How to attach the carrying strap to the SLC 8x42 W B binoculars?

There are two options: with the protective eyepiece cap attached on one side (recommended) or on both sides. Pass the strap through the designated attachments and fasten it securely.

How to adjust the rotating eyecups for eyeglass wearers?

Turn the eyecups clockwise to the stop (position B). There are also intermediate positions (C and D) for optimal comfort.

How to adjust the interpupillary distance?

Spread or bring the two barrels closer together until you see a single circular image without disturbing shadows.

How to adjust the diopter correction if both eyes do not have the same visual acuity?

Start by focusing with the left eye using the focusing wheel. Pull the wheel, then adjust sharpness with the right eye by turning the wheel. Push the wheel back in.

Can I mount the binoculars on a tripod?

Yes, remove the cover of the tripod connector located under the binoculars with a coin, then screw on the SLC tripod adapter (sold separately).

How to clean the lenses properly?

Use the provided microfiber cloth. For large particles, first use a brush. Lightly moisten the surface with your breath and wipe gently. Clean the body with a soft, damp cloth.

Where to store the binoculars when not in use?

Store them in their case in a dry, well-ventilated place. If wet, dry them before storage. In humid environments, use a waterproof case with an absorbent product like silica gel.

What safety precautions should be observed?

Never look directly at the sun with the binoculars, as this can cause irreversible eye damage. Do not use them while moving to avoid falls.

What is the warranty period and what does it cover?

The international warranty is 10 years from the date of purchase. The first 5 years cover labor costs and defective materials. Repairs must be carried out by SWAROVSKI OPTIK.

What to do if the focusing wheel is stuck or hard to turn?

Check if the wheel is pushed in or pulled out (for diopter correction). If the problem persists, contact an authorized SWAROVSKI OPTIK after-sales service.

Operation

Adjustment of the screw-in-type eye cups

Basically, there are three (SLC 42) or four (SLC 56) different adjustment positions available with different distances between the eye and the lens. This allows you to adjust the eye cups individually to your personal preference.

Pos. A: Initial position without spectacles: For this, twist out the eyecups anticlockwise to the full extent.

Pos. B: Initial position with spectacles: Twist in the eyecups clockwise until they stop.

Pos. C and D: Alternative positions or interim adjustment stages for spectacle-wearers and non-spectacle-wearers.

Adjustment of interpupillary distance

To see a single round image, turn the two halves of the binoculars until no irritating shadows can be seen.

Adjustment of focusing

It is possible to bring every subject into focus from the shortest adjustment distance (see technical data sheet) to infinity by turning the focusing wheel.

In the infinity position the little nose of the focusing wheel is at the top.

Dieptric compensation

To achieve optimal image quality, the possibly varying visual acuity between the left and right eye must be corrected.

Use with equal acuity of both eyes:

1. Pull the focusing wheel outwards.
2. By turning the focusing wheel, set the dioptic scale to "0".
3. Push the focusing wheel back in.

Use with varying acuity of both eyes:

1. Look through the left ocular with your left eye and turn the focusing wheel to focus sharply on a selected object.
2. Pull the focusing wheel outwards.
3. Now look at the same object through the right ocular with your right eye and again adjust the focusing wheel to attain optimal clarity.
4. Press the focusing wheel back in again.

TIP: Please note your personal dioptric setting on the dioptric scale. With it you may adjust your individual dioptric setting anytime.

Tripod connector

Remove the covering for the tripod connector thread on the underside of the binoculars using a small coin. To mount the binoculars on a tripod, you will need the tripod adapter for SLC, which is sold separately as an accessory.

Maintenance and care

Lens-cleaning cloth

You can clean high sensitive lens surfaces with the enclosed special cloth made of micro-fibres. It

is suitable for objective lens, ocular lens and eyeglasses.

Please keep the cloth clean, as dirt can damage the lens surface. If the cloth gets dirty, it can be washed in luke-warm soapy water and air-dried.

Please use it exclusively for cleaning lens surfaces!

Cleaning

We have designed all elements and surfaces to require little care.

To ensure the long-lasting optical brilliance of your binocular, you should keep the glass surfaces free of dirt, oil and grease.

When cleaning the lenses, first remove larger particles with an optical lens brush. For the subsequent thorough cleaning we recommend breathing onto the lens surface to form a coat of condensation and then cleaning it with a soft, moist cloth.

The housing is best cleansed with a soft, moist cloth (don't use the lens-cleaning cloth).

In the event of hard-to-remove dirt (e.g. sand) the eye cups can be unscrewed and cleaned very easily.

Storage

You should keep your binocular in its bag in a well-ventilated, dry place.

If the instrument is wet, it must be dried prior to storage.

In tropical regions or regions with a high degree of humidity the best place to

store the instrument in is an air-tight receptacle along with a moisture-absorbing agent (e.g. silica gel).

In procuring this optical product from SWAROVSKI OPTIK you now own a top-quality instrument for which we grant a worldwide warranty of 10 years from the date of purchase in accordance with the following conditions:

If defects in material and/or workmanship appear, we will take over material costs for the entire warranty period. In a warranty case and as well for service and/or repair work please present the instrument to your authorized SWAROVSKI OPTIK dealer together with this warranty/service document or send it, delivery-free, directly to our address. Instruments sent without the warranty/service document enclosed will be repaired and the costs charged to the customer. The return shipment of the instrument, insured (means of transport at our discretion), is free of charge in the case of repairs covered under warranty, otherwise charged to the customer. For shipments to foreign countries any foreign customs duties or fiscal charges are charged to the recipient.
