2. Intended purpose

The electric toothbrush is intended solely for tooth cleaning and oral hygiene in humans. The device is designed for private, domestic use. This device must not be used for commercial purposes.

3. Safety information

Warnings

If necessary, the following warnings are used in these operating instructions:

DANGER! High risk: failure to observe this warning may result in injury to life and limb.

WARNING! Moderate risk: failure to observe this warning may result in injury or serious material damage.

CAUTION: low risk: ignoring this warning may result in minor injuries or damage to property.

NOTE: circumstances and specifics that must be observed when handling the device.

Instructions for safe operation

- This device can be used by children and people with restricted physical, sensory or intellectual abilities or people without adequate experience and/or understanding, if they are supervised or instructed on how to use this device and if they are aware of the resulting hazards. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children unless they are supervised.

- Children must not play with the device.

- The battery charger and the travel case may not be used for charging in the shower, bathtub or over washbasins filled with water.

- Only charge the battery using the original accessories supplied (battery charger, travel case, USB power adapter, USB charger cable).

- This device contains a battery that cannot be replaced.

DANGER for children!

- Packing materials are not children's toys. Children should not be allowed to play with the plastic bags: there is a risk of suffocation.

DANGER to and from pets and livestock!

Electrical devices can represent a danger to pets and livestock. In addition, animals can also cause damage to the device. For this reason you should keep animals away from electrical devices at all times.

DANGER! Risk of electric shock due to moisture!

- The toothbrush, battery charger, USB power adapter and USB charger cable must not be immersed in water or other liquids.

- Protect the device from moisture, water drops and water splashes: failure to observe this instruction may result in an electric shock hazard.

• Never touch the device with wet hands.
• Make sure that the surface under the device is dry.
• If the battery charger does fall into water, unplug the USB power adapter immediately and only then remove the battery charger. In this case do not use the battery charger again, but have it checked by a specialist workshop.

DANGER! Risk of electric shock!

• The installation of a residual current device with a nominal trip current not exceeding 30 mA in the building wiring offers additional protection.
  Contact a skilled electrician in this regard.
• Do not operate the device if the device, the battery charger, the charger cable or the USB power adapter are visibly damaged or if the device has been dropped.
• Only connect the USB power adapter to a properly installed and easily accessible

wall socket, whose voltage corresponds to the specifications on the rating plate. The wall socket must still be easily accessible after the device is plugged in.

• The hand unit of the toothbrush must only be charged using the battery charger supplied, or in the travel case with the USB power adapter.
• Ensure that the charger cable cannot be caught or crushed, and that it cannot be damaged by sharp edges or hot points.
• To fully disconnect the battery charger from the power supply, pull out the USB power adapter.

• Unplug the USB power adapter from the wall socket:

• when a malfunction occurs

• when you are not using the device
• before you clean the device

• during thunderstorms

• In order to avoid any hazards, do not make modifications to the device. Repairs must be carried out by a specialist workshop or the Service Centre.

• When using an extension cable, this must correspond to the applicable safety regulations.

DANGER from batteries!

• Protect the battery against mechanical damages. Fire hazard!
• Do not expose the device to direct sunshine or heat. Use the device only in the temperature range from +10 °C to +40 °C. Only charge the battery within this temperature range.
• The battery must be charged only with the original accessories (battery charger, travel case, USB charger cable, USB power adapter) supplied.
• Should the electrolyte solution leak out of the battery, avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes and skin. Rinse immediately with plenty of clean water

and consult a doctor. The electrolyte solution can cause irritation.

- The device is provided with a lithium ion battery.

• The battery cannot be removed!
• This device must not be opened!
• The device with the installed battery must be disposed of properly.

CAUTION

• Users could possibly experience mild bleeding of the gums during the first days of electric toothbrush usage. Should the bleeding continue over several days, a dentist should be consulted.
• Exert only light pressure when brushing to prevent damage to the gums and to increase the service life of the bristles.

• Remove all packing material.
• Check that the device is undamaged.

5. Charging the battery

NOTES:

• Fully charge the battery before using it for the first time.
• It takes approx 3 hours to fully charge the battery.
• The toothbrush 10 cannot be switched on during the charging process.
• Place the toothbrush 10 on the peg of the battery charger 11 after use. This ensures that the toothbrush 10 always works at full power. The battery is not damaged by regular charging.

