- This mixer is equipped with the innovative FlexiMix system, which allows the beaters to move up and down when they touch the bowl. The beaters move independently of each other, which allows them to adjust to the shape of every bowl. As a result, it is much easier to reach every part of the bowl and to mix all ingredients thoroughly. The FlexiMix system makes the mixer easier to handle and gives you better control over the mixing process (Fig. 1).
Important
Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it for future reference.
Danger
- Do not immerse the motor unit in water nor rinse it under the tap.
Warning
- Check if the voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.
- Do not use the appliance if the mains cord, the plug or other parts are damaged.
- If the mains cord is damaged, you must have it replaced by Philips, a service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Caution
- Always insert the beaters, kneading hooks or pureeing accessory into the mixer before you connect it to the mains.
- Lower the beaters, kneading hooks or pureeing accessory into the ingredients before you switch on the appliance.
- Unplug the mixer before you remove the beaters, kneading hooks or pureeing accessory and before you clean it.
- Never use any accessories or parts from other manufacturers or that Philips does not specifically recommend. If you use such accessories or parts, your guarantee becomes invalid.
- Noise level: Lc=77 dB [A]
Electromagnetic fields (EMF)
This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF). If handled properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientific evidence available today.
Using the appliance
1 Make sure the FlexiMix button is set to 'OFF' when you insert the beaters, kneading hooks or pureeing accessory (HR1571 only) (Fig. 2).
2 Insert the beaters, kneading hooks or pureeing accessory (HR1571 only) into the mixer ('click'). You may need to turn them slightly while you do this (Fig. 3).
Note: Insert the kneading hook with the plastic collar into the larger opening in the bottom of the mixer.
- HR1571: You can use the pureeing accessory with a kitchen sieve (not supplied) to puree fruits and vegetables. Always insert the pureeing accessory into the larger opening (Fig. 4).
- When you use the beaters, you can set the FlexiMix button to 'ON' for better control over the mixing process (see chapter 'Introduction').
Note: Do not activate the FlexiMix function when you use the kneading hooks or the pureeing accessory.
3 Put the plug in the wall socket.
Put the ingredients in a bowl.
See the table below for the recommended quantities and processing times.

Lower the beaters, kneading hooks or pureeing accessory (HR1571 only) into the ingredients.
6 Set the speed control to the desired speed to switch on the appliance (Fig. 5).
- You can press the turbo button to mix more quickly or to increase the speed during heavy jobs, e.g. kneading yeast dough.
- If you want to stop mixing or pureeing for a while, set the speed control to '0' to switch off the mixer. Then put the mixer (with the beaters, kneading hooks or pureeing accessory still attached) on its heel until you continue.
7 When you have finished mixing or pureeing, set the speed control to '0' and unplug the appliance.
8 To release the beaters, kneading hooks or pureeing accessory, press the speed control forward to the eject position (Fig. 6).
Cleaning
Always unplug the appliance before you clean it.
Never immerse the motor unit in water or rinse it under the tap.
1 Clean the beaters, kneading hooks and pureeing accessory in warm water with some washing-up liquid or in the dishwasher.
2 Clean the motor unit with a moist cloth.
Storage
1 Wind the cord round the heel of the appliance. Attach the cord to the mixer housing with the suction cap (Fig. 7).
2 HR1571: Put the appliance, beaters, kneading hooks and pureeing accessory in the storage box (Fig. 8).

Environment
- Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment (Fig. 9).

Recipes
Fruit cake
Only use the strip beaters to prepare this recipe. If your mixer comes with wire beaters, you can order strip beaters from your Philips dealer. Ingredients:
- 150g dried dates, stoned and halved
- 420g prunes, halved
- 50g almonds
- 50g walnuts
- 50g raisins
- 50g sultanas
- 460g wholegrain rye flour
- 100g wheat flour
- 300g honey
- a pinch of salt
- 16g baking powder
- 500g buttermilk
1 Cut the dates, prunes, almonds and walnuts in small pieces.
2 Put the dates, prunes, almonds, walnuts, raisins, sultanas, 100g wheat flour and 260g wholegrain rye flour in a bowl.
Pour the buttermilk into the bowl and insert the strip beaters into the mixer.
4 Set the speed control to speed setting 3 to switch on the mixer and mix until the ingredients are well-mixed (approx. 10 seconds).
5 Add 100g wholegrain rye flour within 20 seconds and mix until the ingredients are well-mixed (approx. 10 seconds).
6 Add the rest of the wholegrain rye flour within 20 seconds and press the turbo button to mix the ingredients for 20 seconds.

7 Set the speed control to '0' and let the mixer cool down to room temperature before you use it again.
8 Bake the fruitcake in a 30cm-long baking tin at 170^ for 50-60 minutes.
