispenser and the coffee machine have their own timer. Both timers are programmed independently of one another. But they can be activated at the same time. To do this, perform the following steps:

  1. Make sure that the correct time is set on the device (see the "Setting the Time" chapter).
    2a. If coffee is to be brewed, fill the coffee machine in the manner described in the "Making Coffee" section and place the coffee jug on the hotplate.
    2 b. If you want to programme the timer of the hot water dispenser and it is switched on, switch it off using the I/O On / Off button (20).

Programme the timer on the control panel of the coffee machine (7) or the hot water dispenser (5): Hold down the button (25/19) and use the 00:--/--:00 buttons to set the hours and minutes for the automatic start time. Then let go of the buttons. The current time then appears on the display again.

Cleaning and Descaling

CAUTION!

Danger of burns! The hotplate, filter and filter holder are hot after use! Let these parts cool down before you touch them.
The device is not dishwasher-safe. Only the coffee jug, the filter holder, the collecting tray and the grid can be cleaned in the upper compartment of the dishwasher.

Never immerse the device, the mains cable or the plug in water.

Remove the mains plug from the plug socket before cleaning the device!
- Do not use any caustic or abrasive cleaning agents for cleaning. These can damage the surface.

  1. Make sure that the device is switched off and not connected to the mains power!
  2. Remove the filter holder from the filter compartment and dispose of the filter with the coffee grounds.
  3. Clean the filter holder and the jug with hot water and a little detergent or in the upper compartment of a dishwasher.
  4. You can remove the collecting tray and the grid of the hot water dispenser and also clean them with hot water and a little detergent or in the upper compartment of a dishwasher.
  5. If necessary, wipe down the outside of the device with a damp cloth and then wipe it with a dry cloth.

Descaling

If the water only runs very slowly through the device or the device is louder than usual during the brewing process, you should descale it. Use a standard commercial descaling agent for coffee machines to descale the device. Descale both the water tank of the coffee machine and the hot water tank as follows:

  1. Pour a mixture of water and descending agent into the water tank and switch on the device (without any coffee powder). Consult the instructions for using the descending agent with regard to the ratio of water to descending agent.
  2. Let the mixture run through the machine completely. Repeat this procedure if the water still runs through slowly.
  3. After descending, let water without coffee powder run through the device at least three times to flush the pipes etc.

Troubleshooting

If the device stops working properly, first check whether you are able to correct the problem yourself.

Do not attempt to repair a defective electrical device yourself!

The coffee jug over-flows.·The water tank is overfilled. Note the MAX marking in the water tank.
The device does not brew any coffee.·The fi liter paper bag does not have any coffee in it. ·The fi liter paper bag is not inserted correctly. ·Is the water tank empty? ·Has the device overheated? Wait for a few minutes between brews until the device has cooled down before you use it again.
The coffee does not taste very good.·The device needs to be cleaned or descaled (see the “Cleaning and Descaling” chapter). ·The coffee powder is too coarsely or too finely ground. ·The ratio between the amount of coffee powder and water is not correct. ·Poor quality of the coffee powder or water.
Error message FIL H2O on the display.·The hot water tank is empty and needs to be topped up.
Water emerges from the bottom of the device.·The seal plug of the hot water tank is not inserted correctly. Correct this.
Timer: The device does not start at the set time.·Is the timer activated? (See the "Timer Function" chapter) ·Did you note the difference between AM and PM when setting the time?

Unusual odour.When water first passes through the machine, an unusual odour may occur and this is caused by production residues.
