Frequently Asked Questions - SG C11 CKG HOTPOINT

What to do if the soleplate remains cold?
Check that the plug is properly inserted and the thermostat is not on the MIN position. If the problem persists, contact after-sales service.
Why is there no steam?
Make sure the water tank contains enough water and the iron has reached the required temperature (temperature light off). If steam is weak, increase the interval between steam trigger presses or check that the steam slider is not on Min.
How to clean the soleplate?
Unplug the appliance and let it cool down. Use a damp soft cloth for stains. For deposits in steam holes, use a damp cotton swab. Avoid abrasive products.
What to do if water leaks from the soleplate?
This may happen if the temperature is too low or if you activate steam too frequently. Increase the temperature or space out the presses. If the problem persists, check the type of water used.
How to descale the steam station?
After complete cooling (3h), unplug the appliance. Remove the tank, turn the station over, unscrew the boiler cap, empty residual water, fill with 500 ml water, shake, empty, repeat twice. Screw the cap back on and rinse before use.
What type of water to use?
Use tap water. If the water is very hard (>22°f), mix with demineralized water according to the proportions indicated in the manual. Never add perfume, vinegar or other chemicals.
How to use the vertical steam function?
Place the iron in vertical position (soleplate down). Make sure the tank contains more than a quarter of water and the steam ready light is on. Press the steam trigger to de-wrinkle hanging clothes or curtains. Never direct steam toward a person.
The auto shut-off function does not work?
Check that the appliance is on. Auto shut-off activates after 10 minutes of inactivity. If left unattended, an audible signal sounds. To reactivate, press a steam button. Wait for the steam ready light to turn back on.
How to set the temperature for different fabrics?
Use the temperature selector. For synthetics: MIN position; silk and wool: ● position; cotton and linen: MAX or ●● position. Start with fabrics requiring low temperature. Wait about 2 minutes when changing settings.

such as buttons, studs and hinges - they may scratch the plate.

  1. Regularly rinse the water reservoir (8) under clean water. After cleaning, always empty the water reservoir.

Scale removal (K)

Your steam generator is equipped with the descaling system (18). If the anti-scale cartridge is not in position, the device will not produce steam. Please replace the anti-scale cartridge every three months of use (average use = 2.5 hours per week).

To replace the cartridge, extract it from its slot inside the water tank and replace it with a new one.

The descaling filter does not purify water from impurities other than limescale. We recommend checking that mains water is not contaminated by these impurities, which could affect the performance of your steam generator.

If you wish to clean the boiler of your steam generator, please wait at least 3 hours until the steam generator has completely cooled down.

When you start the steam generator again, before using the steam function on the garments, press the steam button for at least one minute to eject any residues or particles that could stain the fabrics.

HINTS

If your steam generator is equipped with the Optimal Soleplate Temperature technology, you need not adjust the temperature and/or steam. You can iron all types of fabrics that can be ironed in any order.

  • Sort the garments out according to the fabric types. This will reduce the need to adjust the temperature according to the different fabrics.
  • Start with the garments that require a low ironing temperature and continue with the garments requiring higher ironing temperatures. If you are not sure about the composition of the fabric, try ironing a hidden part such as a seam, hem or internal section. Start with low temperature and gradually increase it until you find the ideal ironing setting.
  • When you reduce the steam generator's temperature to iron delicate garments, wait approximately 2 minutes to let the steam generator reach the new settings. Pure wool (100% wool) garments can be steam-ironed as long as the temperature is set to wool. We recommend using a cotton cloth to prevent any shiny marks on the garment.
  • Never iron areas with obvious perspiration marks because the heat will make the stains fast and permanent.

DISPOSAL OF OLD ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

HOTPOINT SG C11 CKG - DISPOSAL OF OLD ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES - 1

The European Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), requires that old household electrical appliances must not be disposed of in the normal unsorted municipal waste stream.

Old appliances must be collected separately in order to optimise the recovery and recycling of the materials they contain and reduce the impact on human health and the environment.

The crossed out "wheeled bin" symbol on the product reminds you of your obligation, that when you dispose of the appliance it must be separately collected. Consumers should contact their local authority or retailer for information concerning the correct disposal of their old appliance.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Sort the items according to the fabric type. This allows you to change the need for temperature regulation for different fabrics. - Start with items that require a lower ironing temperature and continue with items that can be ironed at a higher temperature. - If you are unsure about the fabric composition, try ironing a small inconspicuous part, for example, a hem, edge, or inner part. Start with a low temperature and gradually increase it to find the optimal setting for ironing. When you change the temperature of the generator for delicate items, wait approximately 2 minutes for the temperature to stabilize. - Items made of pure cotton (100% cotton) can be ironed with steam, provided the temperature is set for cotton. It is recommended to use a base ironing board to prevent stains on the items. Never iron items with stains: the heat will set them permanently.
