How to install the GW21852 thermostat?

Install the thermostat at a height of 1.50 to 1.70 m from the floor, away from heat sources, air vents, doors or windows. Before installation, cut off the power supply. Connect the power wires to terminals 4 (Line) and 5 (Neutral), then the device to be controlled to terminals 1 (common) and 2 (normally open). For night setback, use terminals 6 and 7.

What is the recommended installation height?

The recommended height is 1.50 to 1.70 m from the floor, in a place protected from dust and without risk of water infiltration.

How to connect the power wires?

The power wires (230 V~) must be connected to terminals 4 (Line, phase) and 5 (Neutral). Use conductors with a maximum cross-section of 2.5 mm². For inductive loads, place an RC filter in parallel.

How to use the summer/winter function?

The thermostat has a mode selector: summer position for air conditioning, winter position for heating. The signaling LED indicates the load status (on = activated).

How does night setback work?

Night setback is activated via a remote input (terminals 6 and 7). When the external contact is closed, the set temperature is reduced by 4°C compared to the programmed value (Comfort mode = contact open, Reduction = contact closed). This function is not active in summer mode.

What to do in case of malfunction?

In case of anomaly or malfunction, contact an authorized technician or contact GEWISS technical support (SAT). Do not intervene yourself on internal components.

What is the adjustable temperature range?

The setting range is from +5°C to +30°C. Reading accuracy is ±1°C and operating differential is 0.7°C.

Is the thermostat compatible with a heat pump?

Yes, the thermostat can control a circulation pump, wall-mounted boiler, burner or zone solenoid valve. Check that the load does not exceed 8(2)A / 250 V~ for the relay contact.

How to clean the thermostat?

Clean the device with a soft dry cloth. Do not use abrasive products, solvents or liquid cleaners. Avoid water infiltration into the housing.

What are the indicator lights and their meaning?

The thermostat has a load status signaling LED: on = load activated (heating or air conditioning running); off = load deactivated. There is no other indicator.

Recommendations for positioning:

Unstall the thermostat at a height of approx. 1.50 ÷ 1.70 ~m from floor level, away from heat sources, draughts, doors and windows.

Oeating systems with thermostat controlling:

Warning: Prior to installing the product, ensure the mains electrical supply is disconnected.

With the mains power supply disconnected:

Connect the power supply cables to terminals ^4 (aine) and ^5 (eneutral).

Connect the wires of the device to be controlled to terminals: n^ 1 = common

With strong inductive loads (pumps and solenoid valves) it is recommended that an RC filter is connected in parallel to the load.

Remote selection of "Comfort" or "Reduced" temperature

Whenever it is desired to utilise the remote selection of "Comfort" or "Reduced" temperature, connect the external contact to terminals e^6 and e^7 of the thermostat.

"Comfort" temperature = external contact open

"Reduced" temperature = external contact closed

Selection of "Reduced" temperature results in a 4^ reduction with respect to the set temperature.

Example of connections to a boiler and timer to control night time reduction

Multiple installations

Un multiple installations (offices, schools, homes, etc.) where the night time reduction is controlled from a single centralised timer, in addition to the above it is necessary to

pay close attention to the following instructions:

1) Power supply 230V~

Terminal 4: connect to mains aine (230V)

Terminal 5: connect to mains eneutral (return)

N.B.: normally with civil mains power supplies "brown" is the recognised colour for phase and "blue" for neutral (line return).

2) Connections for night time reduction

All terminals 6: connect in parallel with output 2 of the timer.

All terminals 7: connect in parallel with output 1 of the timer.