5.1 Charging on the battery charger

1. Insert the USB Type A plug of the charger cable 13 into the USB power adapter 14.
2. Plug the USB power adapter 14 into a suitable wall socket. The wall socket must still be easily accessible after connection.
3. Place the switched-off toothbrush 10 onto the peg of the battery charger 11.
4. The LED 6 flashes white.
5. The charging state of the battery is shown on the display 8 for a short time with a symbol and value in %.
6. The LED 6 goes out when the battery is fully charged.

5.2 Charging in the travel case

The toothbrush 10 can also be charged in the travel case 16.

1. Place the toothbrush 10 in the travel case 16.

2. Insert the USB Type A plug of the USB charger cable 15 into the USB power adapter 14.

3. Insert the USB Type C plug of the USB charger cable 15 into the USB port Type C 19 on the travel case 16.
4. Plug the USB power adapter 14 into a suitable wall socket. The wall socket must still be easily accessible after connection.

- The LED 6 flashes white.

- The charging state of the battery is shown on the display 8 for a short time with a symbol and % value.

- The charging indicator light 18 on the travel case flashes green.

1. When the battery is fully charged, the charging indicator light 18 and the LED 6 go out.

6. Toothbrush heads

The items supplied include 2 toothbrush heads 3.

The various marking rings 4 allow you to assign the toothbrush heads 3 to different family members.

• Take a toothbrush head 3 and slide it onto the peg of the toothbrush 5.
- In order to remove, carefully pull the toothbrush head 3 off upwards.
- The indicator bristles 2 on the brush head 1 slowly lose their colour during use. The decolouration shows when the toothbrush heads 3 should be replaced.

NOTE: we recommend that you replace the toothbrush heads 3 every 3 months or after infections (see "Ordering toothbrush heads" on page 27).

7. Operation

CAUTION:

• Users could possibly experience mild bleeding of the gums during the first days of electric toothbrush usage. Should the bleeding continue over several days, a dentist should be consulted.
• If you have had dental surgery in the last two months, consult a dentist before using the toothbrush.
• Exert only light pressure when brushing to prevent damage to the gums and to increase the service life of the bristles.

7.1 Modes

The toothbrush 10 has 6 different modes. Depending on the desired mode, press the function button 9 several times until the corresponding symbol appears on the display 8:

7.2 Brushing teeth

1. Remove the toothbrush 10 from the battery charger 12.

or

Press the on/off switch ⏻ 7 or the function button 9 of the switched-off tooth-brush once.

The symbol of the currently selected mode is shown on the display.

1. If necessary, press the function button 9 repeatedly until the symbol of the desired mode appears on the display 8.

2. Moisten the bristles, squeeze some tooth-paste on and switch on the toothbrush 10 when the brush head 1 is already in your mouth.

3. Slowly guide the brush head 1 from tooth to tooth without exerting too much pressure. Carefully clean all tooth surfaces, the inner surfaces of the teeth and the tooth edges.

Figure A: the recommended brushing time is at least 2 minutes, divided up into 30-second periods for each area of the mouth (bottom right, bottom left, top right, top left). The toothbrush indicates these intervals by brief interruptions.

- Two short interruptions signal a time interval of 30 seconds.

- Four short interruptions signal a time interval of 2 minutes.

• With a brushing time of 4 minutes, you can also divide the mouth areas into the inside and outside.
• Brush your teeth until they feel clean. You can stop the brushing cycle at any time by pressing the on/off switch ⏻.

NOTE: if the brush head 1 is pressed against the teeth too hard, the LED 6 lights up red. You should then reduce the pressure.

1. At the end of the 4-minute cycle, the toothbrush switches off automatically. Remove the brush head 1 from the mouth only when the toothbrush 10 has been switched off. The current charging state of the battery is briefly shown on the display.

NOTES:

• We recommend that you replace the toothbrush heads 3 every 3 months or after infections (see "Ordering toothbrush heads" on page 27).
• The indicator bristles 2 on the brush head 1 slowly lose their colour during use. The decolouration shows when the toothbrush heads 3 should be replaced.

