USER MANUAL ELECTROLISS BABYLISS

cycle begins. It takes approximately three weeks for hair to grow from the base of the follicle to the surface of the skin and thus be visible. In other words, when hair begins to grow, it will not appear until three weeks later. Generally, if we remove hair one day and hair appears the following week, we think that it is the same hair regrowing, while it in fact comes from different follicles.

  • From the moment when the hair appears on the surface of the skin, the growth period continues for about 13 weeks more. For the treatment to be effective, the hair has to be treated during this anagen phase, when the dermal papillae are still active. It is the sine qua non to truly stop the hair growth process.
  • Hair grows back in irregular cycles. In a single area, some hair is in its growth phase (anagen) and other in their rest phase (telegen). This is why the treatment must be carried out once or twice a week. The first results will be seen after a few weeks of treatment and will increase with prolonged and regular use of the product. ENGLISH ELECTROLISS ELECTROLYSIS HAIR REMOVAL For nearly 30 years, BaByliss has put itself at the forefront of technology to respond to the increasingly demanding desires of women for hair removal systems. Thanks to the electrolysis hair removal technique, BaByliss ELECTROLISS will from now on let you remove excess hair permanently and painlessly. This technique directs a barely perceptible electrical current to the base of the hair follicle. A chemical reaction neutralizes the dermal papilla that feeds the hair and regrowth is slowed dramatically. This technique therefore not only deals with the visible hair, it progressively destroys the root for long-term hair removal. Some information on body hair (see figure 1 and 2):
  • Hair grows from a sac called a follicle. The density of the follicles varies depending on the area it is in. Thus, the density ranges from 60 follicles per square centimetre on the legs to 500 follicles per centimetre on the upper lip.
  • Hair grows in cycles. During the growth phase (or anagen phase), hair is fed by the dermal papilla. Hair then enters a transitional phase (or catagen phase), and finally enters a resting phase (or telegen phase). During the last phase, hair does not grow because it has separated from the dermal papilla. Hair falls out, the follicle reconnects with the dermal papilla and a new

variator (the little wheel) is set at minimum.

5. Turn on your BaByliss ELECTROLISS

by pressing the button for at least two seconds.

6. Press the button once again for

TIPS FOR USE

PREPARING YOUR SKIN

  • Wash your skin thoroughly with an alcohol-free cleaning gel to remove all traces of lotion, oil, make-up and any impurities on the skin. The treatment should always be carried out on clean skin (cf. contraindications). For best results from the patches, make sure that the patches are clean to ensure continuous contact between them and your skin.
  • The treatment can be carried out before or after removing hair. It is not necessary to see hair to use electrolysis (the growth phase begins when the hair is still 4 mm

going until you feel a slight tingling sensation. Adjust the strength of the current according to your sensitivity and the ELECTROLISS will adjust the duration of the treatment automatically. The hourglass icon displayed on the screen will tell you how long this is. IMPORTANT: This treatment should not be painful. In most cases, you will feel almost nothing, or only a light tingling sensation. If this is not the case, even at a low intensity, move the contact patch slightly away from the treatment patches. In any case, don’t hesitate to use a low intensity for the first treatment. If you can tolerate it, slowly increase the intensity over the following uses.

each cycle while the contact patch flashes on the screen. Remember to remove all patches, including the contact patch to treat another section of the area.

(see figure 4) QUESTIONS/ANSWERS

  • My appliance doesn’t turn on? Make sure the appliance is fully charged before use.
  • The screen goes out? Make sure the appliance is fully charged before use.
  • My appliance goes out while starting the programme? Avoid pressing the start button too long.
  • My appliance doesn’t start the planned session? Check that the patches are properly connected. Check that the patches are adhering properly to your skin. Check that the patches are moist enough.
  • The patches don’t adhere to my skin properly anymore? Moisten the patches with a few drops of water applied with the tips of your fingers. Let the patch absorb the moisture and the gel regain its adherence then put the patch back on the right side of its protective film, or use the patch immediately. The precision stylet can be fitted with 4 different heads; choose the head for the area you wish to treat: the wide head for the upper lip, the narrower head for isolated hair. AFTER AN ELECTROLYSIS SESSION

After each electrolysis session, preferably after 12 hours, the hair can be removed using a traditional hair-removal method: tweezers, wax or electric hair removal. The hair should come out easily and without resistance. After hair removal, you can apply an after hair-removal moisturising lotion to soothe your skin. psoriasis or eczema.

  • Do not use perfume or deodorant on the treated area for 24 hours. Seek medical advice before using this appliance without medical advice if:
  • you have an electronic implant (pacemaker, etc.) or metal implant, including an IUD;
  • you suffer from heart problems;
  • you are pregnant; or
  • you suffer from cancer, epilepsy, diabetes.
  • Do not use on areas where there is little sensitivity. IMPORTANT: A slight redness on the skin in the area where the patches were placed and/or the stylet was used is normal and will disappear quickly. Stop treatment and consult a doctor if the redness persists. While treating the upper lip, you may become aware of a metallic taste. This is normal and is a result of the electrical current. The after-taste disappears when the current is stopped.

LENGTH OF THE TREATMENT

The treatment should be carried out once or twice a week. You will notice the first results after a few weeks of the treatment and these will increase with prolonged and regular use of the product. The length of the treatment varies depending on the area being treated and the nature of the hair. Some thicker hair may require longer treatment. The hair should become increasingly thinner, come out more easily and finally disappear. The session duration varies according to the selected intensity : from 1 to 4 minutes with patches, and from 20 to 60 seconds with precision stylet. The intensity only has an impact on the session duration, but not on the efficiency.

MAINTENANCE OF THE APPLIANCE

The appliance does not require special maintenance. To clean, wipe with a damp cloth. Never allow water to get inside, do not leave the appliance in the sun or in extreme temperatures. RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONTRA-INDICATIONS
