SETTING UP

1. What water may be used?

Using iron has been designed to operate using untreated tap water. However, it is necessary to operate the Self-Clean function regularly in order to eliminate hard water deposits from the steam chamber.

If your water is very hard (check with your local water authority) it is possible to mix tap water with store-bought distilled or demineralised water in the following proportions: 50% untreated tap water with 50% distilled or demineralised water.

WARNING ! Remove any labels from the soleplate before heating up the iron.

Types of water NOT to use : Heat concentrates the elements contained in water during evaporation.The types of water listed below may contain organic waste, mineral or chemical elements that can cause spitting, brown staining or premature wear of the appliance; water from clothes dryers, scented or softened water, water from refrigerators, batteries, air conditioners, rain water, boiled, filtered or bottled water.These types of water should NOT be used in your ROWENTA steam generator. Also only use distilled demineralised water as advised above.

IRONING BOARDS :

Due to the powerful steam output, a mesh type ironing board must be used to allow excess steam to escape and to avoid stea venting sideways.

USE

5 • Using your steam generator

Completely unwind the power cord from its storage space before connecting to an earth socket (fig.9).

The steam generator is ready when the iron temperature control light goes out and when the green « steam ready » light remains steady (fig.12).

To prime the steam circuit, either before using the iron for the first time, or if you have not used steam function for a few minutes, press the

steam control button several times in a row, holding the iron away from your clothes. This will enable any cold water to be removed from the steam circuit.

Your iron heats up quickly : start with fabrics to ironed at a low temperature and finish with those which need higher temperatures.

7 · Refilling the water tank

9 · Using damp steam

10. Using the burst of freshness function

The burst of freshness function allows you long-lasting freshness to your laundry.

The fragrance capsule allows you to try to 200 items of laundry at a rate of 1 or 2 seconds per item. 13 Vertical steam ironing

The crease-removal brush makes it possible to remove creases from certain materials that do no crease much (viscose, polyester, etc.); to refresh clothes that have already been worn; to add finishing touches (removal of marks from handling on the ironing board) and to eliminate certain unpleasant odours.

14 · Cleaning the generator

STORING

16 • Storing the generator

Press the illuminated on/off switch and unplug it to the generator.

Place the iron on the iron rest plate.

A PROBLEM WITH YOUR GENERATOR

Problems Causes Solutions
The generator does not com on.The thermostat light and the on/off switch are not illuminated.	The appliance is not switched on.	Check that your appliance is correctly plugged and press the illuminated on/off switch.
No burst of freshness. The	slide is not positioned proper	Position the slide downwardsFresh position.

	The capsule is empty.	Change the capsule (refill capsule in the product packaging - see § 11).
Droplets of water run through the "Precision Steam Jet" nozzle.	The soleplate is not hot enough.	Decrease the steam output while ironing at low temperature (steam output control dial on the control panel). Wait for the thermostat light to go out before activating the steam control button.
Water runs out of the holes the soleplate or through the diffusion nozzle along the front of the iron.	Water has condensed in the pipes because you are using steam for the first time or you have not used it for some time.	Press the steam control button away from your ironing board until the iron or the brush produces steam.
White streaks come through the holes in the soleplate.	Your boiler has a build-up of scale because it has not been rinsed out regularly.	Rinse out the boiler when the orange indicator light is on. Hold the Restart" button down for 2 to 3 seconds to turn off the indicator light.
You have already rinsed the boiler and the orange "boiling rinse" light is flashing.	You have not pressed for long enough on the "Restart" button	Turn off the indicator light.
Brown streaks come through the holes in the soleplate and stain the linen.	You are using chemical descalging agents or additives the water for ironing.	Never add this type of product in the water in the boiler (see § 4).
	Your linen is not rinsed sufficiently or you have ironed a new garment before washing it.	Ensure linen is rinsed thoroughly to remove any soap deposits or chemicals on new garments which have been sucked up by the iron.
The soleplate is dirty or bro and may stain the linen.	You are ironing at too high temperature.	See our recommendations regarding temperature control setting (see § 6).
	Your linen is not rinsed sufficiently and you are using starch.	Always spray starch on the reverse side of the fabric to be ironed.
There is no steam. The removable water tank is empty (red "water tank empty light on).	Fill the removable water tank and press the Restart button located on the control panel.
There is little steam. The steam output control dial is set at minimum.	Increase the steam output (control dial on the control panel).
You have filled the tank but there is no steam. The tank is not properly in place.	Check that the water tank is pushed firmly into place until there is a "click".
The red "removable water tank empty" light is on. You have not pressed the Restart button.	Press the Restart button on the control panel.
The green indicator light is flashing rapidly. The iron and the brush do function. The ironing / Crease Removal selector is in the intermediate position.	Put it to the desired position until you hear a Put it to the desired position until you hear a
