Thank you for purchasing a weighing scales with body fat and body water percentage monitoring. This appliance works on the principal of measuring the body's electronic impedance, which is referred to using the term bioelectric, i.e. "bioelectronic impedance analysis" (BIA), a factor relating to the percentage of body fat and body water, taking other physical factors into consideration (age, sex and weight).
Before using the scales for the first time, read this manual carefully to guarantee its correct functioning and extend the life of the appliance. Keep the instructions for later reference.
2. IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- The readings for your body fat and water percentage are guidance measurements only. This appliance is not recommended for therapeutic use. Please consult your doctor for advice on any medication or diet you should follow in order to reach a normal weight.
- The use of these scales is not recommended for persons using pacemakers or other therapeutic implants with electronic components. It could be dangerous and could reduce the performance of the implant.
- To avoid any interference, do not use this appliance near devices with a strong electromagnetic field. Always keep well away from any such devices when you are using the scales, or simply switch off any devices emitting strong electromagnetic fields before using it.

6. ADJUSTMENT
Insert a 9V battery in the battery compartment (8) at the rear of the scales, ensuring the polarity is as shown. Use ALKALINE batteries only.
If the scales are to be out of use for some time, remove the batteries.
Place the scales on a hard, flat surface (do not place them on a carpet). To guarantee maximum accuracy and repeatability of the readings, always weigh yourself on the scales in the same place.
7. USING THE BODY FAT MONITORING SCALES
PROGRAMMING
As we have already mentioned, the scales have a programme for measuring the body fat and body water percentage. Personal data can be entered for each digit (from 1 to 8), i.e. for up to 8 different people. To programme the scales, proceed as follows:
NOTE: first read the instructions, as the display will switch off after 10 seconds if it is not changed.

I. To switch on the scales, press. When the number beside the icon begins to flash, you can select the desired memory setting by moving up and down with the and buttons. Then press to confirm the data.

II. The next parameter to be entered is sex (male or female). When the symbol starts to flash, use the and buttons to choose male or female, then press to confirm.

III. Another number will then begin to flash, indicating the person's height. Use the and buttons to select the height and press to confirm.

IV. The last data item is age. Enter your age using the and buttons and press to confirm.
To make sure all the parameters have been correctly programmed, press the button consecutively when you finish programming.
BODY FAT MONITORING
When you wish to weigh yourself:
body fat level, showing how your level compares to the statistical standard. It will show that you are either below the standard weight, at the correct weight or overweight, and can be taken as a weight status reference.
NOTE: Whenever you press and switch the scales off and back on again, you can follow steps I-V again to check or programme all your personal and previous measurement reports before taking new measurements.
8. NORMAL FUNCTIONING AS A WEIGHING SCALES
To use the scales as a normal weighing scales, proceed as follows:
- Switch on the unit by gently placing your foot on the front part of the scales. The display will light up and go to normal weighing mode:

- Step carefully onto the scales (do not jump onto them). The digits on the display will count up and stabilise at your weight. After a few seconds the display will automatically switch off.
NOTE: For correct weighing, weigh yourself without clothes and without shoes. Always weigh yourself as far as possible in the same circumstances (in the morning before breakfast for example) and at the same time of day.
9. BATTERY LOW INDICATOR
When the battery needs replacing, the following message will appear on the display:

When this happens, follow the adjustment instructions and replace the battery.

Remember that batteries are not household waste. Spent batteries must be disposed of in the special containers provided.
10. REFERENCE INFORMATION
Body fat evaluation is based on the standard method of measurement. It is calculated using a correlated formula developed on the basis of extensive scientific studies. The water content in the muscle without fat affects the result of the measurement. Your particular habits and lifestyle affect the body water level balance, as do other factors such as the following:
a.- The reading may be lower if you have just taken a bath.
b.- The readings may be higher after eating and drinking.
c.- For women, the reading may change during your monthly period.
d.- Body water may be lost due to illness or physical activity causing effusive sweating and dehydration.
e.- The following tables are for calculating physical status according to body fat and water percentages as shown on the scales:

11. ERROR AND OTHER MESSAGES ON THE DISPLAY
- The display may occasionally show the error message "Err". If this happens, either switch off the scales for a moment or remove the battery for complete reprogramming. Then switch on the scales again for them to resume functioning.
- When you switch on the scales, all the segments will light up at once. This shows they are all functioning correctly.
- ----": the voltage indicator sensor zero point has been programmed too far below the lowest rating. The scales cannot function correctly.
- "Err": there is an overload or the voltage indicator sensor zero point has been programmed to far above the highest rating.
- "Err-H": the body fat level index calculated is too far above the upper limit.
- "Err-l": the body fat level index calculated is too far below the lower limit.
- If the screen stops working or cannot be switched off for a long period of time, remove the battery for around 3 seconds then insert it again to eliminate the temporary failure.
12. MAINTENANCE, CLEANING AND CORRECT USE
- The scales may be slippery when wet.
Make sure they are dry before using them.

Clean the scales with a dry cloth and prevent any water from entering them. Do not use strong cleaning chemicals such as alcohol or benzene.
- Keep the scales in a cool dry place, rather than in a damp or hot place.
- Keep the scales in horizontal position rather than vertical, as the batteries may run down.
- Do not attempt to open the scales to repair them, as this will nullify the guarantee.
- Do not drop the scales on the floor or jump onto them when you use them. Avoid any knocks and do not shake the scales, as they are a precision appliance. Their structure is delicate and sensitive to any external impact.
- If the scales do not work when you switch them on, make sure a battery has been inserted and that it has not run down. Replace the battery and consult your supplier if necessary.
13. READ THE FOLLOWING NOTES CAREFULLY FOR A CORRECT UNDERSTANDING OF THE APPLICATION AND THEORY OF THE APPLIANCE
- The body fat and body water content measured using body fat monitoring scales is for guidance purposes only. Your physical appearance will not necessarily coincide with the readings for body fat and water, and people of the same age, sex and physical build will not always give the same reading. Consult your doctor to determine the best hydration and body fat conditions you should be aiming for.
- Body fat control scales are not suitable for use by people with the following characteristics:
Children under 10 and adults over 80.
People with symptoms of fever, oedema or osteoporosis.
People undergoing dialysis treatment.
- People who are taking cardiovascular medication.
- Pregnant women.
Athletes performing over 10 hours of intense exercise per day.
People with a heart rate of under 60 beats per minute.
14. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CORRECT DISPOSAL OF THE PRODUCT IN ACCORDANCE WITH EC DIRECTIVE2002/96/EC.

13/14
At the end of its working life, the product must not be disposed of as urban waste. It must be taken to a special local authority differentiated waste collection centre or to a
dealer providing this service. Disposing of a household appliance separately avoids possible negative consequences for the environment and health deriving from inappropriate disposal and enables the constituent materials to be recovered to obtain significant savings in energy and resources. As a reminder of the need to dispose of household appliances separately, the product is marked with a crossed-out wheeled dustbin.
