Preparation

Recommendations for Optimal Handling of the Battery

Protect the battery against moisture and water. Only store the battery within a temperature range of -4 to 122 °F (-20 to 50 °C). Do not leave the battery in your car in the summer, for example.

Occasionally clean the ventilation slots on the battery using a soft brush that is clean and dry.

A significantly reduced operating time after charging indicates that the battery has deteriorated and must be replaced.

Follow the instructions on correct disposal.

Operation

The laser tool can generate one horizontal and two vertical laser lines.

Once the laser tool is switched on, the horizontal laser line is switched on.

You can switch each of the laser lines on and off independently of one another. To do this, press the Button for Laser Operating Mode 3 that corresponds to the relevant laser line. When the laser line is switched on, the corresponding Button for Laser Operating Mode 3 lights up.

All operating modes are suitable for operation with the Laser Receiver 27. All operating modes can be selected with or without automatic leveling.

Initial Operation

  • Protect the tool against moisture and direct sunlight.
  • Do not subject the tool to extreme temperatures or variations in temperature.
As an example, do not leave it in vehicles for extended periods of time. In case of large fluctuations in temperate, allow the tool to adjust to the ambient temperate and then perform an accuracy check before continuing work (see “Leveling Accuracy” section, page 19). In case of extreme temperatures or variations in temperature, the accuracy of the tool can be impaired.

  • Avoid heavy impact or dropping of the tool. After heavy exterior impact on the tool, an accuracy check should always be carried out before continuing to work (see "Leveling Accuracy").

- Switch the tool off during transport. When switching off, the leveling unit, which can be damaged in case of intense movement, is locked.

Switching On and Off

WARNING

Do not point the laser beam at persons or ani-

mals and do not look into the laser beam yourself, not even from a large distance.

WARNING

Do not leave the switched on tool unattended and

switch the tool off after use.

To switch on the laser tool, slide the On/Off Switch 10 to the "On" position. As soon as it is switched on, the laser tool emits laser beams from the Laser Beam Outlet Aperture 4.

To switch off the laser tool, slide the On/Off Switch 10 to the "Off" position. The pendulum unit is locked when the tool is switched off.

When exceeding the maximum permitted operating temperature of 104^ F, the tool switches off to protect the laser diode. After cooling down, the tool is ready for operation and can be switched on again.

Operation

The laser tool is protected against electrostatic discharge (ESD). If the laser tool becomes electrostatically charged (e.g. when it is touched in an environment with low humidity), it will switch to the safe operating mode. When this happens, switch the On/Off Switch 10 off and on again in order to return to the normal operating mode.

Automatic Shut-off

When no button on the tool is pressed for approx. 120 minutes, the tool automatically switches off to save the batteries.

To switch on the tool after automatic shut-off, either slide the On/Off Switch 10 to the "Off" position and then switch the tool on again or press the Button for Laser Operating Mode 3.

Deactivating the Automatic Shut-off

To deactivate the automatic shut-off, keep the Button for Laser Operating Mode 3 pressed for at least 3 s (while the tool is switched on). Deactivation of the automatic shut-off is confirmed by brief flashing of the laser beams.

Activating the Automatic Shut-off

To activate the automatic shut-off, switch the tool off and then on again.

Automatic Leveling

The laser tool monitors the position at all times during operation. It works with automatic levelling during set-up within the self-levelling range of ±4^ . Outside of the self-levelling range, it will automatically switch to the incline function.

Working with Automatic Leveling

Position the laser tool on a level, firm support or attach it to a Tripod 26.

The automatic levelling function automatically compensates irregularities within the self-levelling range of ±4^ . Once the laser beam is permanently lit, the laser tool has levelled in.

If automatic levelling is not possible, e.g. because the surface on which the laser tool stands deviates by more than 4^ from the horizontal plane, the laser lines will initially flash quickly for 2 seconds, then quickly flash every 5 seconds several times. The laser tool is in the incline function.

