A correctly humidified environment helps to maintain the natural protective functions of the nasal mucous and the respiratory tracts, ensuring the best possible conditions for the wellbeing of your child. The Humi Vap hot humidifier works by nebulising water that is heated by a special element. The Humi Vap Hot Humidifier is ideal for use in rooms frequented by children: as the water is boiled, the steam it diffuses is totally bacteria free. The original closure system used for the top lid unit allows it to be removed so you can easily clean both the tank and the lid cover; the easy to read "unlocked" and "locked" pictograms found near the fastener screws means you can check whether the tank is correctly fitted at a glance. Furthermore, it is so nice and compact that it will even fit on a bedside table. The water can also be constantly supplied to the tank.

For your child's well-being, before switching on the humidifier, carefully check indoor temperature and humidity levels with a Chicco hygrometer and compare them with the values shown in the following chart.

Warning

1. This appliance is only intended for the use it has been specifically designed for: it is a "humidifier for domestic use". Any other use is to be considered inappropriate and therefore dangerous. Artsana declines all responsibility for any damage caused by the inappropriate, incorrect or unreasonable use of the appliance.
2. This appliance is not a toy. Keep the appliance and power cable out of reach of children.
3. After removing any packaging materials, ensure that the humidifier is not damaged. In case of doubt, do not use and contact a qualified technician or your retailer.
4. Keep all packaging materials out of reach of children.
5. Before connecting the equipment, ensure that the rated voltage corresponds to the mains' voltage supply. The voltage rating plate is located underneath the equipment.
6. Connect the appliance to a mains socket that is easily accessible only by an adult.
7. Do not place the appliance on delicate surfaces, or surfaces that may be sensitive to heat, water and humidity.
8. Only place the appliance on flat, rigid, stable surfaces out of reach of children.
9. Do not place the appliance on soft and/or uneven surfaces.
10. Do not obstruct the steam nozzle with cloths, objects or your hands, as the temperature of the steam released could cause scorching or burns.

1. Always be careful when using this appliance as it releases boiling hot steam.
2. Do not direct the steam nozzle towards people, furniture, curtains, walls, electrical appliances or objects that may be sensitive to heat, water and/or humidity.
3. Fill the water tank with cold drinking or distilled water only.
4. Never add any aromatic substances or oils to the water contained in the tank.
5. Carefully pour the essences or balsamic or aromatic oils into the essence container, making sure the liquid never comes into contact with the external surfaces of the tank or drips inside the device through the dispenser nozzle or the inlet used to refill the tank (5)
6. Pay attention never to pour essence or balsamic/aromatic oils into the essence container when the appliance is switched ON as the temperature of the dispensed steam could cause severe scorching or burns. Please be very careful.
7. ATTENTION: when the resistance comes into contact with water it reaches a high temperature and should only be touched when cold.
8. When clearing or drying the equipment always wait until the resistance has cooled down before any operation with direct contact: the temperature of the resistance may cause serious burns, always be very cautious.
9. Always disconnect the power cable plug from the mains socket when the appliance is not in use or left unattended.
10. The power cable must be replaced only with another power cable of the same type by expert technicians or at any authorised Artsana S.p.A. dealer.
11. Before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance operations, always disconnect the plug from the mains socket.
12. Do not move, lift or incline the humidifier or carry out cleaning or maintenance operations when the appliance is operating or is connected to the mains socket or is still hot.
13. Do not use accessories, spare parts, or any component not supplied or approved by

the manufacturer.

2. When using any electrical appliance, it is necessary to follow some basic safety regulations:

3. Never touch the appliance with wet or damp hands.

4. Do not pull the power cable or the appliance to unplug the appliance from the mains.
5. Do not leave the appliance exposed to atmospheric agents (rain, sun, etc.).
6. Keep the appliance and power cable away from heat sources.
7. Never submerge the appliance in water or any other liquid, or place it under running water.
8. Do not touch the equipment if it has accidentally fallen in water. Disconnect the power supply, lowering the lever of your central fuse box and disconnect the plug from the mains socket before touching the appliance. Do not use the appliance and contact a qualified technician or one of Artsana S.p.A.'s authorised service centres.
9. The appliance does not contain parts, which can be repaired or reused by the purchaser. It can only be opened with special tools. If the equipment is faulty and/or not working correctly, switch it off immediately and disconnect the plug from the mains socket. Do not attempt to open the product. Contact your retailer or one of Artsana S.p.A.'s authorised service centres.
10. When the appliance is in use, always take great care and never remove the fastener screws on the lid cover.
11. The appliance must be cleaned and dried thoroughly at the end of every cycle.
12. If the appliance is not used for a long period, it must be stored as indicated in the Cleaning and Maintenance paragraph.
13. When the appliance is no longer used, it is recommended to unplug it from the mains socket and remove the power cable.
14. Do not dispose of this product as a normal urban refuse. Dispose of it at a differentiated collection point for

electrical/electronic appliances (WEEE), as requested by the laws in force and EC Regulations.

