7. Getting started

The stick blender is suitable for the following applications:

chopping and puréeing fruit and vegetables in soups, sauces and dips
mixing drinks
making milkshakes

SILVERCREST SSMA 12 A1 - Getting started - 1

Warning! Risk of injury!

If you are using the stick blender to purée hot food in a saucepan, remove the saucepan from the hob before blending and make sure that the liquid is not boiling.

Allow hot food to cool down slightly to avoid scalding.

SILVERCREST SSMA 12 A1 - Warning! Risk of injury! - 1

It is recommended that you adjust the speed of the stick blender to the food you are processing.

Use normal speed for soft foods and the higher speed for harder foods.

7.1 Operation with blender attachment (8)

If possible, put the food you wish to chop in a tall, narrow container with a flat bottom. This is perfect to achieve even puréeing results. Of course, you can also use the blender in a normal saucepan.

Function of the safety button (3) and the LED (6)

This stick blender is equipped with a safety function to protect you from injury caused by accidental operation. For this reason, the safety button (3) must be kept pressed for approx. 3 seconds before starting to process your food. The LED (6) lights green to indicate that the device is ready for operation. After you finish the blending process, the device remains ready for operation for a further 7 seconds, during which you can start another blending process.

If no new food processing is started within 7 seconds, the LED (6) goes out. A new blending process is then only possible again once operational readiness has been reactivated by pressing the safety button (3) first. In order to avoid injuries from the rotating blade, only switch the stick blender on once the blender attachment (8) is in the food.

The procedure is as follows:

  • Put the food to be processed in a suitable container or saucepan.
  • Place the blender attachment (8) into the food vertically.
  • Start the stick blender by pressing the button (4) or the button (5) depending on the desired speed. Press and hold the corresponding button (4, 5) during the blending or puréeing process and adjust the speed to your requirements by changing the button (4, 5) as necessary. If the blender attachment (8) sticks to the bottom of the container, release the button (4, 5) briefly and then continue mixing.
  • To ensure even processing of the mix, move the stick blender gently backwards and forwards.
  • When you have the results you want, release the button (4, 5) while the blender attachment (8) is still in the mixture.
  • Wait for the blade to stop moving before removing the blender attachment (8) from the puréed food.

SILVERCREST SSMA 12 A1 - The procedure is as follows: - 1

If you notice any unusual noises during operation, e.g., squeaking or similar, apply a small amount of neutral cooking oil to the drive shaft of the blender attachment(8). Please also refer to the adjacent sample diagram.

SILVERCREST SSMA 12 A1 - The procedure is as follows: - 2

7.2 Processing times chart

If you have not achieved a satisfactory blending result within this time, pause the blending process and allow the motor to cool down first. Then you can continue the blending process.
