Frequently Asked Questions - ZEB1010 Zelmer

How many eggs can I cook at once in the Zelmer ZEB1010?
You can boil up to 7 hen's eggs per cooking session. Always use fresh eggs and place one egg in each egg insert with the larger end down.
How do I choose the boiling hardness (soft, medium, hard)?
Use the measuring beaker with three scales: Scale 1 (soft), Scale 2 (medium), Scale 3 (hard). Fill water to the marking corresponding to the number of eggs and desired hardness.
Do I need to pierce the eggs before cooking?
Yes, make a tiny hole in the small end of each egg using the supplied egg pecker. This prevents the shell from cracking. Caution: the needle is very sharp.
What should I do if the egg cooker produces smoke or smell on first use?
This is normal for the first use. The heating element may emit some smoke and odor as manufacturing residues burn off. Ensure proper ventilation.
How does the automatic shut-off work?
When all water has evaporated, the appliance emits an audible signal and the indicator lamp goes off. Then switch off and unplug. The eggs are done.
Can I add salt or other additives to the water?
No, only use cold, clear water. If water is very hard, add half a teaspoon of vinegar. Do not add salt or any other liquids.
How should I clean the Zelmer ZEB1010?
Let it cool completely. Wash the cover and egg tray with water and dish soap. Wipe the metal body and water tray with a damp cloth. Never immerse in water.
How do I decalcify the water tray?
Pour a mix of household vinegar and water into the measuring beaker (up to the max line), then pour into the water tray. Let it sit for 30 minutes without boiling, then pour out and wipe dry.
What safety features does the egg cooker have?
It has an automatic shut-off to prevent overheating, a residual heat warning, and a short cord. Do not spill on connector. Keep out of reach of children under 8.
What should I do if the egg cooker breaks?
Contact an authorized technical service by B&B TRENDS, S.L. Do not open the device yourself. The warranty covers repair or replacement for 2 years, subject to conditions.

BEFORE STARTING FOR THE FIRST TIME

Remove all packaging material.

Clean the unit before using it for the first time (see CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE).

There can be some smoke and smell when using it for the first time.

OPERATION

You can boil up to 7 hen's eggs per cooking session.

Please always use only fresh eggs.

Place the egg tray (2) on the water tray (8).

Make a tiny hole in the small end of the egg using the egg pecker (11).

Please do not use force, otherwise the egg might break.

Caution! Danger of injury: the needle of the egg pecker (11) is very sharp!

You can place only one egg in each of the seven eggs inserts (5).

Please, put in the bigger end of the egg into the egg insert (5).

Now fill in the required quantity of cold, clear water into the measuring beaker (9).

The quantity of water depends upon the number of eggs to be boiled and the hardness desired

(soft, medium or hard boiled). There are three scales (10) on the measuring beaker (9) showing how

much water to use (indications are in English, German and French) for how many eggs:

Scale 1 – soft, weich, mollet.

Scale 2 – medium, mittel, medium.

Scale 3 – hard, hart, dur.

If you would like to cook 1 egg, choose the scale (soft, medium, hard) and put water up to the marking 1.

If you would like to cook 2 eggs, choose the scale (soft, medium, hard) and put water up to the marking 2.

If you would like to cook 3 eggs, choose the scale (soft, medium, hard) and put water up to the marking 3.

If you would like to cook 4 eggs, choose the scale (soft, medium, hard) and put water up to the marking 4.

If you would like to cook 5 eggs, choose the scale (soft, medium, hard) and put water up to the marking 5.

If you would like to cook 6 egg, choose the scale (soft, medium, hard) and put water up to the marking 6.

If you would like to cook 7 eggs, choose the scale (soft, medium, hard) and put water up to the marking 7.

If the water is very hard, you can add half a teaspoon of vinegar. Please do not use any fluids other than water. Also, do not add any additives (such as salt) into the water.

Now, pour the water from the measuring beaker (9) into the water tray (8).

Cover the egg insert (5) with the cover (1). Please ensure that egg insert (5) and cover (1) fit properly on the metal body (7).

Put the switch I/O (6) in position O (= Unit off).

Connect the mains plug through a suitable plug socket and put the switch O/I (6) in position I.

The indicator lamp in the switch O/I (6) lights up.

The hot plate on the metal body (7) begins to heat up the water in the water tray (8).

Caution: parts of the unit become very hot during and after use! While the unit is in use, touch it only at the handle (4). Please watch out particularly for hot water and emitted steam!

Burning hazard: Do not shift the unit while it is in use.

The water is boiling and hot steam escapes through the steam opening. The cover (1) must not be taken off while eggs are being boiled. Or the steam would all escape immediately. When the water in the water tray has all evaporated, the eggs are done. An audible signal is emitted. The indicator lamp in the switch O/I (6) goes off. The hot plate on the metal body (7) now starts cooling off. Put the switch O/I (6) in position O. The audible signal discontinues. Pull out the mains plug. Please lift up cover (1) from the unit carefully. Hold it by the handle (4)! Remove the egg tray (2) from the unit by the egg tray handle (3). Help the eggs cool down by holding them under cold, flowing water. The eggs are now ready to serve. Please put back the eggs tray (2) to a water try (8) using a piece of cloth.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

In addition to this, you must observe the safety instructions.

Let the unit cool down completely before starting to clean it.

You can clean the cover (1) and egg tray (2) with water and dish washing medium.

Use a piece of cloth moistened with water and cleaning medium for cleaning the metal body (7) and water tray (8). Dry them carefully after cleaning.

Caution! Do not let the electrical elements in the unit come in contact with water!

Decalcification of the water tray (8): egg shells contain a lot of calcium salts. The salt can deposit in the water tray (8), unless it is decalcified regularly. To do this, pour a little household vinegar into the measuring beaker (9). Fill up the measuring beaker (9) with water. Pour this mixture now into the water tray (8). After 30 minutes of working, the mixture can be poured out. Wipe the water tray (8) dry using a piece of cloth. Please do not boil this mixture in the unit. We recommend that you store the unit, after cleaning, back into the carton, in which you received the unit.
