Safety Instructions

Safe work with the machine is only possible, if you read these operating instructions completely and strictly follow the instructions contained herein.
In addition, the general safety instructions in the enclosed brochure have to be observed. Take part in a practical introduction before the first use.

If the connection cable is getting damaged or cut during the work, don't touch it, but instantly pull the plug out of the socket. Never use the machine with damaged connection cable.

The machine must neither be wet, nor be used in humid ambient conditions.
- Do not use the tool for mixing materials either in danger of explosion or easily inflammable.
- Do not carry the tool at its cable.
- Always check the tool, cable and plug before use. Have damages only repaired by specialists. Only insert the plug into the socket when the tool switch is OFF.
■ Modifications of the tool are prohibited. - When the machine runs outside, always use a protection switch (30 mA max.) against fault current.
- The machine should only run under supervision of somebody.
- Pull the plug and switch the machine off if it is not under supervision, e.g. in case of setting up and stripping down the machine, in case of voltage drop or when fixing or mounting an accessory.
- Switch the machine off if it stops for whatever reason. This way, you avoid that it starts suddenly and not under supervision.
■ Always lead the cable to the back, away from the machine. - Do not use the machine if a part of the housing is damaged or in case of damages on the switch, the connection cable or plug.
■ Power tools have to be inspected by a specialist in regular intervals. - Keep the handles dry, clean and free of oil and grease.
- Do not touch rotating parts.
- Be careful with long hair. Only work with close-fitting clothes.
- Persons under 16 years of age are not allowed to use the machine.
■ Before starting up, check that the mixing rod is securely attached and rotates without a hitch. - Do not reach into the mixing container with your hands or insert any other objects into it while mixing is in progress. Risk of crushing!
- Wait until the machine or tool comes to a complete standstill. Rotating tools can snag and cause injuries or damage.
- When working with this machine wear ear protectors, goggles, dust mask and protective gloves.

- During use, always hold the machine with both hands and maintain a safe standing position. Start up and run down the machine in the mixing container only. Pay attention to the reaction moment of the machine.
- Ensure that persons standing near the machine are at a safe distance from the work area.
For further safety instructions, please refer to the enclosure.

Electrical Connection
Before starting the machine, please check the correspondence between voltage and frequency according to the data mentioned on the identification plate. Voltage differences of +6% and -10% are allowed.
The contra twin stirrer is made in protection class II. Only use extension cables with a sufficient cross section. A cross section which is too small could cause a considerable drop in performance and an overheating of machine and cable.
The EZR 23 R R/L is equipped with a start-up speed limiter to prevent that swift automatic circuit breakers are unintentionally triggered.
Tool Protection
Wrong handling can cause damages on the tool.
Therefor, please always observe the following instructions:
Only use original EIBENSTOCK stirring rods.
Do not allow blocking of the tool.
Switching on and off
The stirrer EZR 23 R R/L is equipped with a lock-off button against unintentional switch-on.

Switching-off: Release the trigger (2) to stop.
Right - / Left rotation
To achieve an optimally tuned to the corresponding material mixing effect, the agitator is equipped with a switch for changing the direction of rotation. This is located on the front of the machine frame above the handle.
Switch only at a standstill!
Right rotation:

natural_image
Close-up of a black rectangular component with a white arrow pointing upward, showing internal ribbed structure (no text or symbols)The mixing paddles are working into the material and convey this to the top. Use the clockwise rotation for tough material (eg screed, concrete, plaster ...)
Left rotation:

natural_image
Close-up of a black rectangular panel with a vertical grille and a white downward arrow symbol (no readable text or numbers)In reverse, the material is pushed by the stirring rods downwards. Thus a low injection mixing of materials with a low viscosity is allowed (for example, paints, encapsulants ...).
Speed control
The EZR 23 R R/L is equipped with an adjusting wheel in order to preselect the required speed. The adjusting wheel is on the top side of the switch handle (A – minimum, G – maximum). The integrated electronics automatically realises the soft start of the machine. Please pay attention that in case of immediate switching OFF and ON again there is a switch-on delay, because the motor first has to come to rest before it can restart. Furthermore, please pay attention that a permanent use with reduced speed can cause an overload because the motor then gets less cooling air and therefore the machine will be overheated much faster.
The integrated temperature control protects the machine from thermal overload. In such a case it switches off the motor. After a certain period of cooling time the tool can be switched ON again.
Mounting of Special Stirring Rods
In order to work properly with the tool, it is important to mount the special stirring rods in a specific position. For this purpose, turn the work spindles so that the marks L and R show to the front. Then push the two enclosed round rings on the end of the spindles. After that insert the stirring rods in a way that the same marks are placed one below the other (picture 1).
For fixing the stirring rods in the work spindles push the enclosed metal pins through the bore holes of spindle and stirring rod (picture 2).

Care and Maintenance

Before the beginning of maintenance or repair works you have to disconnect the plug from the mains.
Repairs have to be carried out only by qualified and due to education and experience suited personnel.
After every repair the machine has to be inspected by an electric specialist. Due to its design, the machine needs a minimum of care and maintenance.
The following works have to be carried out regularly:
- The power tool as well as the ventilation slots always has to be clean.
- During work, please pay attention that no foreign elements get into the interior of the machine.
- In case of failure, a repair has to be carried out by an authorised service workshop.
Environmental Protection

Raw material recycling instead of waste disposal
To avoid damages on transportation, the power tool has to be delivered in a sturdy packing. The packing as well as the tool and its accessories are made of recyclable materials which makes it possible to remove environmental friendly und differentiated because of available collection facilities.
Only for EU countries

natural_image
Simple line drawing of a trash bin with crossed lines indicating no waste or discharge (no text or symbols)Do not dispose of electric tools together with household waste material!
In observance of the European Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment and its implementation in accordance with national law, electric tools that have reached the end of their life must be collected separately and returned to an environmentally compatible recycling facility.
Noise Emission / Vibration
The indication of noise emission is measured according to DIN 45 635, part 21. The level of acoustic pressure on the work place could exceed 85 dB (A); in this case protection measures must be taken.

Wear ear protectors!
The typical hand-arm vibration is below 2.5 m/s ^4 .
Measured values determined according to EN 60 745.
The declared vibration emission level represents the main applications of the tool. However if the tool is used for different applications, with different accessories or poorly maintained, the vibration emission may differ. This may significantly increase the exposure level over the total working period. An estimation of the level of exposure to vibration should also take into account the times when the tool is switched off or when it is running but not actually doing the job. This may significantly reduce the exposure level over the total working period.
Identify additional safety measures to protect the operator from the effects of vibration such as: maintain the tool and the accessories, keep the hands warm, organisation of work patterns.
Warranty
According to our general terms of delivery for business dealings, suppliers have to provide to companies a warranty period of 12 months for redhibitory defects (to be documented by invoice or delivery note).
Damages due to natural wear, overstressing or improper handling are excluded from this warranty.
Damages due to material defects or production faults shall be eliminated free of charge by either repair or replacement.
Complaints will be accepted only if the tool is returned in non-dismantled condition to the manufacturer or an authorized Eibenstock service centre.
