- Only use this unit according to the intended purpose and as directed in the instruction manual. The warranty is null and void if it is not used for the intended purpose. The device is not intended for commercial use.
- The surface of the appliance is hot. People who are insensitive to heat must be careful when using the appliance.
- This appliance can be used by children aged under 18 years and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
• Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
- Do not attempt to repair the unit yourself in the event of any defects. Not only does this render the warranty null and void but you can also run the risk of serious hazards (fire, electric shock, injury). Only have repairs carried out by authorised service points.
- Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
- Before connecting the device to your power supply, please ensure that the supply voltage stated on the rating plate is compatible with your mains supply.
- Only use the unit in enclosed spaces!
- Do not use any electrical equipment while taking a bath or shower. Do not store or keep any electrical equipment in places where it could fall into the bathtub or washbasin.

Use of the device is prohibited in the following cases: persons under 18 years of age, • on animals, • you are pregnant, • do not treat any parts of the body that have swellings, burns, inflammation, peeling skin, wounds or other sensitive points.

Use of the device is prohibited in the following cases:
• people fitted with a pacemaker, artificial joints or electronic implants should consult a doctor in all cases before using the device, • not while ingesting substances that reduce reaction times (e.g. painkiller medications, alcohol), • you should not use this device if you are affected by one or more of the following illnesses and conditions: Circulation disorders, varicose veins, open wounds, bruises, broken skin, inflammation of the veins or thrombosis.
The device may not be used by: • People with a tendency towards freckles, • People with a naturally red hair colour, • People with unusual skin discolourations, • People with more than 16 moles (with a minimum diameter of 2 mm) on their body, • People with atypical moles (atypical moles are asymmetrical moles with a diameter of more than 5 mm and different pigmentation plus irregular border areas; if in doubt, consult your doctor), • People who are suffering from sunburn,
• People who do not tan in the sun without skin burns,
• People who quickly suffer from skin burns in direct sunlight,
• People who have frequently suffered from a severe sunburn during their childhood, • People who suffer from skin cancer or are suffering from this disease or are susceptible to skin cancer, • People with a first-degree relative who is suffering or has already suffered from a melanoma (skin cancer).
- The irradiation should not exceed the minimal erythema dose (MED). If erythema (skin redness) occurs several hours after irradiation there should be no further applications made. In this case, the next irradiation should not take place before one week after the date of the skin redness.
- If unexpected side effects such as itching occur within 48 hours after the first application of the UV appliance, you should consult a doctor before receiving further UV irradiation.
- Use only lamps of the specified type. The use of a UV lamp from another manu-facturer or of a different type will lead to the revocation of the warranty.

Risk of injury from ultraviolet light (UV-Light)!
Looking directly into the UV light from the UV lamps in this appliance can cause eye injuries and diminish the power of your vision!
- NEVER look directly into the ultraviolet light from the UV lamps.

If the UV lamps are not in use, switch them off.
• Non-users, and especially children, may not be present during the operation of the appliance. -
Do not use the device on wet skin or if the device is wet.
- Do not reach for the unit if it has fallen into water. Disconnect the mains adapter from the mains socket immediately.
- Do not use the device in the vicinity of aerosol vapour or at the same time as an oxygen device.
- Do not use the device underneath bedding or cushions.
- Keep the mains cable away from hot surfaces and naked flames.
- Never use the unit if the power cable has been damaged, the mains adapter is defective, if the unit does not work perfectly, if it has fallen into water or has been damage.
- If the power supply cable, respectively the mains adaptor is damaged, it may only be replaced by MEDISANA, an authorised dealer or by qualified personnel.
- Never carry, pull or rotate the unit by the mains cable and never pinch or crush the cable between other objects.
- Only pull the plug out of the socket when you have dry hands, when the unit has been switched off and is not being used any longer, and also do this when you have to clean the unit.
- Do not use the device if the timer is not working correctly.
- Consult your doctor first before using this unit if you have any kind of pain or desease.
- The treatment should be pleasant. Stop at once and consult your doctor if you feel pain or the treatment seems unpleasant.
• After 10 minutes of continual skin exposure, a 30-minute break is to be taken. UV lamps should not be used more than 200 times per year. - UV radiation can cause damage to the eyes and skin and result, for example excess ageing and even skin cancer in extreme cases. It is therefore strongly recommended that protective glasses be worn. In individual cases, UV radiation can result in oversensitivity to cosmetic products.
- Remove all cosmetic products from the skin, such as moisturizer and sunscreen, before use.
- You must consult a physician before use if you are taking medication that makes you more sensitive to UV radiation (e. g., St John's Wort).
- There must be a 48-hour long pause between 2 treatment sessions.
- Please consult a dermatologist immediately if skin irregularities (minor lumps), skin pain or pigmentation changes such as moles arise.
• UV bulbs get hot during operation. Avoid touching them!
• Always disconnect the device from the power supply and allow the lamp to cool before touching it.
Intended use
The device is intended for hardening of materials such as gel and acrylic liquid and uv nail varnish, which see use in nail care and nail design.
The device is not suitable for hardening or drying of conventional nail varnish.

