Risk of burns! During operation and afterwards, the temperature of the accessible surfaces will be very high.

- Donotopenthelidwhenthewaterisboiling. CAUTION: Make sure the mains cable cannot touch the hotplate of the appliance.

- Usetheapplianceonlyonalevelworksurface.
- Thisappliancecanbeusedbychildren aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the safe use of the appliance understand the hazards involved.

1. Remove the appliance from its packaging.
2. Remove all the packaging material such as
foils, filler material, cable holders and cardboard packaging.
3. Check the scope of delivery for completeness.
4. In the event that the packaging content should
be incomplete or if damages should be notice- able, do not operate the appliance. Return it to the dealer immediately. NOTE: There may still be dust or production residue on the device. We recommend that you clean the appliance as described under “Cleaning”. Explanation of the control panel 1 Reducing the warm-keeping temperature ( ) 2 Increasing the warm-keeping temperature ( ) 3 Temperature display 4 Pilotlamps(TEA/COFFEE) 5 Select the warm-keeping temperature preset by thefactoryforcoffeeortea(MOD) 6 Switching on/off the hotplate ( ) Instructions Location Put the base on a flat surface. Preparation Water kettle: Before using for the first time, boil fresh water at least three times in the appliance. Use only water without any addi- tives or ingredients. Tea/coffee maker: Clean the tea/coffee maker and filter as usual in soapy water. Rinse with clear water afterwards. Dry the tea/cof- fee maker and filter with a cloth. Mains Lead Completely unwind the required power cord from the bottom part of the base. Pay attention to the guide of the power cord. Electrical connection Check whether the electrical voltage that you intend to use is the same as that of the machine. Details are to be found on the label on the base. Connected Wattage The total power consumption of this device can be up to 2500 W. With this connected load a separate supply line protected by a 16 A household circuit breaker is recommended. CAUTION: Overload!
- Ifyouuseextensionleads,theseshouldhave a cable cross-section of at least 1.5 mm².
- Donotuseanymultiplesockets,asthisdevice is too powerful. Operating the water kettle NOTE: Always use fresh, cold water.
1. Press the button in the lid to open the kettle.
The opener will spring open. Remove the lid.
2. Then fill in the water. Please only fill up to the
maximum(MAX)mark.Youcanreadthelling level on the water level indicator of the kettle.
3. Place the lid onto the appliance. Press the but-
ton in the lid to close the lid. The button must click in audibly.
4. Putthewaterkettleontotheconnectingjointof
6. Set the switch on the water kettle to the “I” posi-
tion. The indicator lamp on the handle will light up. Pausing/terminating operation There are two options to interrupt the boiling pro- cess or to terminate it:
- Theappliancewillshutoffautomaticallyafter the boiling process. The indicator lamp will go out.
- Settheswitchtothe“0” position to pause or terminate the boiling process.
WARNING: Danger of scalding!
- Whenpouringthewaterout,keepthelid closed.
- Duringoperationthehousingbecomeshot.Do not touch it and allow the device to cool down before storing it away. CAUTION:
- Donotremovetheappliancefromthebase without shutting it off first.
- Emptyingthewatercontainer. Operating the tea/coffee maker
1. Use the water kettle to boil water as described in
chapter“Operatingthewaterkettle”.
2. Remove the filter. Measure the tea or coffee as
desired and add to the filter. NOTE:
3. Replace the filter in the tea/coffee maker. Make
sure the square notch in the attachment is aligned with the handle.
4. Take the water kettle from the base and carefully
pour the hot water into the tea/coffee maker. Onlylluptothemaximummark(--8--).Check the water level indication on the appliance for the current water level.
5. Tea: Leave the tea as indicated to steep and
thenenjoy. Coffee:Wait1-2minutesandthenenjoyyour coffee. Hotplate Youmaykeepthebrewedtea/coffeewarmby switching on the hotplate underneath the tea/coffee maker. NOTE: The buttons on the base station are touch but- tons. Slightly touch the buttons with a finger to select the function.
- Pressthe button to turn on the hotplate. The pilot lamp TEA will light up. The display shows the temperature preset by the factory of 80 °C.
- YoucanusetheMOD button to select the warm-keeping temperatures preset by the fac- tory for tea (80 °C) or for coffee (85 °C). The respective pilot lamp will light up.
- Youmayusethe and buttons to manually set the temperature for the hotplate. The control range is between 70 °C and 90 °C. CAUTION: Danger of scalding! The hotplate heats continuously, even if the tea/ coffee maker is not on the plate. Always switch off the hotplate if the tea/coffee maker is not on the plate or if the tea/coffee maker is empty. Automatic shut-off The hotplate will shut-off automatically after 60 minutes, if no entry was performed on the control panel within that time. The notification in the display will go out. This circuit serves your safety. Stop operation
- Makesurethatthehotplateisshut-off.
- Thendisconnectthemainscablefromthewall socket.49 Cleaning CAUTION:
- Alwaysturnthedeviceoffbeforecleaningitandremovethemains plug. Wait until the device has cooled down.
- Rinsethewatercontaineroutwithcleanwater. Then dry it off with a cloth.
- Cleanthehousingafterusewithaslightlydamp cloth.
- Cleantheperforatedsurfaceofthespoutopen- ing with a nylon brush from the inside. Tea/coffee maker / filter Clean the tea/coffee maker and filter as usual in soapy water. Rinse with clear water afterwards. Dry the tea/coffee maker and filter with a cloth. Winding mechanism for the power cord Youmaywindthepowercordonthebottomareaof the base station. Decalcification of the water kettle
- Thefrequencyofthedecalcifyingoperation depends on the hardness of the water and on how often the appliance is used.
- Ifthemachineswitchesoffbeforethewater boils, it probably needs to be decalcified.
- Pleasedonotusevinegarbutacommercially available decalcification agent on the basis of citricacid.Onlyusethequantitiesstatedinthe instructions. NOTE: After descaling the device boil fresh water in it several times (approximately 3-4 times) in order to remove any residues. Do not consume this water. Troubleshooting
- It is not possible to switch the machine on. Possible Cause: The appliance has no power supply. Remedy: - Check the socket with another appliance. - Plug in the mains plug correctly. - Check the main circuit breaker. Possible Cause: The appliance is faulty. Remedy: Contact our service center or a specialist. Possible Cause: After being used without or with too little water the machine has not cooled down sufficiently. Remedy: Allow the machine to cool down for 15 min.
- The kettle shuts off prior to boiling. Possible Cause: The heated base is coated with too much lime or the circuit of the plug is overloaded. Remedy: - Descale the machine as instructed. - Check the mains connection.50
- The kettle does not shut off. Possible Cause: The lid is not closed. Remedy: Close the lid.
