Safety information

To avoid potentially fatal injury through electric shock:

  • Ensure that the base with the external electrical connections NEVER comes into contact with water! Should they unintentionally become wet, first allow them to dry out completely before taking the appliance back into use.
  • Ensure that the power cable never becomes wet or damp during operation. Lay the cable so that it cannot be trapped or otherwise damaged.
  • Arrange for defective power plugs and/or cables to be replaced at once by qualified technicians or our Customer Service Department.
  • Always remove the plug from the power socket after use.

  • ALWAYS remove the plug from the mains power socket before pouring water from the appliance.

  • ALWAYS set the voltage selector on the appliance to the rating of the local power supply. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you operate the appliance on a 230 V mains supply when the voltage selector switch is set at 120 V (or vice-versa). It would destroy the appliance and the guarantee would be void. Make enquiries about the rating of the local electrical mains supply from the energy supplier or the hotel personnel. First when this has been done insert the plug into a power socket and then switch the appliance on.
  • Connect the appliance only to correctly installed power sockets with a current rating of 120V 60Hz / 230V 50Hz

To avoid burns and other injuries:

Always heat water with the lid closed, otherwise the automatic cut-out may not function. Boiling water could then spray out over the rim.
- Hot steam clouds may be released. The boiler also becomes very hot during operation. Wear oven mitts.
- Ensure that the appliance is standing securely and vertically before switching it on. Boiling water can cause an unstable kettle to fall over.
- This appliance is not intended for use by individuals (including children) with restricted physical, physiological or intellectual abilities or deficiencies in experience and/or knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or receive from this person instruction in how the appliance is to be used.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance..

Boiling water

Danger

NEVER take the water boiler into use if the electrical connections are wet resp. moist - there is a risk of you receiving an electric schock!

Injury hazard

For safety reasons, the lid 1 should not be opened while the water is boiling or is very hot. There is a risk of receiving severe scalds.

1 Notice

Always use freshly drawn water. Do not consume any water that has already stood in the water boiler for longer than one hour. Do not reboil water that has cooled down. Always pour old water away. Microbes could have formed in it!

  • Check to ensure that the setting of the voltage selector switch ⑤ corresponds to that of the local power supply. If necessary, adjust the voltage selector switch ⑤ to the correct setting.
  • Open the lid 1.
  • Hold the water boiler upright while filling it. Only in this way can you correctly read the interior markings in the water boiler.

Fill the water boiler to no further than the MAX marking, to ensure that no boiling water splashes out.

  • First close the appliance lid 1.
  • Now insert the plug into the mains power socket.

1 Notice

It can happen that the control lamp ⑥ glows immediately, as soon as you connect the appliance with the mains power source. This means that the On switch ② was already pressed down when the connection was made. In this case, the boiling process starts immediately. Therefore, always check that the control lamp ⑥ is glowing, this shows that it is heating up.

  • Press the ON switch ②.
  • The control lamp ⑥ indicates that the appliance is now heating the water up.
  • The appliance switches itself off and the control lamp ⑥ goes out as soon as the water is on the boil.

1 Notice

You cannot stop the boiling process manually. Should you wish to stop the boiling process you must disconnect the plug from the power socket.

Warning

ALWAYS remove the plug from the mains power socket before pouring water from the appliance. Otherwise, water could possibly land on the electrical contacts and cause an electric shock!
