  • The device is not intended to be operated with an external timer or a separate telecontrol system.
  • This device may be used by children ages 8 and over as well as persons with impaired physical, sensory or mental capacities or those lacking experience and/or knowledge if they are super- vised or have been instructed in how to safely use the device and have understood the risks associated with operating the de- vice. Children may not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children.

  • Only use the device as described in these instructions. Any other use is deemed improper.

  • Keep children and animals away from the device and packaging material. There is a danger of injury and suffocation!
  • Scalding hazard! Hot steam is produced when in use. Therefore, do not open the water tank cover when in use.
  • Scalding hazard! When in use, keep your face, head and hands away from the water tank cover. Hot steam escapes from the water tank.
  • Burn hazard! Parts of the device become very hot during use. Avoid coming into contact with hot parts of the device.
  • Do not use the device if it is damaged.
  • The freshly brewed coffee is hot; be careful when handling hot liquids.
  • Do not add any water to the coffee maker once it has been tur- ned on. You could scald yourself – in the worst case – due to the sudden emission of steam. Risk of electric shock and fi re
  • Only connect the device to a properly installed socket with pro- tective earth contacts. The socket must also be easily accessib- le after connecting so that the mains connection can be quickly disconnected. The mains voltage must correspond to the techni- cal data of the device. Only use proper extension cords, whose technical data correspond to those of the device.
  • Never immerse the device, the mains cord and the plug in water or other liquids and make sure that there is no risk of them falling in water or getting wet.15 EN
  • If the device falls in water, immediately disconnect the power supply. Do not attempt to pull the device out of the water when it is connected to the mains supply!
  • Never touch the device, the mains cord and the mains plug with wet hands when these components are connected to the mains supply.
  • Turn the device off and pull the mains plug out of the socket – if you are not using the device, – if a fault occurs during operation, – before a storm, – before you fi ll the water tank with water or empty it, – before you clean and/or stow the device.
  • Always pull on the plug itself and never on the mains cord!
  • Only use the device in enclosed areas.
  • Do not use the device in rooms containing easily fl ammable dust or toxic and explosive vapours.
  • Do not operate the device in very moist environment or in the vicinity of fl ammable material.
  • For your own safety, always check the device for damages prior to using it. Only use the device if the device, mains cord and the plug do not exhibit any damages!
  • Never leave the device unattended when it is switched on or plugged in to the mains supply. Pull the mains plug in case of longer breaks.
  • Do not make any modifi cations to the device. Also do not repla- ce the mains cord yourself. Only have the device, cord and plug repaired by a qualifi ed workshop.   • Do not overfi ll the water tank to prevent the thermo cup from overfl owing later on! Always fi ll the water tank with an amount of water that the cup (thermo cup etc.) located under the coffee spout is capable of holding!
  • Do not use the coffee maker without water.
  • Never use the device without the thermo cup or if the respective cup is damaged.
  • Do not place the thermo cup on the hot plates (e.g. of other cof- fee makers), stoves, ovens etc. to prevent damage.
  • Only use accessories included in the product contents or exclu- sively those recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Do not place the device under cupboards or similar. It could be damage by rising steam!
  • Do not move the device during the brewing process.
  • Maintain adequate distance to heat sources such as stoves or ovens to prevent damage to the device. Do not place any open fl ames, e.g. burning candles, in the direct vicinity of the device, cord and plug.
  • Do not allow the device to fall and do not subject it to strong percussions.
  • Do not pull or carry the device by the cable.
  • Do not subject the device to extreme temperatures, severe chan- ges in temperature, moisture, wetness or direct sunlight.
  • Do not use any corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the device. They could damage the surface. Hygienic notes
  • The device and thermo cup may have residues from production. To avoid health risks, clean the device and thermo cup thorough- ly before fi rst use. When cleaning, please be absolutely sure to follow the cleaning notes in the chapter “Care and decalcifying”.
  • Only use fresh drinking water at room temperature for brewing coffee. Do not use any water from a bath tub, sink or other con- tainers.

Before fi rst use Before you can use the device, you must:

  • unpack the product contents,
  • clean the device. Unpacking the product contents ATTENTION!
  • Keep children and animals away from the packaging material. Danger of suffocation exists! Unpack all parts and make sure that the scope of delivery is complete (see chapter “Scope of delivery and device overview”) and check for any damages from transport. If you identify damages to the components, do not use them (!), instead contact our customer service centre.EN 18 Cleaning the device ATTENTION!
  • Before using the device for the fi rst time, be sure to observe the notes in the chapter “Use”.
  • Observe the instructions in the chapter “Care and decalcifying the device” before fi rst cleaning.
  • The device has overheat protection that prevents reactivation directly after the brewing process for reasons of safety. Therefore, wait a few minutes af- ter the brewing process for the device to cool down before starting another brewing process.
  • When cleaning, do not use any corrosive or abrasive cleaners. They could damage the surface!
  • Clean the permanent fi lter, the permanent fi lter holder and thermo cup with warm water and a small amount of detergent.
  • Thoroughly dry the permanent fi lter, the permanent fi lter holder and the ther- mo cup.
  • Place the permanent fi lter and permanent fi lter holder back in the device once it is completely dry.
  • Before fi rst use, we recommend fi lling the water tank two to three times, each time allowing the water to circulate (without coffee powder/coffee pad) in order to rinse out the lines etc. and remove any production residue.