you very much With the UV nail hardener ND 870 you have purchased a top quality product from MEDISANA. To ensure that your MEDISANA ND 870 provides successful results for a long time, we recommend that you read carefully through the following notes on its use and care.
2.1
Scope of delivery and packaging
Please check first of all that the device is complete and is not damaged in any way. In case of doubt, do not use the appliance and contact your supplier or your service centre.
The following parts are included:
• 1 MEDISANA UV nail hardener ND 870
• 4 UV light bulbs (9 W)
• 1 instruction manual

The packaging can be reused or recycled. Please dispose properly of any packaging material no longer required. If you notice any transport damage during unpacking, please contact your supplier without delay.

WARNING
Please ensure that the polythene packing is kept away from the reach of children! Risk of suffocation!
3 Operating
- Connect the power plug to a mains socket.
- Turn on the device by pressing the on-/off button ⑥.

NOTE
For choosing operating time observe instructions of the acrylic liquid or gel manufacturer.
- Press timer button ⑦.
UV light bulbs get switched on and light up.
LED „90 Sec“ indicates a 90 seconds operation time.
- If you press timer button ⑦ again, operation time is increased: 120 seconds, 30 minutes, 60 minutes. LED ①, ②, ④ and ⑤ indicate your choice.
- There are three ways to switch off light:
a. While beeing in mode "permanent operation", press timer button ⑦. (To switch the lamps back on press⑦ again.)
b. UV light bulbs automatically get switched off when timer has elapsed. (To switch the lamps back on press⑦ again.)
c. Press on-/off button ⑥ to switch off the device completely.
The device is only switched off completely if power indicator LED ③ goes out. Disconnect the power plug from the mains socket.
4 Miscellaneous
4.1 How to replace uv light bulbs
- Disconnect the power plug from the mains socket and wait for the device and uv light bulbs to cool down.
- Pull the extendable baseplate ⑩ out the device.
- Pull the uv light bulb ⑧ out of the lamp socket ⑨. Pess the new uv light bulb into the socket until it audibly clicks into place.
- Push the extendable base plate 10 back into the device.
4.2 Cleaning and maintenance
- In the case of an electrical unit always pull the power plug out of the mains socket.
- Never use strong cleaning agents or stiff brushes.
- Clean the unit with a soft cloth which has been lightly moistened with a mild soap.
- Never dip the unit into water for cleaning and ensure that no water gets into the unit at any time.
- Only use the unit again, when it is fully dry.
- Store the device in a dry, cool place.

4.4 DisposalThis product must not be disposed together with the domestic waste. All users are obliged to hand in all electrical or electronic devices, regardless of whether or not they contain toxic substances, at a municipal or commercial collection point so that they can be disposed of in an environmentally acceptable manner.
Consult your municipal authority or your dealer for information about disposal.

Warranty and repair terms
Please contact your supplier or the service centre in case of a claim under the warranty. If you have to return the unit, please enclose a copy of your receipt and state what the defect is.
The following warranty terms apply:
- The warranty period for MEDISANA products is three years from date of purchase. In case of a warranty claim, the date of purchase has to be proven by means of the sales receipt or invoice.
- Defects in material or workmanship will be corrected free of charge within the warranty period.
- Repairs under warranty do not extend the warranty period either for the unit or for the replacement parts.

The following is excluded under the warranty:
a. All damage which has arisen due to improper treatment, e.g. non-observance of the user instructions.
b. All damage which is due to repairs or tampering by the customer or unauthorised third parties.
c. Damage which has arisen during transport from the manufacturer to the consumer or during transport to the service centre.
d. Accessories which are subject to normal wear and tear. -
Liability for direct or indirect consequential losses caused by the unit are excluded even if the damage to the unit is accepted as a warranty claim.
