Information for these operating instructions
These operating instructions are a component of the Conical Curling Iron SCC 35 A1 (henceforth designated as the appliance) and they provide you with important information in regard to the intended use, the safety and the connection as well as to the operation of the appliance.
These operating instructions must be constantly kept available close to the appliance. They are to be read and applied by everyone assigned to operate, and eliminate faults in, the appliance.
Retain these operating instructions and pass them on, with the appliance, to any future owners.

Intended use
This curling iron is intended exclusively for the styling of human hair. This appliance is intended for domestic use only. Pay heed to the information in this operating manual, especially the safety instructions. This appliance is not intended for commercial applications.
Any other or any additional use is considered as improper use. Claims of any kind for damage resulting from unintended use will not be accepted. The operator alone bears liability.
Safety instructions

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
- Connect the appliance only to correctly installed mains power sockets supplying a mains voltage of 120 - 240V 50 / 60Hz
The power cable on this appliance cannot be replaced. In the event of it being damaged the whole appliance must be disposed of.
In the event of operating malfunctions and before cleaning the appliance, remove the plug from the mains power socket.
To disconnect the power cable, always pull the plug from the mains power socket, do not pull on the power cable itself. - Do not kink or crimp the power cable and place it in such a way as to prevent anyone from stepping on or tripping over it.
- Ensure that the power cable cannot become wet or damp while the appliance is in operation. Place it such that it cannot be crushed or damaged.
- To avoid risks, should the appliance be damaged discontinue the use of it immediately.
Do not use the appliance outdoors. - Do not wrap the power cable around the appliance when it is still hot and protect the cable from being damaged.
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
Under no circumstances may the appliance be submersed in fluids or fluids be allowed to permeate the housing. Do not expose the appliance to humidity and do not use it outdoors. Should liquids enter the housing, unplug the appliance from the power socket immediately and arrange for it to be repaired by a qualified technician.
To ensure that you can disconnect the appliance quickly in an emergency, do not use extension cables.
- NEVER grasp the appliance, power cable or power plug with wet hands.
- Disconnect the appliance from mains power immediately after use. The appliance is completely free of electrical power ONLY when unplugged.

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK

Never use the appliance near water, particularly not near sinks, baths or other containers. The proximity of moisture presents a danger, even when the appliance is switched off. After use, always remove the plug from the power socket. As additional protection, the installation of a faulty-current protection unit with an activation power rating of not more than 30mA is recommended for the power circuit in the bathroom. Consult your electrician for advice.

WARNING! RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY!
- NEVER leave a switched on appliance unsupervised.
- Do not place the appliance close to sources of heat and protect the power cable against damage.
- Do not operate the appliance if it has fallen or is in any way damaged. Arrange for the appliance to be checked and/or repaired by qualified technicians.
This appliance becomes hot during use. When it is in a hot state, hold it only by the handle or by the insulated tip.
WARNING! RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY!
- Do not attempt to open the housing or to repair it yourself. Should you do so, appliance safety can no longer be assured and the warranty will become void. Permit only authorised technicians to repair a defective appliance if repairs should be necessary.
This appliance may be used by children of the age of 8 years or more and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised or, in regard to the safe use of the appliance, have been instructed in its use and have understood the potential risks. Children should not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance tasks should not be carried out by children, unless they are being supervised.
WARNING - PROPERTY DAMAGE!
- Place the hot curling iron only on heat resistant surfaces. Otherwise, the surface being used could be damaged!
- NEVER use it to style hair pieces or wigs made of synthetic material. These can be damaged by the heat!

NOTICE
- Check the contents to ensure everything is present and for signs of visible damage.
If the delivery is not complete, or is damaged due to defective packaging or through transportation, contact the Service Hotline (see chapter Service).
Unpacking
Remove all parts of the appliance and the operating instructions from the carton.
Remove all packaging material.
WARNING
- Packaging material should not be used by children as a play thing. There is a risk of suffocation.
Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the appliance from transport damage. The packaging materials are selected from the point of view of their environmental friendliness and disposal technology and are therefore recyclable.

