USER MANUAL ZPI6012UE Zelmer

Congratulations on your choice of our appliance, and welcome among the users of Zelmer products.

In order to achieve best possible results we recommend using exclusively original Zelmer accessories. They have been specially designed for this product.

Important safety instructions

Read the entire instruction manual before operating the appliance.

The appliance may only be used indoors.

The induction cooker is designated to prepare and heat food in appropriate utensils suitable for induction cooking.

NOTE: The diameter of the induction cooking utensil must be at least equal to the diameter of the heating zone used.

Never use the induction hob to heat rooms or to heat liquids and materials that are harmful or volatile etc.

Never use the induction hob to heat sealed canned food. The can may explode. Remove at least the lid from the can.

Never cook food products in aluminum foil.

Never place food products wrapped in aluminum foil or in aluminum trays on the induction hob as heated aluminum will melt and may damage the appliance.

Do not place empty containers and dishes on the appliance.

Never place metal items on the induction hob such as knives, forks, spoons, lids as they may become hot. There is a considerable number of small items which may be treated by the appliance as an induction cooking utensil. In such a case the hob will start heating and shall transfer heat to the items on the hob.

CAUTION: If the surface of the hob is damaged disconnect the appliance from the mains supply to avoid the hazard of an electric shock.

Do not operate the appliance if it has a damaged cord or if the housing is visibly damaged.

If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, a service agent or a qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

The appliance can only be repaired by qualified service personnel. Improper servicing may cause a serious hazard to the user.

the event of a voltage drop all settings and indications shall be reset. Please take all necessary precautions as the heating zone heated before the voltage drop shall not be controlled by the indicator.

- Some elements become hot when the hob is operating.

Never use the induction hob with empty utensils.

Do not touch hot surfaces of the appliance. Scalding risk! Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning.

After operation, switch off the heating zone with the adjuster and do not rely on the indications of the utensil detector.

Do not use abrasive detergents such as emulsions, cream cleaners, polishes, etc. to clean the hob. They may remove the graphic information symbols such as: marks, warning signs etc.

The induction hob may be a hazard for persons with a pacemaker or other active implants.

Please contact your doctor or the manufacturer of the active implant as the magnetic fi eld generated during the operation of the hob may interfere with the implant.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

The ceramic hob is sensitive to strokes e.g. with a seasoning container, salt cellar etc.

Sugar may react with the hob leaving non-removable stains. Always remove all stains containing sugar from the hob.

Do not place aluminum or plastic items on the hot hob.

Make sure that the above instructions have been understood.

Hob assembly and installation to the mains supply

Hob assembly (Fig. A)

NOTE: The hob may be installed only by a qualified installer having a relevant authorization.

The dimensions and the manner of assembling the hob are indicated in the figure.

① Make an opening in the cabinet table top according to the given dimensions.

② Install the hob in the opening and fix the hob to the cabinet table top using brackets and screws.

Never install the hob above an oven which is not equipped with a ventilation device or near heat generating appliances.

Do not install the hob near appliances or devices which generate magnetic fi eld (e.g. radio, TV, etc.).

Make sure the cabinet table top is made of heat resistant material to avoid its deformation caused by the heat radiation from the hob.

After installation, make sure the induction hob is well ventilated and the air inlet and outlet are not blocked.

Installation to the mains supply (Fig. B)

NOTE: The hob may be connected to the mains supply only by a qualified installer having a relevant authorization.

Before connecting the appliance to the mains supply read the information on the rating label and on the appliance connection scheme.

The mains supply must be equipped with an appropriate fuse.
Additionally, the mains supply must be equipped with an appropriate circuit breaker which disconnects the appliance from the mains supply in emergency situations.
Do not shorten the cord.

NOTE: The installer is obliged to fi ll in the warranty card which constitutes a basis for the consideration of the warranty.

Technical parameters

The technical parameters are indicated on the rating label.

The induction hob is a I class appliance equipped with a cord having a grounding wire.

The appliance meets the requirements of the applicable norms.

The appliance is in conformity with the requirements of the directives:

Low voltage appliance (LVD) - 2006/95/EC. -

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) - 2004/108/EC.

The appliance was marked by a CE sign on the rating label.

Product description

The appliance is intended for household use only. The warranty conditions change if the appliance is used in gastronomic business.

Zelmer induction hob is designated to cook and heat food products. It operates based on the principle of the electromagnetic induction. Magnetic fi led which creates rotary currents is generated between the hob surface and the induction utensil. The flow of such currents causes to utensil as well as the food products inside the utensil to heat.

The induction hob may only be used with pans and cooking pots designated for induction cooking.

The generation of the magnetic fi led depends on the material of the pot underside.

The selection of utensils marked by this symbol on the underside or the packaging ensures that the utensils are designated for use with the induction hob.

It is recommended to use Zelmer pans and pots designated for use with induction hobs.

The advantages of induction:

Very short heating time. The removal of the utensil from the hob automatically stops the heating.
After placing the utensil again on the hob (within a minute), the hob will automatically restart heating.
Fast reaction upon the change of power.

The heat is generated only in the pot thanks to which the energy is used solely for cooking purposes.

The additional BOOSTER function considerably shortens the cooking time.

In case of the ZPI6012UE model, this function is available for two heating zones I and III.

In case of the ZPI6014UE model, this function is available for all four heating zones.

Preparing the appliance for operation

After switching on the appliance a single beep will be heard and all indicators will light for about 1 second – it means that the induction hob is in the standby mode.

Selection of utensils

The induction hob detects if the utensil placed on the heating zone is suitable for use with the appliance.