8. Transport when travelling

8.1 Transport lock

NOTE: charging on the battery charger 12 or in the travel case 16 cancels the transport lock.

To secure the toothbrush 10 against accidentally being switched on, activate the transport lock.

• Switching on the transport lock: If necessary, switch off the toothbrush 10. Wait until the indicator on the display 8 goes out. Hold down the on/off switch ⏻7 of the switched-off toothbrush until the LED 6 flashes red three times. The display 8 will show the symbol 🔒.
• If you try to switch on the tooth-brush 10 with the transport lock activated, the LED 6 will flash red. The display 8 will show the symbol 🔒
• Switching off the transport lock: Hold down the on/off switch ⏻ 7 until the LED 6 flashes red three times. The display 8 will show the symbol 🔒

8.2 Travel case

The travel case 16 offers space for the toothbrush 10 and 1 toothbrush head 3.

• Open the travel case 16 by pressing on the pressure cap 17.
• Close the travel case 16 by carefully pressing the lid down until it audibly clicks into place.

9. Cleaning/Hygiene requirements

DANGER! Risk of electric shock!

Before cleaning the battery charger 12, pull the USB power adapter 14 out from the mains socket.
- Do not immerse the toothbrush 10, the battery charger 12 or the USB power adapter 14 in water! The battery charger 12 must be completely dry before it is reconnected to the USB power adapter 14.

• To ensure the hygienic functionality of the toothbrush heads 3 they must be rinsed thoroughly after every use and allowed to dry.
• Remove the toothbrush head 3 once per week and clean it in hot water.
• Rinse the toothbrush 10 as well and wipe it dry.
• Wipe the battery charger 12, the travel case 16 and the toothbrush head holder 21 with a damp cloth if necessary and rub it dry.

10. Storage

- Disconnect the device from the power supply and store it in a dry location.

11. Disposal

The battery integrated into this device must not be disposed of in household waste. The device must be disposed of properly with the battery installed.

Li-ions

This product is subject to the provisions of European Directive 2012/19/EC. The symbol showing a wheelie bin crossed through indicates that the product requires separate refuse collection in the European Union. This applies to the product and all accessories marked with this symbol. Products marked as such may not be discarded with normal domestic waste, but must be taken to a collection point for recycling electrical and electronic devices.

This recycling symbol marks e.g. an object or parts of the material as valuable for recycling. Recycling helps to reduce the consumption of raw materials and protect the environment.

Packaging

When disposing of the packaging, make sure you comply with the environmental regulations applicable in your country.

12. Trouble-shooting

If your device fails to function as required, please try this checklist first. Perhaps there is only a minor problem, and you can solve it yourself.

DANGER! Risk of electric shock!

- Do not attempt to repair the device yourself under any circumstances.

15. Warranty of the HOYER Handel GmbH

Dear Customer,

your device is provided with a 3 year warranty starting with the purchase date. In the event of product defects, you are entitled to statutory rights against the vendor. These statutory rights are not restricted by our warranty presented in the following.

Warranty conditions

The warranty period starts with the purchase date. Please keep the original purchase receipt in a safe place. This document is required to verify the purchase.

If within three years from the purchase date of this product a material or factory defect occurs, the product will be repaired or replaced by us – at our discretion – free of charge to you, or the purchase price will be refunded. This warranty implies that within the period of three years the defective device and the purchase receipt are presented, including a brief written description of the defect and the time it occurred.

If the defect is covered by our warranty, the repaired or a new product will be returned to you. No new warranty period starts with a repair or replacement of the product.

Warranty period and statutory claims for defects

The warranty period is not extended when the warranty has been claimed. This also applies to replaced and repaired parts. Any damages and defects already existing at the time of purchase must be reported immediately upon unpacking. Repairs arising after the expiration of the warranty period are subject to a charge.

Warranty coverage

The device was produced carefully according to strict quality guidelines and tested diligently prior to delivery. The warranty applies to material or factory defects.

Excluded from the warranty are wear parts subject to normal wear and damages to fragile parts, e.g. switches, lamps or other parts manufactured from glass.
