USER MANUAL KM 3902 SEVERIN

Before using the appliance, please read the following instructions carefully and keep this manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by persons familiar with these instructions.

Connection to the mains supply

Make sure that the supply voltage corresponds with the voltage marked on the rating label. This product complies with all binding CE labelling directives.

Important safety instructions

  • Before the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. If the appliance, for instance, has been dropped onto a hard surface, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
  • Do not allow the unit or its power cord to touch hot surfaces or to come into contact

with any heat sources.

  • Do not leave the appliance unattended while connected. Always remove the plug from the wall socket, even if you leave the room only for a short while
  • The appliance may only be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.
    Children must not be permitted to operate the appliance. The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children.
    Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance.
  • Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children - these materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.
  • The attachments designed for cutting, slicing, grating and shredding have extremely sharp blades. To prevent the possibility of severe injury, use extreme care when handling these attachments, especially during cleaning and when emptying the bowl.
    Always use the pestle to feed food into the bowl. Do not under any circumstances use your hands.
  • Do not let the appliance run empty.
  • Do not touch any moving parts during operation - this can be extremely dangerous.
  • This appliance should only be used with the attachments provided by the manufacturer and in accordance with the purposes described in this manual.
    Always remove the plug from the wall socket

  • prior to assembly,

  • when changing any attachment,
  • after use,
  • in case of any malfunction and
  • during cleaning.

  • When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself.

  • Do not let the power cord hang free.

  • No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with. Any misuse can cause severe personal injury.

  • This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as in

  • staff kitchens, offices and other commercial environments,

  • agricultural areas,
  • hotels, motels etc. and similar establishments,
  • bed-and-breakfast guest houses.

  • In order to comply with safety regulations and to avoid hazards, repairs of electrical appliances must be carried out by qualified personnel, including the replacement of the power cord. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to one of our customer service departments. The address can be found in the appendix to this manual.

Operation

Control switch

The control switch allows for the following settings:

II The unit is switched on - high speed
I The unit is switched on - low speed
0 The unit is switched off
P The unit remains running at high operating speed as long as the pulse switch is held at the P -position.

General information

Before using the unit for the first time, all attachments and accessory parts must be cleaned as described in the section General Care and Cleaning.

Always fit the required attachment first before use.

Note: This kitchen appliance is equipped with a safety switch. The appliance can only be switched on if the selected attachments are correctly fitted and locked.

Turn off the unit after use and wait until the motor has come to a complete standstill before changing or removing any attachments.

A. Chopping/mincing

  • Fit the drive shaft into the drive clutch.
  • Attach the bowl and turn clockwise to lock it so that the two arrows on the bowl and the housing are properly aligned.
  • Place the drive shaft extension on the drive shaft.
  • Fit the chopping/mincing blade over the shaft extension and push it firmly down as far as it will go so that it almost touches the bottom of the bowl.

Caution: Hold the blade only by its fitted plastic grips - the blades are extremely sharp.

Put the ingredients (max. 500g ) into the bowl.
- Place the lid on the bowl and lock it by turning clockwise until it clicks into place in the handle.
- For safety reasons, use the pestle at all times when feeding the ingredients into the food chute. During operation, the pestle should remain inserted.

Short-term operation:

When using the chopping/mincing function, please note that the appliance is designed for short-term operation only, i.e. the unit must not be operated for more than 1 minute at a time. Switch off the appliance afterwards and allow sufficient time (around 5 mins) for it to cool down before resuming operation.

Operation settings

We recommend using the Pulse setting (P). The desired degree of chopping/mincing (from coarse to fine) for meat, onions, dried fruit, celery, fish etc. is normally achieved after approx. 15-30 seconds already.

B. Kneading and stirring/mixing

  • Fit the drive shaft into the drive clutch.
  • Attach the bowl and turn clockwise to lock it so that the two arrows on the bowl and the housing are properly aligned.
  • Place the drive shaft extension on the drive shaft in such a way that the extension almost touches the bottom of the bowl.

  • Fit the kneading insert over the shaft extension and push it firmly down as far as it will go so that it almost touches the bottom of the bowl.
    Put the ingredients (max. 500g ) into the bowl.