1. Place the device on a dry, level and heat-resistant base.

2. IMPORTANT: Place a cup or similar under the coffee spout before

you connect the device to a socket as the device will begin with the brewing process right away if the On/Off button switch has been pushed before the device was connected and the device is connec- ted to a socket.

3. Fill the water tank with water.

4. Connect the device to a properly installed socket.

5. Press the Power switch.

  • Always let the coffee maker cool off for a few minutes between two brewing processes before using it again.
  • Do not add any water to the coffee maker once it has been turned on. You could scald yourself with the sudden emission of steam.
  • Never use the device with an empty water tank; the pump could be damaged if the device is operated without water.
  • Do not overfi ll the permanent fi lter to prevent the fi lter from overfl owing.
  • Do not overfi ll the water tank to prevent the thermo cup from overfl owing! Al- ways fi ll the water tank with an amount of water that the cup (thermo cup etc.) located under the coffee spout is capable of holding!

1. Place the device on a dry, level and heat-resistant base.

2. Connect the device to a properly installed socket.

3. Open the water tank cover and add some water to the water tank.

4. Place the permanent fi lter holder in the fi lter compartment.

5. Place the permanent fi lter in the permanent fi lter holder.

6. Add a coffee pad or loose coffee grounds to the permanent fi lter.

7. Close the water tank cover.

8. Place the thermo cup (without the cover!) under the coffee spout.

9. Push the Power switch to switch the coffee maker on. The Power switch will

illuminate and the brewing process will begin immediately.

10. The brewing process is complete when no more coffee fl ows into the coffee

cup. The device automatically deactivates after the brewing process. The Power button will go out once the device is switched off.

11. Remove the thermo cup and put the cover onto the thermo cup. The lid has

a drinking aperture. Simply push the lid cover forward or backward to open or close the drinking aperture.

12. After use, clean the device as described in the chapter “Care and decalcifying”.EN 20

Care and decalcifying ATTENTION!

  • The permanent fi lter and the permanent fi lter holder are hot after use! Let them cool off before removing them for cleaning.
  • Never submerge the device, the mains cord or the plug in water.
  • Prior to each cleaning, pull the plug out of the socket.
  • When cleaning, do not use any corrosive or abrasive cleaners. They could damage the surface.

1. Ensure that the device is switched off and disconnected from the power

2. Take the permanent fi lter and the permanent fi lter holder out of the fi lter

compartment and dispose of the used coffee pad/coffee grounds.

3. Clean the permanent fi lter, permanent fi lter holder and thermo cup with hot

water and, if necessary, a small amount of mild detergent.

4. Then thoroughly dry the permanent fi lter, permanent fi lter holder and thermo

maker once they are completely dry.

6. When needed, wipe off the coffee maker with a damp cloth and dry it with

a dry cloth. Decalcifying You should decalcify the device if water is only circulating very slowly or the device is making more noise than usual during the brewing process. Use a commercially-available decalcifi er for coffee makers for decalcifi cation.

1. Fill the water tank with a mixture of water and decalcifi er and turn the device

on. Consult the decalcifi er instruction manual to determine the correct ratio of water to decalcifi er.

2. Let the mixture completely circulate through the device. Repeat the process

if the water still circulates slowly.

3. After you have fi nished decalcifying the device, allow water to circulate

through the device at least three times (without coffee grounds/a coffee pad) in order to rinse the lines etc.21 EN Troubleshooting If the device is not working properly, please check whether you are able to rectify the problem yourself fi rst. Do not attempt to repair a defective device yourself! Problem Potential cause/solution The device is not working.

  • Is the mains plug properly connected with the socket?
  • Is the socket defective? Try another socket.
  • Check the fuse for your mains connection.
  • Is the device activated? Push the Power switch.
  • Has the permanent fi lter and the permanent fi lter hol- der been correctly inserted?
  • Is there suffi cient water in the water tank?
  • Are there coffee grounds/is there a coffee pad in the permanent fi lter? The thermo cup is overfl owing.
  • The water tank is overfi lled. Always fi ll the water tank with an amount of water that the cup (thermo cup etc.) located under the coffee spout is capable of holding! The device is not brewing coffee or the brewing process is very slow.
  • There is no water in the water tank.
  • No coffee has been added to the permanent fi lter.
  • The device must be decalcifi ed (see chapter “Care and decalcifi cation”).
