Baking

  • After the preheating the browning regulator can be adjusted as desired. Select a low setting for light crispy cone or a high setting for dark crispy cone. The first crispy cone does not exactly correspond to the browning level selected, for this reason, you should wait until the following crispy cone before changing the browning level.
  • Fill the batter in the middle of the lower baking tin. When baking crispy cones it is important to ascertain the exact batter quantity (approx. 1 level tablespoon). You should try to avoid the batter not running into the overflow rim which is about an inch. Should this happen to you by mistake, particularly during the first baking trials, you can simply break off the excess batter from the rolled, cold croissant.
  • For making your crispy cones a success it is important to close the appliance after having filled in the batter and to press the handles together. Due to the pressure the batter is fast and evenly spread and browned.
  • Take the crispy cones out of the appliance immediately after termination of the baking process. We recommend to use a wooden fork.
  • After having been taken out the crispy cones must be rolled by return when they are still hot. As soon as they are cooled down they cannot be rolled any more.
  • Advice: You can use a champagne glass for rolling the crispy cones.

1. Appliance with audible signal and indicator lamps (Type 281 and 285)

  • Shortly after having filled in the batter the green control lamp goes out. The red control lamp lights up.
  • After termination of the baking process the red control lamp goes out and the green one lights up again.
  • The beep signals: The crispy cone is ready.

2. Appliance with indicator lamps (Type 271)

  • Shortly after having filled in the batter the green control lamp goes out. The red control lamp lights up.
  • After termination of the baking process the red control lamp goes out and the green one lights up again.
    • The crispy cone is ready.

3. Appliance with control lamp (Type 261)

  • Shortly after having filled in the batter the red control lamp lights up.
  • After termination of the baking process the red control lamp goes out.
    • The crispy cone is ready.

4. Appliance without temperature regulator (Type 260)

  • Grease the baking surfaces before each baking process, as this appliance has not a non-stick coating. Use margarine or butter for greasing, no oil.
  • The control lamp indicates only the operating condition. Regarding this appliance you must ascertain the baking time for the requested browning level by means of a watch.

Cleaning

  • Please unplug the appliance before cleaning.
  • Use a paper towel to clean the appliance while still warm.
  • Afterwards, wipe the crispy cone maker with a damp cloth, but never under running water.
  • Tip: Place two absorbent paper towels between the baking surfaces and close the appliance.
  • Do not use caustic cleaning agents.

Tips

If a crispy cone does not turn out right, there may be many reasons for this. The following section provides some tips for successful crispy cones.

  • Use only premium quality flour.
  • Make sure to have all ingredients at the same temperature, and mix the batter until it is smooth. Use melted butter that is lukewarm.
  • For crispy crispy cones, do not use milk. Milk will make the crispy cones soft.
  • The batter should be thick, but should drip from the spoon. Fill the baking form completely with batter. A small serving spoon is ideal.
  • You can store crispy cones for several weeks without a problem provided you keep them in a tightly sealed container or pot.
  • Fillings for sweet crispy cones:
  • ice cream, whipped cream, butter cream, fruit
  • Fillings for zesty crispy cones: -salads (meat or vegetable salad), cheese, asparagus