  • Place the lid on the bowl and lock it by turning clockwise until it clicks into place in the handle.
  • For safety reasons, use the pestle at all times when feeding the ingredients into the food chute. During operation, the pestle should remain inserted.

Short-term operation:

When using the kneading function, please note that the appliance is designed for short-term operation only, i.e. the unit must not be operated for more than 2 minutes at a time. Switch off the appliance afterwards and allow sufficient time (around 5 mins) for it to cool down before resuming operation.

Operation settings

  • Start the kneading process at speed level I. Once the dough has reached a firmer consistency, continue kneading at speed level II.

C. Whipping cream / beating egg-white

  • Fit the drive shaft into the drive clutch.
  • Attach the bowl and turn clockwise to lock it so that the two arrows on the bowl and the housing are properly aligned.
  • Place the drive shaft extension on the drive shaft.
  • Fit the blender disc for whipped cream and egg-white over the shaft extension and push it firmly down as far as it will go so that it almost touches the bottom of the bowl.
    Put the ingredients (max. 400g ) into the bowl.
  • Place the lid on the bowl and lock it by turning clockwise until it clicks into place in the handle.
    During operation, the pestle should always remain inserted.

Short-term operation:

When whipping cream or beating egg-white, please note that the appliance is designed for short-term operation only, i.e. the unit must not be operated for more than 2 minutes at a time. Switch off the appliance afterwards and allow sufficient time (around 5 mins) for it to cool down before resuming operation.

  • Start processing at speed level I and increase to level II if necessary.

D. Slicing and shredding/grating

  • Fit the drive shaft into the drive clutch.
  • Attach the bowl and turn clockwise to lock it so that the two arrows on the bowl and the housing are properly aligned.
    Hold the insert mounting with the grating surface facing up.
    First fit the edge of the selected insert into the side of its mounting.
  • Now press the opposite side of the insert into the mounting.

(To remove the insert, push it up from below on this side until it comes free from the mounting.)

  • When properly inserted, the upper surface of the insert must be flush with the surface of the disc.
  • Fit the insert mounting with the desired insert onto the shaft extension.
  • Attach the bowl and turn clockwise to lock it so that the two arrows on the bowl and the housing are properly aligned.
  • For safety reasons, use the pestle at all times when feeding the ingredients into the food chute.
    Always switch the appliance on before feeding the ingredients into the food chute.
  • Do not put in more than 1kg of food. When processing larger quantities, the bowl must be emptied from time to time.

Functions and operation settings

  • The slicer can be used for slicing cucumber, potatoes, carrots etc.
  • For grating cabbage, carrots or celery etc, the grater insert should be used.
  • For grating potatoes (e.g. for potato pancakes), the shredder insert should be used
  • Start processing at speed level I. If necessary, the process may be repeated at speed level II.

Power cord wind-up storage

The wind-up power cord storage in the base facilitates storing the power cord and limiting its length during use.

General Care and Cleaning

  • Turn off the appliance after use, remove the plug from the wall socket and wait until the motor has come to a complete standstill.
  • To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the housing with water and do not immerse it in water.
  • The housing may be wiped with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
  • Attachment parts should be thoroughly cleaned immediately after processing, using hot water and a mild detergent.
  • A suitable spatula should be used to remove food residue from the bowl.
  • Do not put the attachments in a dish washer. Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions. When cleaning the chopping blade and inserts, beware of sharp edges and blades - these can be extremely dangerous.

Disposal

Do not dispose of old or defective appliances in domestic garbage; this should only be done through public

collection points.

Guarantee

This product is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase. Under this guarantee the manufacturer undertakes to repair or replace any parts found to be defective, providing the product is returned to one of our authorised service centres. This guarantee is only valid if the appliance has been used in accordance with the instructions, and provided that it has not been modified, repaired or interfered with by any unauthorised person, or damaged through misuse.

This guarantee naturally does not cover wear and tear, nor breakables such as glass and ceramic items, bulbs etc. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights, nor any legal rights you may have as a consumer under applicable national legislation governing the purchase of goods.
