  • Before using the deep fat fryer for the first time, clean the individual parts thoroughly (see section “cleaning”)
  • Never immerse the control/heating element in water and do not clean these parts under running water.
  • Ensure that all parts are completely dry before filling the deep fat fryer with oil or liquid fat.
  • It is recommended to use frying oil or liquid frying fat. Solid frying fat can also be used. In this case, special care must be taken to ensure that the fat does not spatter and the heating element overheats (see section “Solid frying fat” and “Tips”)
  • Never switch on the deep fat fryer if it is not filled with oil or liquid fat.
  • Only use oil or fat that does not foam and is suitable for frying. This information is shown on the packaging or label.
  • The deep fat fryer must be filled with oil or fat between the two marks on the inside of he bowl, before switching on the deep fat fryer,

SAFETY

Safety thermal cut-out

In the event of overheating, the thermal cut-out will switch off the deep fat fryer.

This can happen if the deep fat fryer is not filled with sufficient oil or solid frying fat is melted in the deep fat fryer.

In the case of solid fat is melted in the deep fat fryer. In the case of solid fat, the heating element is unable to radiate the produced heat quickly enough. If the safety thermal cut-out switches off the deep fat fryer, proceed as follows:

  • Allow the oil or fat to cool down.
  • Carefully push in the (reset switch) at the rear of the control element with a small screwdriver. The deep fat fryer is now ready to use again.

Safety switch

The safety switch in the control element ensures that the heating element can only be switch when the control element locks with a click.

Cold zone

During the frying process, food particles collect on the bottom of the bowl.

As the heating element is arranged below the bowl and heats the oil/fat in the upper area of the deep fat fryer, the oil/fat between the base and the heating element remains relatively cold (cold zone). This prevents the food particles in this zone burning and offers the advantage of being able to use the oil or fat more than once.

Frying with solid fat

We recommend the use of frying oil or liquid frying fat in this deep fat fryer. Solid frying fat can also be used. In order to prevent fat spatter and the deep fat fryer becoming too hot, the following precautions should be taken:

- When using fresh fat, allow the blocks of fat to melt slowly on a moderate heat in a normal frying pan. Carefully pour the melted fat into the deep fat fryer. Plug in the mains plug and switch on the deep fat fryer (see section “frying”)

- After, use, store the deep fat fryer with the resolidified fat a room temperature. If the fat is too cold. It can's spatter when reheated! To prevent this happening, poke the solid fat with a fork several times, take care not to damage the heating element.

• Overheating of the heating element: Please note this important information if you would like to use fat in the deep fat fryer!

- The fat has to be melted slowly so that it can enclose the heating element.

- When fat is placed in the deep fat fryer for the firsttime or melted again, there is a danger of overheating if the selected temperature is too high! Placing fat in the deep fat fryer for the first time

• Liquefy the fat beforehand in a separate vessel.

- Do not heat the fat above 50°C in order to prevent injury when transferring it from the vessel to the deep fat fryer.

• Transfer the liquefied fat to the frying fat container.

- Once the required oil level has been reached you can set the desired temperature on the thermostat.

- If the fat in the deep fat fryer has become hard, it is difficult to know how much it has already melted down at the heating element.

- Turn the thermostat slowly up until the control lamp shows that the heating is working.

Stop! Do not turn any further! The heating will now slowly heat up the fat.

• A short time later the heating switches off again.

Operating instructions

Useful hints for use

• Always remove the food remaining in the oil (e.g. pieces of French fries). After the device has been used several times you should change the oil.

Use high quality frying oil or frying grease.

- Fats and oils must be heatable to high temperatures.

Do not use margarine, olive oil or butter: they are not fit for frying, because they start to smoke already at low temperatures.

We recommend the use of liquid frying oil.

WARNING: Danger!

• It is essential to change the fat / oil regularly.
- Do not use any frozen food containing ice!
• Rub dry humid foods with a cloth before frying.
- If food containing too much moisture (e.g. chips containing a lot of ice etc.) is used, there is a strong tendency to form foam, which in the worst case may cause the hot fat / oil to overflow and result in injuries.
- Please note that the safety switch (6) is operated when the control element is inserted into the guide mechanism.

  • Choose the right frying temperature and check the conditions of the food to be fried. A rule of thumb is that pre-fried foods require a higher temperature than raw foods.
  • Do not carry or move the deep fryer if the oil or grease is still hot.
  • When frying dough-like foods scrape off the excess dough and put the pieces carefully into the oil.
  • Please ensure that the handle of the deep fat frying basket has been correctly attached.
  • The deep fat frying basket must not be more than 2/3 full. Do not overfill the frying basket.

NOTE: Maximum capacity

Large basket: 1000 g

Small baskets: 500 g each

Tips for reducing acrylic amide concentration

  • Acrylic amide is a chemical compound. It comes from the bronzing process (deep-frying, baking, frying, roasting and grilling) in foodstuffs high in carbohydrates (starch and sugar) like, for example, potato and cereal products.
  • It is suspected that acrylic amide damages genetic make-up and causes cancer. The actual risk to humans is not currently known.
    • We recommend that you do not exceed 170 °C when deep-frying.
  • Furthermore we recommend that you keep the frying time as short as possible and fry food to a maximum gold yellow colour.
  • Thicker chips or pieces of potato are less affected as the acrylic amide is mainly in the outer layer.
  • If you make chips from fresh potatoes, you can soak the peeled and chopped pieces of potato for an hour beforehand. This removes some of the sugars (primary substance for acrylic amide) from the outer layers.

Putting into use

Before using for the first time

  1. Mount the handle onto the frying basket:
  2. Press the ends of the wire together at the free end of the handle.
  3. Insert the brackets into wire hoops inside the basket.
  4. Lock the handle into place on the basket.
