Frequently Asked Questions - FR140 ETON

How to recharge the radio battery?
You can recharge the built-in Ni-MH battery in three ways: via the USB port (cable not included, full charge in 8 hours), by the crank (about 90 seconds of rotation), or with the solar panel (automatic charging when exposed to sunlight).
How long does a full charge take?
With the USB port, it takes about 8 hours for a full charge. The crank and solar do not guarantee a full charge but allow a top-up.
How to use the crank to charge a phone?
Set the POWER/VOLUME button to OFF, connect the phone charging cable to the dedicated output, select the appropriate tip, then turn the dynamo about 2 times per second for 10 to 15 minutes to get about 1 minute of talk time.
How to tune short wave?
Select the SW (short wave) band using the band selector, fully extend the telescopic antenna, then turn the TUNING knob to find a station. Best reception is often at night on the 49 m, 41 m, 31 m, and 25 m bands.
Can I listen to the radio without a battery?
No, the radio operates only on the built-in rechargeable battery. You must recharge it before use.
How to turn on the light?
Use the dedicated button on the top of the unit to turn the LED lamp on or off.
What to do if the radio won't turn on?
First check that the battery is charged. Try recharging via USB or crank. If the problem persists, contact Eton after-sales service (phone or email).
How to clean the device?
Use a dry, soft cloth. Never use detergents, solvents, or chemicals that could damage the finish.
What is the warranty for the Eton FR140 radio?
The warranty is limited. To benefit, keep your proof of purchase and register your product at www.etoncorp.com or mail in the warranty card.
Where can I download the full manual?
The PDF manual is available for free on notice-facile.com or on the manufacturer's website www.etoncorp.com. You can also request a translation by email.
