General instructions

- Read the operating instructions carefully. Familiarise yourself with the operating elements and the correct use of the appliance.

■ This appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, provided they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the appliance and understand the hazards involved.

■ Children must not play with the appliance. The appliance and its power cord must be kept away from children.

■ Please note that the user is personally responsible for accidents or dangers to other persons or property.

■ Use only replacement parts and accessories supplied and recommended by the manufacturer. The use of third-party parts will immediately invalidate your warranty.

■ The appliance must always be kept clean, dry and free from oil or grease.

■ The appliance must not be used at altitudes higher than 2000 metres.

Electrical safety

■ Before use, always check power cords and extension cords for signs of damage or ageing. If the cord is damaged during use, the appliance must be immediately disconnected from the mains network. DO NOT TOUCH THE CORD UNTIL IT HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED FROM THE MAINS. Do not use the appliance if the cord is damaged or worn.

■ Ensure that the mains voltage and mains frequency correspond to the specifications on the type plate.

■ Only connect the appliance to a socket with residual current device with a rated residual current not exceeding 30 mA.

■ Do not use the power cord to pull the plug out of the socket or to pull the appliance. Protect the power cord from heat, oil and sharp edges.

■ Switch off the appliance and pull the mains plug out of the socket. Make sure that all moving parts have come to a complete stop.

■ To avoid potential risks, damaged power cables should be replaced by the manufacturer, their customer service department or a similarly qualified person. Contact the Service Centre.

Operation

■ The use of the appliance in rain or humid environments is prohibited.

■ Only work in daylight or good artificial lighting.

■ Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating the appliance. Do not use the appliance while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.

■ Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.

■ Disconnect the mains plug from the socket when not in use as well as during breaks in work and before any work on the appliance, such as changing the nozzle.

■ Careless use of the appliance can cause a fire.

- Take care when using the appliances in the vicinity of inflammable materials.

- Do not aim at the same place for a prolonged period of time.

- Do not use in the presence of an explosive atmosphere.

- Heat can be transferred to combustible materials which are hidden from view.

- Replace on stand after use and allow to cool before putting it away.

- Do not leave the appliance unattended while it is in operation.

■ In case of danger, pull the plug out of the power outlet immediately.

■ Never use the appliance as a hairdryer.

■ Never aim the hot air stream at people or animals.

■ Never look directly into the nozzle opening at the outlet.

■ Do not touch the nozzle while it is hot.

- Keep the nozzle outlet at a distance from the surface or workpiece being heated. The appliance could overheat.

Use as a solid fuel lighter / using the grill lighting nozzle

■ Check that the solid fuel lighter is in the correct position.

■ Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before taking it out of the flame.

■ Allow the solid fuel lighter to cool before packing it away.

■ Do not allow the power cable or other flammable materials to come into contact with hot components of the solid fuel lighter.

Cleaning, maintenance and storage

■ Allow the motor to cool before storing the appliance.
■ For safety reasons, replace worn or damaged parts. Use only original spare parts and accessories. The use of third-party parts will immediately invalidate your warranty.
■ The appliance may only be opened by an authorised electrician. In the event of a fault, always contact our Service Centre.
■ Switch off the drive, disconnect the appliance from the power supply and allow the appliance to cool when stopping the appliance for cleaning, adjustment, storage or to replace an accessory part.
■ Handle the appliance with care and keep it clean.
■ Store the appliance out of the reach of children.

Preparation

WARNING!

▶ Risk of injury due to accidental starting of the appliance. Only insert the plug into a socket once the appliance is entirely ready for use.

First use

NOTE

Smoke may be produced during the first use. The smoke results from binding agents that are released from the insulating foil of the heating unit by the heat during the first use. Always provide good ventilation of the area during the first use. If the smoke/odour production is too great, carry out the first use outdoors.

Procedure

Place the appliance on the stand ⑪ to enable rapid output.
- Slide the level switch ⑤ to level II and allow it to run at the maximum temperature setting (see section "Temperature setting") for 1-2 minutes.

Familiarise yourself with the operating elements before using the appliance for the first time.

On/Off switch / level switch 5

The appliance is switched on and off with the level switch 5 This can also be used to set the temperature.

  • Position 0: Appliance is switched off
  • Position I: Appliance is switched on, the temperature is 50 °C
  • Position II: Appliance is switched on, the temperature can be adjusted on the control panel 4 from 50 – 650 °C.

Temperature setting

  • The temperature is controlled via the control panel 4
  • The setting can be selected in 10 degree steps.
  • The selected temperature setting is shown in °C in the LCD display ③

Procedure

◆ Move the level switch ⑤ to position II.

Use the left or right button of the control panel 4 to select the desired temperature (see section "Technical data – Symbols on the appliance").

Air flow setting

  • The air flow is controlled via the control panel 4.
  • The setting can be adjusted in the range of 150 – 500 l/min.
  • The selected air flow setting is shown in the LCD display ③ with a bar diagram.