1. This appliance is not intended for use by people (children included) with reduced physical or mental capacities, or with insufficient experience or knowledge, unless they are under the supervision of a person responsible for their safety, or have been instructed on how to use the appliance.
2. Children should be kept under adult supervision to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
3. To avoid the risk of fire, do not place the power cable under carpets or close to radiators, or gas and/or electrical heaters.
4. Do not place the humidifier in rooms with very low temperatures (< 5^)

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE Preliminary Operations

• Check that the power cable plug is disconnected from the mains.
• Check that the lid cover unit (6) is fitted properly and locked in place by the fastener screws (7) on the tank (2), fill the tank with cold drinking or distilled water up the Max level (3) (Diag.3) via the continuous water supply inlet (5), being very careful not to exceed the MAX level (3) indicated on the tank.
• Attention: The water will take a few minutes to completely fill the heating tank.
• Carefully pour the oil or aromatic liquid into the essence container (4) (Diag. D), making sure the liquid never comes into contact with the external surfaces of the tank or drips inside the appliance through the dispenser nozzle or the inlet used to refill the tank (5)
• Place the appliance in the selected area, following the indications specified in the Warnings paragraph.
• Connect the power cable plug to a mains socket that is easy for adults to access.

How to Operate the Appliance

• Press the button to the (I) position; the indicator LED (I) will light up (Diag. E).
• Adjust the direction of the steam flow by moving the nozzle (4) (Diag. F), making sure it is not directed towards people, furniture, curtains, walls, electrical appliances or objects that may be sensitive to heat, water and/or humidity.
• Attention: the steam flow will start to be released a few minutes after the appliance has been switched on.
  Attention: never approach your face or hands to the steam nozzle (4) or obstruct it with any objects. The temperature of the steam could cause series burns.
• Attention: when the water in the tank runs out, the appliance will stop heating after a few minutes, the on/off button (1) will remain in the (l) position and the indicator LED will switch off. Switch off the appliance by pressing the switch (1) to the (0) position (Diag. E), disconnect the plug from the power socket and refill the water tank as indicated in the Preliminary Operations paragraph.
• Attention: the appliance is fitted with an automatic device that switches off the heating element used to produce the steam when there is no water left in the tank. In order to start the steam dispenser again, you must first switch the device off and then back on again (1)
• Attention: if the indicator LED on the on/off switch (1) goes off, even when the on/off switch (1) is in the I position and there is water in the tank, this means there is a malfunction. Should this happen, do not use the appliance and contact one of Artsana S.p.A.'s authorised service centres.

• Attention: never remove the lid cover unit (6) before switching off the appliance and disconnecting the power cable plug from the mains socket.
  To switch off the appliance, press the button (1) to the (0) position (Diag. E).

• Attention: when the appliance has been switched off, the water contained in the heating tank could continue to boil for some minutes.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Warning!!

Before carrying out the following cleaning/maintenance operations, always switch off the appliance. First disconnect the power cable plug from the mains socket and then allow the appliance to cool down completely.

Cleaning the tank and lid cover unit

During normal operation, the salts contained in the water could cause the formation of scale residues in the steam duct and heating tank. The formation of scale residues could take place more or less quickly, depending on the type of water, its hardness and frequency of use of the appliance. The harder the water, the quicker the formation of scale residues. Apart from making the appliance noisier, scale residues reduce the performance of the humidifier and could prevent it from operating correctly. It is therefore recommended to descale the appliance, at least once a week, as indicated below:

1. Use a coin or a flat headed screwdriver to loosen the lid cover fastener screws (7) making sure the triangular symbol coincides with the UNLOCKED symbol; then use the handle grooves (8) to lift the lid cover unit off the tank.
2. Fill the water tank with cold drinking water. Attention: never fill the tank above the indicated MAX level.
3. Rinse it out a couple of times very thoroughly, making sure the water does not leak inside the appliance through the air vents on the bottom.
4. Clean the water supply duct on the bottom of the tank (Diag. G detail) removing all scale residue with a flat tool, if necessary.
5. After removing any scale residue, mix 1 litre of water and 1 litre of white wine vinegar together and pour it into the water tank; fit the lid cover and fasten in place with the screws (7) so that the triangular symbol coincides with the LOCKED symbol and leave the appliance to rest for 4 hours. Then shake the

appliance for a few minutes, repeat the operations indicated in point 1, empty the tank and use a cloth to remove all scale residue; rinse out the tank and the lid cover/steam chamber several times. Leave it to drain then carefully dry the tank and lid cover unit using a soft cloth; now replace the lid cover and fasten in place using the screws (7) so that the triangular symbol coincides with the LOCKED symbol

1. Clean and dry the water tank externally by gently wiping a dry cloth over the whole surface.
2. In the case where the appliance will not be used for a certain length of time, after the cleaning procedure, carefully dry all parts immediately and then store it away.

How to Clean the Appliance Outer Surface

Clean the appliance outer surface with a soft damp cloth. Do not use abrasive products, alcohol, solvents or similar products, which may cause permanent damage to the appliance outer surface.

Warning!!

1. Do not submerge the appliance in water or other liquids. Do not place under running water or allow water to enter near the electrical parts. Should this happen, do not use the appliance and contact your retailer or one of Artsana S.p.A.'s authorised service centres.
2. Do not wet the electric power cable.
3. Do not scratch the heating element with any tool. Do not clean with chemical or abrasive products.
4. Any repairs or the replacement of the fuses must only be carried out by a service centre authorised by Artsana S.p.A..

TROUBLE SHOOTING

Problem	Solution
The humidifier does not operate	Check that the power cable is connected to the mains socket. Check that the ON/OFF switch is in the ON (I) position. Check there is sufficient water in the tank. Send the appliance to be checked by an Artsana service centre by contacting the Artsana Customer Care service.
After over 15 minutes of operations, air comes out without steam	Remove the scale residues from the heating chamber, as indicated in the CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE paragraph.
The appliance is very noisy	Carry out the ordinary cleaning operations as indicated in the CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE paragraph; then air the water tank in a cool place for 24 hours without the stopper.