For additional work with automatic levelling, set up the laser tool so that it is horizontal and wait for the self-levelling procedure to complete. As soon as the laser tool is within the self-levelling range of ±4^ , the laser beams will light up continuously.

In case of ground vibrations or position changes during operation, the laser tool is automatically levelled again. Upon levelling, check the position of the laser beams with regard to the reference points to avoid errors arising from a change in the laser tool's position.

Working with the Incline Function

Place the laser tool on an inclined surface. When working with the incline function, the laser lines will initially flash quickly for 2 seconds, then quickly flash every 5 seconds several times.

In the incline function, the laser lines are no longer levelled and no longer necessarily run perpendicular to one another.

Remote control via the "Leveling Remote App"

The laser tool is equipped with a Bluetooth® module which uses radio technology to enable remote control via a smartphone with a Bluetooth® interface.

The “Leveling Remote App” application (app) is needed to use this function. You can download this in the app store for your terminal device (Apple App Store, Google Play Store).

When remote controlling by means of Bluetooth ^® , time lags may occur between mobile terminal/device and laser tool as a result of poor reception conditions.

Switching On Bluetooth®

WARNING Do not turn on laser remotely using the Bosch app without line of sight to the laser tool. The sudden bright laser beam may increase the risk of personal injury or property damage.

Ensure there are no bystanders in the direct path of the laser beam before turning on the laser remotely.

Operation

Establishing/Ending a Connection to a Mobile Device

After the laser tool has been switched on, the Bluetooth® function is always switched off.

To switch on the Bluetooth® function for remote control:

  • Briefly press the Bluetooth® button 2. The button will slowly flash to provide confirmation.
  • If the laser tool has already been connected to a mobile device and this mobile device is within range (with the Bluetooth® interface activated), the connection to this mobile device is automatically re-established. The connection is successfully established as soon as the Bluetooth® button 2 lights up continuously.

The Bluetooth® connection may be interrupted if the distance between the laser tool and the mobile device is too great or is blocked, and if there are any sources of electromagnetic interference. Should this occur, the Bluetooth® button 2 will flash.

To establish a new connection (first-time connection or connection to another mobile device):

- Ensure that the Bluetooth® interface is activated on the mobile device and that Bluetooth® is activated on the laser tool.

  • Load the Bosch Levelling Remote App app. If multiple active laser tools are found, select the appropriate laser tool.
  • Press and hold the Bluetooth® button 2 on the laser tool until the button begins rapidly flashing.
  • Confirm the connection on your mobile device.
    — The connection is successfully established as soon as the Bluetooth® button 2 lights up continuously.
  • If it is not possible to make a connection, the Bluetooth® button 2 will keep flashing.

To switch off the Bluetooth® function:

Briefly press the Bluetooth® button 2 so that its light goes out or switch off the laser tool.

Laser Tool Software Update

If there is a software update available for the laser tool, a notification will appear in the Bosch Levelling Remote App. To install the update, follow the instructions in the app.

During the update, the Bluetooth® button 2 will flash quickly. All of the other buttons will be deactivated and the laser lines will be switched off until the update has been successfully installed.

Leveling Accuracy

Influences on Accuracy

The ambient temperature has the greatest influence. Especially temperature differences occurring from the ground upward can refract the laser beam.

Because the largest difference in temperature layers is close to the ground, the tool should always be mounted on a tripod when distances exceeding 65 ft. If possible, also set up the tool in the center of the work area.

Apart from exterior influences, device-specific influences (such as heavy impact or falling down) can lead to deviations. Therefore, check the accuracy of the tool each time before starting your work.

Firstly, check the leveling accuracy of the horizontal laser line and then the leveling accuracy of the vertical laser line.

Should the tool exceed the maximum deviation during one of the tests, please have it repaired by a Bosch after-sales service.

