1 For Your Safety
1.1 Follow the operating instructions
Read the operating instructions completely before using the appliance. Keep the instructions in a safe place for future reference. If you give the appliance to somebody else, also give them the operating instructions.
Non-observance of these operating instructions can cause severe injuries or damage to the appliance.
Important notes for your safety are highlighted in the operating instructions as shown below. Be sure to follow these instructions to prevent accidents and damage to the appliance:

1.2 Hazards for certain persons
There is an increased risk of injury to children or persons with limited capabilities:
- This appliance must not be used by children. The appliance and its power cable must be kept out of reach of children.
- This appliance must only be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or a lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or if they have been instructed in the safe use of the appliance and have understood the risks resulting from the use of the appliance.
- Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Because of the high level of noise created by the appliance, children must leave the room in which the appliance is used to prevent hearing damage.

- When the appliance is not in use, unplug the power cable from the outlet socket and keep the appliance out of reach of children.
- Always disconnect the appliance if left unsupervised and before putting it together, taking it apart or cleaning it.
- Keep the packaging material out of reach of children, suffocation hazard.
1.3 Improper use
The appliance is designed exclusively to blend or chop foodstuffs. Any other use is deemed improper use and can cause severe personal injuries and damage to the appliance.
- The appliance is designed for household use or use in a similar environment, e.g. in offices or similar areas. It is not suitable for commercial use, e.g. in the catering industry.
- The appliance is not designed to be operated with a timer or separate remote control system.
1.4 Power
Since the appliance is operated with electrical current, there is a risk of receiving an electric shock. Be sure to follow the precautions mentioned below:
- Only connect the appliance to a properly installed, earthed safety outlet socket.
- Only operate the appliance if the voltage specified on the rating plate matches the voltage of your outlet socket.
- Make sure that the power cable is not kinked or pinched and that the power cable and the appliance do not come in contact with heat sources (e.g. hot plates, gas flames).
- When you pull the power cable out of the outlet, always pull directly on the plug. Never carry the appliance by the power cable.
- Never immerse the motor unit in water or other liquids, never clean it under running water, and never put it in the dishwasher.
- Never touch the power plug with wet hands.
- Never operate the appliance outdoors.
- Even when the appliance is switched off, the inside of the appliance is live as long as the power cable is plugged into the outlet socket. Always unplug the appliance from the outlet socket after use.
- If a dangerous situation or defect occurs, unplug the appliance from the outlet socket immediately. For this reason, make sure that the outlet socket, to which the appliance is connected, is easily accessible at all times.
- Disconnect the power cable out from the outlet socket before you clean or carry out maintenance work on the appliance.
- Never remove screws from the appliance to open it and never carry out any technical modifications.
1.5 Blades and rotating parts
There is a considerable risk of injury through sharp blades and rotating parts.
- Handle the blade with extreme caution.
- Do not wear long necklaces, bracelets, earrings, clothing with flared arms or scarves and tie long hair back when using the appliance. Exercise extreme caution when reaching into the blending jug.
- Wait until all parts have stopped rotating and unplug the power cable from the outlet socket before opening the lid of the blending jug. Always handle the blending jug with great care, particularly when emptying or cleaning it.
1.6 Poor hygiene
Bacteria can form in the appliance due to poor hygiene.
Clean the appliance and all accessories thoroughly before using them for the first time and immediately after use, so that leftover food cannot dry out.
1.7 Risks for the appliance
Damage can be caused by handling the appliance incorrectly.
- Place the appliance on a dry, level, non-slip surface which will not react with the rubber feet.
- Never place the appliance on a hot surface or near strong sources of heat.
- Do not allow the power cable to dangle.
- Only use the cleaning agents and utensils described in these operating instructions to clean the appliance.
- Never use the appliance continuously for more than 10 minutes at any one time as there is a risk of the appliance becoming overloaded or overheating. After using the appliance for 10 minutes, allow it to cool down for 10 minutes. The appliance is then ready to be used again.
1.8 In case of a defective appliance
A defective appliance can cause material damage and injuries:
- Always check the appliance for damage before use. If damage is found, contact the manufacturer, their customer service department or a similarly qualified person immediately. Never operate a defective appliance or defective accessories.
- If the appliance's power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or their customer service department to prevent hazards.
- The appliance must not be used if the blending jug is damaged or cracked.
- The appliance does not contain any parts that you can repair yourself. Repair work must only be carried out through SEVERIN customer service department (see “Service Centres” on page 146).

