6. Preparing the cool box
▶ Unpack the appliance and dispose of all packaging.
▶ Clean the cool box as described in the chapter "14. Cleaning and maintenance".
▶ Ensure that it is stable.
▶ Before connecting, make sure that the cool box is switched off.

WARNING!
Sensitive refrigerant circuit!
■ Ensure that no part of the refrigerant circuit is damaged when transporting and installing the appliance.
■ Where possible, always transport the appliance upright. With an inclination of up to max. 45° for brief transportation or longer transportation with an inclination of up to 5°, only connect to the mains and switch on after 6 hours so that the refrigerant circuit can normalise again after transportation.
6.1. Connecting the cool box to an earthed socket
Use the mains cable with mains adapter during operation via an earthed socket 100 – 240 V AC.
▶ Connect the two-pin plug of the mains cable to the socket of the mains adapter.
▶ Insert the plug of the mains adapter into the mains socket of the cool box.
▶ Insert the flat plug of the mains cable into the earthed socket.
6.2. Connecting the cool box to an on-board socket
Use the mains cable with 12/24 V universal plug during operation via an on-board socket (in a car, boat or campervan) with 12 V or 24 V DC.
▶ Insert the plug into the mains socket of the cool box.
▶ Insert the 12/24 V universal plug of the mains cable into the on-board socket.

_Disconnect the mains cable when the engine is switched off to protect the vehicle battery from complete discharge.
7. Charging external device via USB
The cool box has one USB port for charging external devices (e.g. smartphones). For this, the cool box needs to be connected to the mains.
Note the current output voltage at the charging port: 5 V = --- max. 1 A
▶ Connect the external device to the USB port using a USB charging cable (not included in package contents).
The battery from your external device is now charged.
8. Using the cool box

Storing food
- Store raw meat and fish in appropriate containers in the appliance to ensure that they do not come into contact with or drip onto other food.
- Ensure cleanliness and correct storage of food.
- Depending on your cooling requirements, store sensitive food at the top and less sensitive food at the bottom of the cool box.
- Leave enough space for air to circulate between the food to ensure even cooling.
▶ Press the button to switch on the cool box.
An acoustic signal is emitted.
▶ Press the + or – button to set the temperature.
The temperature range that can be set is between -20 and +20°C.
The setting takes effect after 4 seconds if no further button is pressed.
The temperature then displayed is the current temperature inside the interior cooling area. It takes some time until the set temperature is reached.
Only load the cool box when the required temperature has been reached, e.g.:
| Temperature recommendation for common foods and drinks | |
| Drinks 5°C | |
| Fruits 5 – 8°C | |
| Vegetables 3 – 10°C | |
| Delicatessen products 4°C | |
| Wine 10°C | |
| Ice cream -10°C | |
| Meat -18°C | |
▶ Press the button to choose between ECO (energy-saving mode) and MAX (high-performance mode).
MAX is set at the factory.
9. Changing the temperature unit
▶ Press the button to switch off the cool box.
▶ Press and hold the button until E1 appears in the display field.
▶ Press again until E5 is displayed.
▶ Press the + or - button to change the temperature unit.
The factory setting is °C.

All other settings with the E display are reserved for the Service Centre.
10. Resetting the cool box
▶ Press the button to switch off the cool box.
▶ Press and hold the button until E1 appears in the display field.
▶ Press and hold the + and - buttons simultaneously to reset the settings.
11. Tips for saving energy
Choose a location to use the appliance that is well ventilated and protected from the sun's rays.
▶ Use the cool box's ECO mode during operation
▶ Allow warm foods to cool off before you keep them cool in the cooling appliance.
▶ To ensure optimal cooling, fill the cool box with food and drinks that have already been chilled.
▶ Cooling food and drinks that have not been pre-chilled takes considerably longer and uses more energy.
▶ During operation without electricity, use pre-chilled ice packs.
Place the ice packs on the base and on the side walls.
If the cool box lid is left open for a long time, this can cause the temperature inside the cool box to increase significantly. To avoid loss of cold, open the cool box lid only briefly and not too often.
▶ Do not cover the vents.

The appliance is suitable for climate classes N/ST/T (see technical specifications). Correct cooling performance of the appliance is guaranteed at ambient temperatures from 16°C to 43°C. If temperatures deviate from this range, the appliance performance may be reduced.
12. Batt ery protection during operation via on-board socket
The battery protection function prevents the car/boat battery from being overloaded or drained when the cool box is in use.
▶ Press the button to switch on the cool box.
▶ Press and hold the button until H flashes in the display field.
▶ Press the button again quickly to set the H, M or L battery protection function. The battery voltage is shown in the display field.
The factory setting is H (high protection).
| Protection | Direct current 12 V | Direct current 24 V |
| L | 8.5 V – 10.9 V 21.3 | V – 22.7 V |
| M | 10.1 V – 11.4 V 22.3 | V – 23.7 V |
| H | 11.1 V – 12.4 V 24.3 | V – 25.7 V |

The voltage specifications are theoretical values. These may deviate depending on the ambient conditions.

■ Due to the different output voltages of the various vehicle mains batteries, you can lower the battery protection setting by one level when voltage protection is displayed (F1 message):
$$ \mathbf {H} \rightarrow \mathbf {M} \text { or } \mathbf {L}. $$
If possible, disconnect the mains cable when the engine is switched off to protect the vehicle battery from complete discharge. If you still want to operate the cool box with the engine switched off, select battery protection H.
■ Select battery protection H when the vehicle is supplied with power.
■ Select battery protection M or L if the cool box is connected to a portable battery or another backup battery.
13. Transporting the cool box

NOTICE!
Possible material damage!
- Avoid tilting the appliance too far (see also "6. Preparing the cool box" on page 111).