The recirculation of packaging into the material circuit saves on raw material and reduces the amount of waste generated. Dispos of packaging material that is no longer needed as per the regionally established regulations.
NOTICE
If possible preserve the appliance's original packaging during the warranty period so that, in the event of a warranty claim, you can package the appliance ideally for its return.

Before styling
The hair should be clean, dry and free of styling products. Excepted are the special products that support a curling of the hair.
Comb the hair thoroughly before styling so that there are no knots in it.
Divide the hair into manageable portions and secure the upper portions to the head with grips so that they do not get in the way.
Operation
1) Protect your fingers with the finger protector by pulling it over your thumb and forefinger.
2) Insert the plug into a mains power socket.
3) Press the On/Off button 5. The red control lamp 3 glows.
4) Set the appropriate temperature level using the temperature level regulator ④. The set temperature level can be read off from the indicator ②.

As soon as the appliance has reached the set temperature level, the red control lamp 3 extinguishes and the green control lamp ③ glows.
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
Exercise care in handling the heated curling iron. Do not touch the scalp or other parts of the body with the hot curling iron! This could cause burns!
5) Clamp the tip of the hair strand firmly onto the appliance with the aid of the hair clip ①.
6) Then wind the strand of hair around the curling iron. Thereby, ensure that the strand of hair is wound evenly within the markings for the optimum heating zone ⑦ on the curling iron.
7) Hold it in this position for about 5 seconds and then release the hair clip ①. Carefully pull the curling iron out of the curl.
8) Let the curl cool down before you style it further.
WARNING - PROPERTY DAMAGE!
- Should you want to briefly put the appliance down during the styling, place it on the small base foot 6, so that the hot part of the curling iron does not touch any surfaces. Nonetheless, place the hot curling iron only on heat resistant surfaces. Otherwise, the surface being used could be damaged!
9) Style the remaining hair in the same way. Fix the hair with hairspray.
When you no longer need the appliance, press the On/Off button 5, disconnect the power cable from the mains power socket and place the appliance on its stand foot 6 to cool down.
When it is hand warm you can slide the appliance into the storage bag ⑥.
Automatic switch-off
This appliance is fitted with an automatic switch-off. After 30 minutes, and without pressing the on/off button ⑤, the appliance switches itself off automatically.
5 minutes before the appliance switches itself off the red control lamp ③ flashes. Should you wish to continue using the appliance, press the on/off button ⑤. The timer is now reset and the 30 minutes start from the beginning again.
NOTICE
The automatic switch off is only for safety!! It is not intended to replace the standard switching off when you are finished with styling!
Cleaning

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
Always disconnect the plug from the mains power socket before cleaning. There is the danger of receiving an electric shock!

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
Let the appliance cool sufficiently before cleaning it. Risk of burns!
WARNING - PROPERTY DAMAGE!
- Do not use any aggressive, abrasive or chemical cleaning agents! These could damage the surfaces.
Clean the appliance only with a lightly moistened cloth. - Allow the appliance to dry completely before re-use or before storing it away.
If necessary, wipe the storage bag with a moist cloth.
Clean the finger protector in lukewarm water with a little mild detergent. Let it dry completely before re-use.
Storage
Store the cooled and cleaned appliance in the storage bag ⑧. Store it in a clean and dry location.
Disposal of the appliance

Do not dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste. This product is subject to the provisions of European Directive 2002/96/EC (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal centre or at your community waste facility. Pay heed to the currently applicable regulations. In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre.

Warranty
The warranty for this appliance is for 3 years from the date of purchase. The appliance has been manufactured with care and meticulously examined before delivery.
Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the case of a warranty claim, please make contact by telephone with our service department. Only in this way can a post-free despatch for your goods be assured.
NOTICE
The warranty covers only claims for material and manufacturing defects, not for transport damages, parts subject to wear and tear or for damage to fragile components, e.g. switches or bulbs.
This product is for domestic use only and is not intended for commercial applications. The warranty is void in the case of abusive and improper handling, use of force and internal tampering not carried out by our authorized service branch.
Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by this warranty.
The warranty period is not extended by repairs made under the warranty. This applies also to replaced and repaired parts.
Damages and defects extant at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking, resp. no later than two days after the date of purchase.
Repairs made after the lapse of the warranty period are subject to charge.
