- Plug the cord into the unit and connect the transformer. Before using the trimmer for the first time, allow it to charge for 16 hours. Make sure the trimmer's switch is in the OFF position.
- The LCD screen will light up and a battery icon with a bar will indicate the battery charge level.
- A full charge provides a minimum of 30 minutes' use of the trimmer.
- Allow 90 minutes for recharging.
USE ON THE MAINS
To use the trimmer on the mains, plug the cord directly into the unit.
Plug the trimmer, in the OFF position, into the mains and switch ON (If the battery is very weak, wait about 1 minute).
IMPORTANT! Use only the transformer provided with the trimmer Ref. E852XE Voltage = 3.6V - 1000mA (Fig.1)
HANDLING THE COMB GUIDE
The comb guide is very practical and guarantees an even cutting length.
NOTE: Always put the comb guide on BEFORE turning the trimmer on, and turn the trimmer off before removing it.
To remove the cutting guide, first adjust the length to 15mm on the digital screen then, unit turned off, pull the guide.(Fig.2)
To attach the cutting guide, first adjust the length to 0.4mm on the digital screen and press the guide onto the unit until you hear a 'click' (Fig. 3)
STARTING AND USING Switch the trimmer on
Press the ON/OFF button. The cutting guide automatically moves to the initial position of 0.4mm . The cutting length can be selected using the arrow up and arrow down buttons. If you press one of these two buttons, the trimmer will switch off. Once you have selected the length of cut, press the ON/OFF button again to confirm the length and restart the unit.
The exclusive motor-management system generates more power when cutting 'difficult' areas. The self-regulating motor thereby maintains a steady speed.
Switch the trimmer off Switch off
Press and hold the ON/OFF button for at least 2 seconds. The unit will turn off completely and the cutting guide will return to its initial position.
Standby
If you press and hold the ON/OFF for less than 2 seconds, only the motor switches off, the digital display remains on for 20 seconds, after the 20 seconds you still have 5 minutes to change the height.
Automatic switch off
After the 5 minutes, the trimmer switches itself off and the cutting guide remains in the last position used.
CUTTING TECHNIQUES
NOTE! Make sure you hold the comb head flat against the skin. That is, the tips of the teeth and the little corners protruding from the comb should always be in contact with the skin. If not, the precision of the cut may change.

For the beard or moustache just the way you want it...
Decide on the type of beard or moustache that best suits your face taking into account the size of your face and natural growth and thickness of your beard and/or moustache. After deciding on the form of the beard and/or moustache, it is easy to maintain its appearance by using the trimmer as soon as you feel it is
necessary. For better results, we recommend cutting the beard when it is dry. This helps make the cut precise and comfortable.
To determine the shape of the beard
After having combed your beard in the direction of its natural growth, decide on the desired shape by starting under the jaw. Come back up each side towards the ears. Then continue on your cheeks towards the hair. Make sure you always trim or style your beard against the hair growth.
To create a 3-day-beard effect...
The special 3-day-beard cutting guide is a guide especially designed to ensure fine cuts (short) and in particular 3-day beards.
To thin the moustache, sideburns, goatee, jaw line...
Place the end of the blade without comb guide in the line of the cut desired.
NOTE! Only use in the opening of the nostrils or ears to avoid any risk of injury.
For an irresistibly soft skin...
Thanks to its pivoting and floating support and its flexible grid, the shaving head adapts perfectly to the contours of your face and gives even the most difficult parts a close shave. Result: a neat and precise cut in less time for an impeccable look.
MAINTENANCE
Remove the cutting guide after each use.
Cleaning the clipper blades regularly will maintain their optimal performance.
Removable blades
To make cleaning easier, the BaByliss trimmer blades can be removed. Make sure the trimmer is turned off and then remove the comb guide. Hold the trimmer with the blades facing up and remove them by pressing on the tips of the blades (Fig. 7).
Carefully brush the blades using the cleaning brush to remove hair.
Self-lubricating blades
The blades of your trimmer have a reservoir pad for releasing the necessary amount of oil for proper operation of your trimmers, time after time. Nevertheless, it is recommended that it be refilled occasionally when you notice performance is not as high.
Remove the blades as described above.
Squeeze a few drops of BaByliss oil onto the pad (Fig. 8).
Then replace the blades on the trimmer.
The BaByliss oil is specially formulated for the trimmer, it does not evaporate nor does it slow the blades.
It is possible to obtain replacement blades when these are worn out or damaged.