Procedure

◆ Move the level switch ⑤ to position I or II.
Use the left or right button of the control panel 4 to select the desired air flow (see section "Technical data – Symbols on the appliance").

Cooldown function

The cooldown function starts automatically as soon as the appliance is switched off after use and the power cord is not disconnected from the power supply.

  • The appliance is cooled down to 50 °C.
  • The LCD display flashes blue during the cooldown phase.
  • Press the COOLDOWN button to end the process early (see section "Technical data – Symbols on the appliance").

Use as a free-standing appliance

Procedure (Fig. A)

◆ For free-standing use of the appliance, place it on the stand ⑪
◆ Make sure that it rests on a stable, secure and heat-resistant surface.

NOTE

The free-standing arrangement is optimal for cooling after use.

- Avoid burns. Allow the nozzles and the outlet to cool before changing parts.

NOTE

The nozzles 7/8 are attached to the outlet 1

▶ The nozzles can be used in various ways.

▶ Note the safety instructions, and use the appliance with prudence and care.

Grill lighting nozzle

NOTE

Use: Lighting of charcoal / solid fuel.

▶ Never use multiple methods simultaneously for lighting the charcoal.

▶ Only use the grill lighting nozzle for a few minutes at a time.

▶ Never use the grill lighting nozzle for other purposes.

▶ Not all openings of the grill lighting nozzle may be covered by charcoal.

Procedure (Fig. B)

◆ Attach the grill lighting nozzle ^7 to the outlet 1

◆ Move the level switch ⑤ to position II.

◆ Set a high temperature and air flow.

◆ Position the grill lighting nozzle under the charcoal.

In a few minutes, the charcoal will be lit.

Flat nozzle 8

NOTE

▶ Use: Heating a wide area.

▶ Overheating of adjacent parts. When using the flat nozzle, take special note of the heating of parts adjacent to the area treated.

Spatula nozzle 9

NOTE

Use: Targeted heating of paint or varnish.

The spatula nozzle itself is not suitable for the removal of paint or varnish.

Use a scraper or similar tool to remove paint/varnish.

Reducer nozzle 10

NOTE

Use: Applying heat to a precise point.

▶ Overheating of the workpiece. When using the reducing nozzle, note the amount of heat at the point of application; do not dwell too long at one point.

Switching on and off

Preparation

◆ Prepare the appliance for the desired function. Select the appropriate nozzle.

◆ Insert the plug of the power cord ⑥ into a socket.

Switching on

◆ Move the level switch 5 to position I or II (see section "Preparation, On/Off switch / level switch 5".

◆ Set the temperature and/or air flow:

NOTE

If the temperature protection device is triggered by overheating in some abnormal situations, the hot air gun needs to be cooled down until the temperature protection device is restored, and the switch needs to be restarted for normal operation.

Cleaning, maintenance and storage

WARNING! ELECTRIC SHOCK!

▶ Risk of injury due to accidental starting of the appliance. Protect yourself during maintenance and cleaning work. Switch off the appliance and pull the mains plug out of the socket.

CAUTION! RISK OF BURNS!

▶ Allow the appliance to cool down before all maintenance and cleaning work. Have all repair and maintenance work not described in these instructions carried out by our Service Centre. Only use original replacement parts.

Cleaning

▶ Never spray the appliance with water.

NOTE

Risk of damage!

Chemical substances can damage the plastic parts of the appliance. Do not use any cleaning agents or solvents.

- Keep the ventilation slots, motor housing and handles of the appliance clean. Use a damp cloth or brush for this purpose.

Maintenance

■ The appliance is maintenance-free.

Storage

Always store the appliance and accessories under the following conditions:

  • Clean
  • Dry
  • Protected from dust
  • Out of the reach of children
  • Cooled down

Warranty conditions

The warranty period starts on the date of purchase. Please keep your receipt in a safe place. This will be required as proof of purchase.

If any material or manufacturing fault occurs within three years of the date of purchase of the product, we will either repair or replace the product for you or refund the purchase price (at our discretion).

This warranty service requires that you present the defective appliance and the proof of purchase (receipt) within the three-year warranty period, along with a brief written description of the fault and of when it occurred.

If the defect is covered by the warranty, your product will either be repaired or replaced by us. The repair or replacement of a product does not signify the beginning of a new warranty period.

Warranty period and statutory claims for defects

The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs effected under the warranty. This also applies to replaced and repaired components. Any damage and defects present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking. Repairs carried out after expiry of the warranty period shall be subject to a fee.

Scope of the warranty

This appliance has been manufactured in accordance with strict quality guidelines and inspected meticulously prior to delivery. The warranty covers material faults or production faults. The warranty does not cover product parts that are subject to normal wear and tear and can therefore be considered wearing parts, such as saw blades, replacement blades, abrasive papers, etc. or for damage to fragile parts, such as switches or parts made of glass.

The warranty does not apply if the product has been damaged, improperly used or improperly maintained. The directions in the operating instructions for the product regarding proper use of the product are to be strictly followed. Uses and actions that are discouraged in the operating instructions or which are warned against must be avoided.
