Before any intervention, turn off and unplug your SMEG KT90BLE hood from the power supply. The charcoal filters recycle the air in filter mode and trap odors until saturation. Unlike the metal grease filters that can be washed, charcoal filters cannot be washed or regenerated: they must be completely replaced.

To access the charcoal filters, you must first remove the metal grease filters. Depending on the configuration of your model, the charcoal filters of your hood may be of three different types:

Disc filter: turn it 90 degrees as indicated in the illustrated booklet, then extract it from its housing
Cartridge filter with springs: apply sufficient pressure to overcome the resistance of the spring, then remove the filter
Cartridge filter with clamp and threaded knob: unscrew the knob, remove the locking clamp, then extract the activated charcoal filter

Once the old filters are removed, install the new charcoal filters by performing the operations in reverse. Ensure they are properly positioned in their respective housings. Then reassemble the metal grease filters, making sure the handles are facing outward from the hood.

If your hood has an electronic control, you must reset the filter cleaning alarm after replacement. Refer to your specific model to locate the button or key intended for this purpose.

It is recommended to replace the charcoal filters at least every six months, or more frequently if you use your hood intensively. In cases of particularly heavy use, a replacement every three months may be necessary to maintain optimal odor filtration and ensure the proper functioning of the appliance.