Checking the Horizontal Leveling Accuracy

A free measuring distance of 16 ft (5 m) on a firm surface in front of two walls A and B is required for the check.

- Mount the tool onto a Tripod 26 or place it on a firm and level surface close to the wall A. Switch the tool on. Select cross-line op-

Leveling Accuracy

eration with automatic leveling. Select the operating mode in which a horizontal and vertical laser plane is generated in front of the tool.

BOSCH GLL 3-330 CG Professional - Leveling Accuracy - 1

- Direct the laser against the close wall A and allow the tool to level in. Mark the center of the point where the laser lines cross each other on the wall (point I).

BOSCH GLL 3-330 CG Professional - Leveling Accuracy - 2

text_image A 180° B I II

- Turn the tool by 180^ , allow it to level in and mark the cross point of the laser lines on the opposite wall B (point II).

- Without turning the tool, position it close to wall B. Switch the tool on and allow it to level in.

BOSCH GLL 3-330 CG Professional - Leveling Accuracy - 3

text_image A I B II

- Align the height of the tool (using a tripod or by underlaying, if required) in such a manner that the cross point of the laser lines is projected against the previously marked point II on the wall B.

BOSCH GLL 3-330 CG Professional - Leveling Accuracy - 4

text_image A I d III 180° B II

- Without changing the height, turn around the tool by 180^ . Direct it against the wall A in such a manner that the vertical laser line runs through the already marked point I.

Allow the tool to level in and mark the cross point of the laser lines on the wall A (point III).

- The difference of both marked points I and III on wall A results in the actual height deviation of the tool alongside the lateral axis.

On the measuring distance of 2 x 16 ft = 32 ft, the maximum allowable deviation is:

$$ 3 2 \mathrm{ft} \times \pm 0. 0 0 3 \mathrm{in} / \mathrm{ft} = \pm 1 / 8 (0. 1 1 5 \mathrm{in}) $$

$$ (1 0 \mathrm{m} \times \pm 0. 3 \mathrm{mm} / \mathrm{m} = \pm 3 \mathrm{mm}) $$

Thus, the difference d between points I and III must not exceed 0.115 in (3 mm) (max.).

Checking the Leveling Accuracy of the Vertical Line

For this check, a door opening is required with at least 8 ft of space (on a firm surface) to each side of the door.

— Position the tool on a firm, level surface (not on a tripod) 8 ft away from the door opening. Allow the tool to level in while in vertical operation with automatic leveling, and direct the laser beam at the door opening.

Leveling Accuracy

BOSCH GLL 3-330 CG Professional - Leveling Accuracy - 1

text_image III I II 2.5 m 2.5 m

- Mark the center of the vertical laser line at the floor of the door opening (point I), at a distance of 8 ft beyond the other side of the door opening (point II) and at the upper edge of the door opening (point III).

BOSCH GLL 3-330 CG Professional - Leveling Accuracy - 2

text_image III IV p 2m I II

- Rotate the tool by 180^ and position it on the other side of the door opening directly behind point II. Allow the tool to level in and align the vertical laser line in such a manner that its center runs exactly through points I and II.

- Mark the center of the laser line at the upper edge of the door opening as point IV.

— The difference d of both marked points III and IV results in the actual deviation of the tool to the plumb line.

- Measure the height of the door opening. The maximum admissible deviation is calculated as follows:

Repeat the measuring procedure for the second vertical laser plane. For this, select an operating mode in which a vertical laser plane is generated aside of the tool. Turn the tool 90° before beginning with the measuring procedure.

Calculate the maximum deviation as follows:

Doubled height of the door opening x 0.003 in/ft

Example: For a door-opening height of 6.5 ft, the maximum deviation may be 2 x 6.5 ft x ±0.0036 in/ft = 0.047 in (2 x 2 m x 0.03 mm/m =1.2 mm) Consequently, points III and IV may be no more than 0.047 in (1.2 mm) (max.) apart from each other.

