IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following:

1. Read all instructions.
2. THIS IS AN ATTENDED APPLIANCE. Do not leave unattended during use, unplug after each use.
3. To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plug or grinder in water or other liquid.
4. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are closely supervised and instructed concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
5. Unplug from outlet when not in use, before assembling or dissembling parts and before cleaning. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull from the outlet. Never pull from the power cord.
6. Avoid contact with moving parts.
7. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Contact the manufacturer at their customer service telephone number for information on examination, repair, or adjustment.
8. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by Cuisinart may cause fire, electrical shock, or risk of injury.
9. Do not use outdoors.
10. Do not let cord hand over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
11. Check hopper for presence of foreign objects before using.
12. Use this appliance to grind roasted coffee beans only. Grinding other substances, such as nuts, spices or unroasted beans may dull the blade and cause poor grinding or injury.
13. Do not operate your appliance in an garage or under a wall cabinet. When storing in a garage always unplug the unit from the electrical outlet. Not doing so could create a risk of fire, especially if the appliance touches the walls of the garage or the door touches the unit as it closes.

14. This appliance is for indoor, domestic use only and is not intended to be used in applications such as:

15. staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;

16. farm houses;
17. by customers in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;

18. bed and breakfast type establishments.

19. Periodically check all parts before assembly. If any part is damaged DO NOT USE.

20. Keep hands, spatulas and other utensils away from moving blades whilst the appliance is in operation.

21. Make sure the motor has completely stopped before removing the lid.
22. Always ensure the blades and bowl have been thoroughly cleaned after each use and have dried completely before storing.
23. To protect against fire, electric shock or personal injury, do not immerse the cord, plug or housing base in water or other liquids or place in a dishwasher.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Plug cord into outlet.
2. Remove lid from base of grinder.
3. Fill stainless steel bowl with desired quantity of beans (see measurement suggestions on reverse.) For best results, do not fill beans above the top of the stainless steel bowl.
4. Place the lid onto grinder base.
5. Press and hold On/Off button to begin grinding. Please note: A safety feature of this grinder requires that the grinder will not operate unless the lid is in place.
6. Grind until beans are ground to desired consistency (see grinding suggestions on reverse.) To stop grinding, release pressure from On/Off button.
7. Remove plug from outlet.
8. Measure ground coffee into coffeemaker filter using scoop (not included), tablespoon or lid measurement markings. See measurement suggestions on reverse.

GRINDING SUGGESTIONS:

Some general guidelines for grinding are listed below. However, times will vary depending upon the amount and type of coffee used and your personal preference. The best way to determine how coarse or fine to grind your coffee is to experiment with different grinds and coffee types to suit your taste.

Set up to 40 seconds for one single use. Do not to run the unit continuously.

MEASUREMENT SUGGESTIONS:

For the richest coffee flavour, we suggest using one and one-half (1½) round-ed tablespoons of ground coffee for every 150ml of water.

The measurement markings on the lid indicate reference measurements.

For example, for automatic drip coffee, if you fill the lid to the .... marking with whole beans, you will have enough ground coffee to reach the .. marking.

Note: These markings are approximate. Experiment with different quantities to determine what works best for you.

CLEANING, STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

1. Be sure that grinder plug has been removed from outlet.
2. Wipe inside of stainless steel bowl and lid with damp paper towel. Dry completely.
3. If desired, lid may be washed in warm water or in the top rack of a dishwasher. Never immerse the grinder base unit in water or other liquid.
4. Store excess cord by pressing a section at a time into the cord storage area in the base of the unit.
5. Maintenance: Any other servicing should be preformed by an authorised service representative.