① Place the utensil on the heating zone.
② If the indicator shows the symbol ^a,b , the utensil is not suitable for use with the induction hob.
③ If it is possible to operate the appliance after setting the power level, it means that the utensil may be used with the hob.

Make sure that the bottom of the utensil is fl at and that its diameter must be at least equal to the diameter of the heating zone used.

You may use a magnet to check of the utensil is suitable for use with the induction hob. If the magnet "attaches" to the bottom of the utensil, it may be used for induction cooking.

Operating the hob

① Switch on the hob with the button. All indicators will show “-”.
② Place the utensil in the selected heating zone.
③ Select the desired power level (1-9) using the - + buttons. The default setting is 5.

If you simultaneously press the -buttons for the given heating zone, the power setting will be reduced to 0 and the heating zone will stop operating.

After removing the utensil from the heating zone, the heating zone stops operating and the symbol “U” on the power level indicator will fl ash for one minute. After that the heating zone switches off (symbol “-”).

If you place the utensil back on the heating zone when the symbol “U” is fl ashing, the heating zone will automatically return to heating at the previous setting.

④ After operation, switch off the hob with the button. The hob will switch to the standby mode and after 2 minutes it will switch off

Heat indicator

When using the hob for a longer period of time, the given heating zone remains hot for some time after switching the appliance off. The symbol "H" on the power indicator of the given heating zone warns against accidental touching of the hot hob.

Detecting improper items

If an item of an improper size (scissors, knife, fork, keys etc.) or a non-magnetic utensil is placed on the hob, it will automatically switch to the standby mode

Overheat protection

The hob is equipped with a built-in sensor, which measures the temperature inside the hob. If the permitted temperature value is exceeded, the induction hob will automatically switch off.

Automatic switch off

When the heating zone is switched on without any operation, the hob will switch off automatically upon the lapse of a default time depending on the set power level. See table below:

BOOSTER function

The BOOSTER function temporarily increases the power of the given heating zone.

The BOOSTER function operates for a maximum of 5 minutes and afterwards the heating zone returns to the previous power setting.

To switch on the BOOSTER function, the power indicator on given heating zone must fl ash.

① Press the B button.
② The symbol "P" will appear on the power level indicator and the heating zone will start operating with the maximum power.
③ Press the button to switch off the BOOSTER function. The power level of the heating zone will return to the previous setting.

ZPI6012UE model:

Only two heating zones: I and III may use the BOOSTER function.

While the BOOSTER function is active in the heating zone I, the power of the heating zone II is automatically reduced to level 2.

The same concerns the heating zones III and IV.

ZPI6014UE model:

The BOOSTER function may be simultaneously active in only two heating zones: I and III, I and IV, II and III as well as II and IV.

While the BOOSTER function is active in the heating zone I, the power of the heating zone II is automatically reduced to level 2 and vice versa.

The same concerns the heating zones III and IV.

TIMER function

① Select the desired power level of the selected heating zone using the ②, ③ buttons.
② Press the button within 5 seconds (when the power indicator is flashing) and set the desired time (max. 120 minutes) with the —, buttons. If you press and hold the — or button, the time will respectively increase or decrease by 10 minutes.
③ Confir rm the settings by pressing the button. Upon the lapse of the set time a single beep will be heard and the heating zone will switch off.

To cancel the TIMER function during operation, simultaneously press the -buttons.

A glowing dot symbol next to the power indicator e.g. "5" indicates that the TIMER function is enabled for the given heating zone.

If you do not select any heating zone (within 5 seconds) before pressing the ⏻ button, the TIMER function will not be set to any heating zone. After the lapse of the set time, a 30-second beep will be heard.

LOCK function

The LOCK function enables to block all the buttons (except for and buttons).

① Press to block the buttons.
② The TIMER indicator will show the symbol "Loc
③ To unblock the buttons press and hold the button.

If you switch off the hob with the ⏻ button when the LOCK function is active, to switch it back on you have to press the ⏻ button and unblock the hob by pressing and holding the ⏱ button.

Cleaning and maintenance

Remember to keep the hob clean.

Unplug the appliance and before cleaning.

Do not use steam jets to clean the hob.
light dirt wipe the hob with a cloth socked in lukewarm water wipe until dry with a sponge.
Heavy dirt wipe the hob with a cloth socked in lukewarm water wipe until dry with a special sponge for cleaning glass.
limestone and other residue remove the dirt by applying a small amount of special substance for cleaning ceramic glass or white wine vinegar and next wipe with a dry cloth.
●sweetmeat, melt aluminum, plastic remove by using a special scraper suitable for cleaning glass and next wipe with a damp cloth. If necessary use a special substance for cleaning ceramic glass.

Display and control of errors

The most common problems together with the remedies are described below.

In case of a malfunction, the induction hob will automatically switch on the protective mode and one of the following codes will be displayed:

F0/F1/F2 – NO VENTILATION – contact the service center.

F3-F8 – INCORRECT VOLTAGE – switch the appliance off and switch it back on. If the problem persists, contact the service center.

E3/E4 – INCORRECT TEMPERATURE – check the utensil.

E5/E6 – INCORRECT HEAT DISTRIBUTION – switch off the appliance, allow to cool down and switch it back on.

Never attempt to repair the appliance by yourself!

Ecology – environment protection

Each user can protect the natural environment. It is neither diffi cult nor expensive.

In order to do it: put the cardboard packing into recycling paper container; put the polyethylene (PE) bags into container for plastic.

When worn out, dispose the appliance to particular disposal centre, because of the dangerous elements of this appliance, which can be hazardous for natural environment.