Use with Attachments

Working with the Laser Target Plate

The laser target plate 25 increases the visibility of the laser beam under unfavorable conditions and at large distances.

The reflective part of the laser target plate 25 improves the visibility of the laser line. Thanks to the transparent part, the laser line is also visible from the back side of the laser target plate 25.

Working with the Tripod (Optional Accessory)

A tripod offers a stable, height-adjustable support. Position the tool with the 1/4-20 tripod mount 12 onto the thread of the tripod 26 or a commercially available camera tripod. For fastening to a commercially available construction tripod, use the 5/8-11 tripod mount 13. Tighten the tool with the tripod mounting stud.

Use with Attachments

Working with the Laser Receiver (Optional Accessory) (see figure B)

Under unfavorable light conditions (bright environment, direct sunlight) and for larger distances, use the laser receiver 27 for improved finding of the laser lines.

Laser Viewing Glasses (Optional Accessory)

The laser viewing glasses filter out the ambient light. This makes the light of the laser appear brighter for the eyes.

  • Do not use the laser viewing glasses as safety goggles. The laser viewing glasses 24 are used for improved visualization of the laser beam, but they do not protect against laser radiation.
  • Do not use the laser viewing glasses as sunglasses or in traffic. The laser viewing glasses 24 do not afford complete UV protection and reduce color perception.

Working Using the Magnetic Rotating Mount (Fig. A - Fig. F)

WARNING

Keep your fingers away from the rear side of the

magnetic rotating mount while attaching the rotating mount to surfaces. The strong pulling force of the magnets 14 may jam your fingers.

Positioning possibilities of the Magnetic Rotating Mount 9:

— Standing on a flat surface.
- Using a commercially available fastening screw, it can be attached via the Fastening Slot 8 to a vertical surface.
- Using the Magnets 14, it can be attached to magnetizable materials.
— In combination with the Ceiling Clip 23, it can be attached to metallic ceiling grids.
- Mounted on a Tripod 26.

Roughly align the magnetic rotating mount 9 before switching on the laser tool.

You can use the fine adjustment knob 11 of the rotating mount to align vertical laser lines precisely with reference points.

“License” shall mean the terms and conditions for use, reproduction, and distribution as defined by Sections 1 through 9 of this document.

“Licensor” shall mean the copyright owner or entity authorized by the copyright owner that is granting the License.

“Legal Entity” shall mean the union of the acting entity and all other entities that control, are controlled by, or are under common control with that entity. For the purposes of this definition, “control” means (i) the power, direct or indirect, to cause the direction or management of such entity, whether by contract or otherwise, or (ii) ownership of fifty percent (50%) or more of the outstanding shares, or (iii) beneficial ownership of such entity.

"You" (or "Your") shall mean an individual or Legal Entity exercising permissions granted by this License.

“Source” form shall mean the preferred form for making modifications, including but not limited to software source code, documentation source, and configuration files.

"Object" form shall mean any form resulting from mechanical transformation or translation of a Source form, including but not limited to compiled object code, generated documentation, and conversions to other media types.

“Work” shall mean the work of authorship, whether in Source or Object form, made available under the License, as indicated by a copyright notice that is included in or attached to the work (an example is provided in the Appendix below).

“Derivative Works” shall mean any work, whether in Source or Object form, that is based on (or derived from) the Work and for which the editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications represent, as a whole, an original work of authorship. For the purposes of this License, Derivative Works shall not include works that remain separable from, or merely link (or bind by name) to the interfaces of, the Work and Derivative Works thereof.

“Contribution” shall mean any work of authorship, including the original version of the Work and any modifications or additions to that Work or Derivative Works thereof, that is intentionally submitted to Licensor for inclusion in the Work by the copyright owner or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of the copyright owner. For the purposes of this definition, “submitted” means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent to the Licensor or its representatives, including but not limited to communication on electronic mailing lists, source code control systems, and issue tracking systems that are managed by, or on behalf of, the Licensor for the purpose of discussing and improving the Work, but excluding communication that is conspicuously marked or otherwise designated in writing by the copyright owner as “Not a Contribution.”

