The risk is borne solely by the user.
What does sous-vide mean?
Sous-vide (the French "sous" means "for under vacuum" and "vide" means "vacuum") or vacuum cooking is a special cooking method in which the food is first vacuum-packed in special plastic bags and then cooked at a low temperature in a water bath. The cooking temperatures remain under 100^ , which makes it a very gentle cooking method. The low temperatures change the products more slowly at a molecular level, making the cooking results all the more tender and juicy. In sous-vide cooking, the airtight packaging retains nearly all the flavour and nutrients; this making vacuum-cooked food particularly flavoursome.
The aromas of spices become more intense under a vacuum. It is therefore better to use them sparingly and add more later if necessary.
Another benefit is that the core temperature can be controlled exactly - so the rule of thumb is: water temperature = core temperature. Overcooking the food is almost impossible if the temperature has been correctly selected as the individual ingredients do not get any hotter than the temperature of the water.
You will need the following accessories (not supplied) to cook using the sous-vide method:
-Pot
-vacuum sealer
- special vacuum bags or plastic bags that do not release any plasticizers or similar to the food and that are heat-resistant.
Package contents
The appliance is supplied with the following components as standard:
- Sous-vide stick
- Operating instructions
NOTE
▶ Check the package for completeness and signs of visible damage.
▶ If the delivery is incomplete or damage has occurred as a result of defective packaging or during transport, contact the Service hotline (see section Service).
Safety information

DANGER - RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
▶ Check the appliance for visible external damage before use. Do not use the appliance if the mains cable or appliance itself has been dropped or there is visible damage.
The appliance may only be used in dry indoor rooms.

Never immerse the appliance in water deeper than up to the MAX marking! Never immerse the appliance in other liquids!
▶ Ensure that the mains cable never becomes wet or damp when the appliance is in use. Route the cable so that it cannot be trapped or damaged in any way.
- Arrange for defective power plugs and/or cables to be replaced as soon as possible by a qualified technician or by our Customer Service Department to avoid the risk of injury.
▶ All repairs must be carried out by authorised specialist workshops or by the Customer Service department. Improper repairs may put the user at risk. It will also invalidate any warranty claims.
To disconnect the appliance completely from the mains power, the mains plug must be removed from the power socket. The appliance should be set up in such a way that you have unrestricted access to the mains socket at all times, and can pull out the plug immediately in an emergency.
- When unplugging the appliance, always pull on the plug rather than on the cable.
▶ Pull the plug from the mains socket before removing the appliance from the water.

DANGER - RISK OF FIRE!
- Do not use an external timer switch or a separate remote control system to operate the appliance.

WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!
▶ Use the appliance only in pots with a dead weight that ensures sufficient stability during operation.
The appliance does not need to be monitored continuously during use, but it should be checked regularly. This is especially important if long cooking times are set.
This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years or over, if they are supervised or have been told how to use the appliance safely and are aware of the potential risks. Cleaning and user maintenance tasks must not be carried out by children unless they are aged 8 years or over and are supervised. The appliance and its connecting cable must be kept away from children younger than 8 years old.
This appliance may be used by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, provided that they are under supervision or have been told how to use the appliance safely and are aware of the potential risks.
▶ Children must not play with the appliance.

CAUTION: hot surfaces
The heating element of the appliance gets very hot during use. During operation, only touch the appliance on the control panel or on the pot clip.
▶ Never put your bare hands into the water when you are immersing the vacuum bag in the water bath or removing it.
The heating element of the appliance remains very hot for a while after removing the plug from the mains socket.
Do not touch the hot element or put it down on any flammable surface, such as wood.
The surface of the heating element retains residual heat after use. Allow the appliance to cool down to room temperature to avoid burns.
CAUTION - PROPERTY DAMAGE!
- Do not add any foods to the water bath unless they are firmly sealed. Any water getting into the food will produce unfavourable results or spoil the food.
- Ensure that the appliance, the mains cable and the plug do not come into contact with heat sources such as hotplates or naked flames.
▶ Never place the appliance near sources of heat.
▶ Never open the housing. If you do, it can no longer be assured that the appliance is safe, and the warranty will be invalidated. - Allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning and stowing it away it.
In the case a malfunction occurs on the appliance, an error code will blink on the display. When the error codes "Er1", "Er 2", "Er 3" or "Er 6" are displayed, switch off the appliance immediately, pull the mains plug out of the socket and contact the Service Hotline (see Section Service).
The error code display "Er4" informs you that the appliance is not in the water. Handle the appliance as described in the Section Preparing the appliance. The error code display will then go out.
The error code display "Er5" informs you that the water temperature is too high. Switch the appliance off, take it out of the water and let it cool down.
