3 Read the instructions, keep them safe, pass them on if you pass the appliance on. Remove all packaging

A IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS Follow basic safety precautions, including:

1 This appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or

mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have

been supervised/instructed and understand the hazards involved.

• Children must not use or play with the appliance.

• Keep the appliance and cable out of reach of children.

1 continuous processing

1 Sit the motor unit on a stable, level surface.

2 Fit the spindle to the top of the motor unit.

3 Sit the jug on the motor unit, with the handle to the right of the controls.

4 Turn the jug clockwise to bring the handle between the controls.

5 To process, fit the chopper over the pillar in the centre of the jug and turn it anti-clockwise to lock it in

• To remove the chopper, turn it clockwise, and lift it out of the jug.

6 To grate or slice:

a) Lower the disc over the top of the spindle.4

b) To slice, the slicing blade must be on top of the disc.

c) To grate, the slicing blade must be on the bottom of the disc.

7 Hold the lid over the jug, with the safety switch to the right of the handle.

8 Lower the lid on to the jug.

9 Turn the lid clockwise to bring the safety switch into the gap at the top of the handle.

10 The controls will only operate with the lid and jug in this position.

11 The jug will not move while the safety switch is engaged.

12 To release the jug, you must first turn the lid to bring the safety switch to the right of the handle.

1 Press the right hand button to run the motor continuously.

0 1 Press the left hand button to cancel continuous running, and to pulse the motor (run in bursts) – press

0 1 to start the motor, release it to stop.

13 Put the plug into the power socket.

14 You may use continuous running (1) or pulse (0 1).

15 Continuous running is easier, if you have to add ingredients one after another.

16 Pulse gives better control over what is happening inside the jug.

17 To add ingredients while the motor is running:

a) Lift the pusher out of the tube.

b) Add the ingredients via the tube.

c) Replace the pusher.

s USING THE SLICING/GRATING DISC

20 Press 1 to run the motor continuously.

21 Remove the pusher, and drop the ingredients down the tube.

22 Replace the pusher, and use it to push the ingredients gently down the tube.

23 Don’t use fingers or cutlery to push food down the tube – only the pusher.

24 The blade(s) on top of the disc will slice or grate the food into the jug.

25 Don’t let the jug get more than about half full – stop and empty it.

C CARE AND MAINTENANCE

26 Switch the appliance off (0 1) and unplug it.

27 Wipe the outside of the motor unit with a clean damp cloth.

28 Hand wash the removable parts.

` You may wash these parts in a dishwasher.

• If you use a dishwasher, the harsh environment inside the dishwasher will affect the surface finishes.

• The damage should be cosmetic only, and should not affect the operation of the appliance.

electronic goods, appliances marked with this symbol mustn’t be disposed of with unsorted municipal

waste, but recovered, reused, or recycled.

60 g Parmesan, grated

Process the coriander, garlic, pine nuts and half the oil till smooth. Transfer to a large bowl.

Stir in the Parmesan. Add oil to adjust the consistency: For a dip: thick. For a topping: medium. For pasta

ROASTED VEGETABLE PASTA

1 red pepper, seeded 1 courgette 1 onion

1 yellow pepper, seeded 1 T olive oil 225 g pasta

1 t dried mixed herbs 30 g Parmesan, grated 2 T crème fraiche

Fit the blade. Select low speed. Coarsely chop the peppers, courgette and onion. Add the mixed herbs and

olive oil. Process for 2 seconds. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 220°C for 15-20 minutes. Remove when the

vegetables start to brown Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a pan of salted water. Drain the pasta, return to the

pan and stir in the roasted vegetables, crème fraiche, Parmesan, salt & pepper.

4 cooking apples (cored & peeled) 2 T lemon juice

50 g light brown sugar 1 t ground cinnamon

Slice the apples. Mix the apples, lemon juice, brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.

75 g light brown sugar 75 g butter/margarine 140 g plain flour

Fit the blade. Put the flour, butter and sugar in the jug, and pulse, to form ‘crumbs’ – don’t over mix, or

you’ll get smooth pastry. Lay the apples in the bottom of an ovenproof dish. Cover the apples with the

crumble. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 220°C for 45 minutes. Serve hot or cold.