“Contributor” shall mean Licensor and any individual or Legal Entity on behalf of whom a Contribution has been received by Licensor and subsequently incorporated within the Work.

Grant of Copyright License. Subject to the terms and conditions of this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative Works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute the Work and such Derivative Works in Source or Object form.

Grant of Patent License. Subject to the terms and conditions of this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable (except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work, where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable by such Contributor that are necessarily infringed by their Contribution(s) alone or by combination of their Contribution(s) with the Work to which such Contribution(s) was submitted. If You institute patent litigation against any entity (including a cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging that the Work or a Contribution incorporated within the Work constitutes direct or contributory patent infringement, then any patent licenses granted to You under this License for that Work shall terminate as of the date such litigation is filed.

Licenses

Redistribution. You may reproduce and distribute copies of the Work or Derivative Works thereof in any medium, with or without modifications, and in Source or Object form, provided that You meet the following conditions:

(a) You must give any other recipients of the Work or Derivative Works a copy of this License; and
(b) You must cause any modified files to carry prominent notices stating that You changed the files; and
(c) You must retain, in the Source form of any Derivative Works that You distribute, all copyright, patent, trademark, and attribution notices from the Source form of the Work, excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of the Derivative Works; and
(d) If the Work includes a “NOTICE” text file as part of its distribution, then any Derivative Works that You distribute must include a readable copy of the attribution notices contained within such NOTICE file, excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of the Derivative Works, in at least one of the following places: within a NOTICE text file distributed as part of the Derivative Works; within the Source form or documentation, if provided along with the Derivative Works; or, within a display generated by the

Derivative Works, if and wherever such third-party notices normally appear. The contents of the NOTICE file are for informational purposes only and do not modify the License. You may add Your own attribution notices within Derivative Works that You distribute, alongside or as an addendum to the NOTICE text from the Work, provided that such additional attribution notices cannot be construed as modifying the License.

You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and may provide additional or different license terms and conditions for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications, or for any such Derivative Works as a whole, provided Your use, reproduction, and distribution of the Work otherwise complies with the conditions stated in this License.

Submission of Contributions. Unless You explicitly state otherwise, any Contribution intentionally submitted for inclusion in the Work by You to the Licensor shall be under the terms and conditions of this License, without any additional terms or conditions. Notwithstanding the above, nothing herein shall supersede or modify the terms of any separate license agreement you may have executed with Licensor regarding such Contributions.

Trademarks. This License does not grant permission to use the trade names, trademarks, service marks, or product names of the Licensor, except as required for reasonable and customary use in describing the origin of the Work and reproducing the content of the NOTICE file.

Disclaimer of Warranty. Unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, Licensor provides the Work (and each Contributor provides its Contributions) on an “AS IS” BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions of TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You are solely responsible for determining the appropriateness of using or redistributing the Work and assume any risks associated with Your exercise of permissions under this License.

Limitation of Liability. In no event and under no legal theory, whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or otherwise, unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly negligent acts) or agreed to in writing, shall any Contributor be liable to You for damages, including any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages of any character arising as a result of this License or out of the use or inability to use the Work (including but not limited to damages for loss of goodwill, work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all other commercial damages or losses), even if such Contributor has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Accepting Warranty or Additional Liability. While redistributing the Work or Derivative Works thereof, You may choose to offer, and charge a fee for, acceptance of support, warranty, indemnity, or other liability obligations and/or rights consistent with this License. However, in accepting such obligations, You may act only on Your own behalf and on Your sole responsibility, not on behalf of any other Contributor, and only if You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold each Contributor harmless for any liability incurred by, or claims asserted against, such Contributor by reason of your accepting any such warranty or additional liability.