4 Operating controls and programs
4.1 Operating controls
The following keys are provided for operating the appliance:

4.2 Programs
The appliance has 6 programs that each combine pre-selected speeds and processes. The following programs are available:

5 Cleaning and care
Clean the appliance before using it for the first time. Also clean the appliance immediately after use.

WARNING!
Risk of injury and damage to the appliance!
– Never immerse the motor unit in water.

WARNING!
Danger to health through incorrect cleaning.
- Only use cleaning agents that are suitable for use with foodstuffs to clean the individual parts.

CAUTION!
Do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaning agents or utensils that will cause surfaces to become scratched. The parts of the blender are NOT dishwasher proof.
- Place the motor unit on a firm, level surface, on which it stands safely.
- Attach the blending jug to the motor unit.
- Pour some warm water with a little washing up liquid into the blending jug.
- Close the blending jug by fitting the lid.
- Plug the power cable into the outlet socket.
The bottom LED blinks red.
- Press the "ON/OFF key". The blender starts to run.
- Press the "plus key" as often as necessary to run the appliance at medium speed. The blade in the blending jug will be cleaned by doing this.
- To switch the blender OFF, press the "ON/OFF key".
- When the blender has come to a standstill, unplug the power cable from the outlet socket.
- Remove the blending jug from the motor unit.
- Clean the motor unit with a damp cloth.
- Clean the tamper with a customary washing up liquid under clear, running water.
- Clean the blending jug with a customary washing up liquid under clear, running water.
- Clean the lid with a customary washing up liquid under clear, running water.
- Clean the measuring beaker with a customary washing up liquid under clear, running water.
6 Operation

CAUTION!
Children should always leave the room before operating the appliance.
If you find the noise made by the appliance irritating, protect your ears.
- PREPARATION: Place the motor unit on a firm, level surface, on which it stands safely.
- Attach the blending jug to the motor unit.
- Prepare the ingredients that you wish to use.
- Place the ingredients into the blending jug. Make sure that the blending jug is not overfilled. The maximum filling quantity is 1.7 l.
- Insert the measuring beaker into the lid and turn the measuring beaker clockwise until it latches in place.
- Close the blending jug by fitting the lid.
- Plug the mains plug into the outlet.
The bottom LED blinks red.
- PROGRAM SELECTION: Select the desired program by pressing the "Program key" as often as is necessary for the blue LED to light up next to the program that you wish to use or press the "Pulse key" to start the pulse function.
- If necessary, hold the appliance steady by placing your hand on the lid.
- Press the "ON/OFF key".
The blender runs the program selected. Upon completion of the program, the blender stops automatically. Continue as described from step 15.
- SPEED CONTROL:
Press the "ON/OFF key".
The blender starts to run.
- Press the "plus key" as often as necessary to run the appliance at the desired speed.
- If you wish to reduce the speed, press the "minus key" as often as necessary to reduce the speed to the desired level.
- SWITCHING OFF:
To switch the blender OFF, press the "ON/OFF key".
- When the blender has come to a standstill, unplug the power cable from the outlet socket.
- Remove the blending jug from the motor unit.
- Clean the appliance immediately after use, see "5 Cleaning and care" on page 22.
7 Troubleshooting
7.1 Troubleshooting by yourself

WARNING!
Risk of injury! The appliance does not contain any parts that you can repair yourself.
– Never attempt to operate a defective appliance. - Never attempt to repair the appliance by yourself. If your appliance is defective, contact our customer service department (see "Service Centres" on page 146).
Before contacting our customer service, check with the aid of the table below whether you can remedy the problem by yourself.

7.2 Accessories and spare parts
You can order spare parts or accessories conveniently via the Internet on our home page http://www.severin.com by using the "Service / Spare Parts Shop" menu.
7.3 Disposing of the appliance

Appliances that are marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from household waste. These appliances contain valuable raw materials that can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and the health of your fellow men.
Your local authorities or dealer can provide information regarding proper disposal.
8 Warranty
The legal warranty rights with respect to the seller and any seller warranties are unaffected by the following warranty conditions.
In case of warranty claim, contact your dealer directly. In addition, SEVERIN grants a manufacturer's warranty of two years from the date of purchase. During this period, we will eliminate all defects caused by material or production faults that compromise the function. Other claims are excluded.
Excepted from the warranty are: Damage that is due to non-observance of the instruction manual, improper handling or normal wear; also easily-breakable parts such as glass, plastic or light bulbs. If the appliance is tampered with by persons not authorised by SEVERIN, this will render the warranty null and void.
